Chapter 87 Large Hadron Collider

Only those who have experienced aging know how joyful it is to regain one's youth.

As his stagnant brain gradually resumed functioning and his thinking became agile again, Simmons was overjoyed with his decision.

What I lost were only material possessions like wealth, but what I gained was more time.

Witten is a bit younger than Simmons, but only to a certain extent; he had spoken with Simmons once during his last visit to Pfizer's lab.

The other party's thinking was much faster than his. Having known Simmons for many years, this was a first for Weiteng.

"If our plan goes smoothly, you should have a chance to obtain a Magic Brain," Jha said enviously.

"The Demon Brain is truly a wondrous creation. If only Merlin weren't called Merlin, he shouldn't even have a name!"

"Tell me in detail about the feeling after the injection of the magic brain, and what magic really is."

Wei Teng remained noncommittal: "Perhaps. If I obtain the Demon Brain, you might not be able to see me."

"Moreover, the second demon brain we obtained will most likely not be distributed; biologists want to use it for experiments."

"Whether the research can be reproduced or not, I estimate that it will be at least until the third Demon Brain before it's my turn."

Although Gerhard is a Nobel laureate, while Witten has never won a Nobel Prize, Witten's status in the scientific community is much higher than Gerhard's.

America has too many Nobel laureates, and Witten is one of the greatest physicists.

Gerhardt can only be described as a relatively excellent physicist.

"By the way, has the application for the Large Hadron Collider in Europa been approved yet?" Gerhard asked.

Witten: "I don't know, they're probably still debating it. Europa stopped applying to use the Large Hadron Collider after the discovery of the soul."

“CERN has expelled all foreign scientists, leaving only scientists from Europe.”

The Large Hadron Collider in Europa is currently the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator.

The solution everyone came up with was to accelerate protons to collide with the soul outside the body, and then observe the phenomena produced after the soul particles were collided.

The LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in Europa was built through cooperation among more than 80 countries and regions, and its main management body is CERN (Europa Nuclear Research Center).

Previously, more than 20 Chinese scientists worked at the LHC, but they have all returned to China now.

Not only Chinese scientists, but scientists from all but the 27 member states of Europe were expelled.

Even scientists from some small European countries have been marginalized, leaving only a few major European countries, together with the country where the LHC is located, to control the operation of the entire LHC.

CERN claims that the LHC is unable to operate due to certain technical reasons, and therefore international cooperation has been suspended until the LHC is restored.

Jerha scoffed, "If Europa won't agree, we'll force them to."

"We have too many means to achieve our goals."

Witten: "What if they cooperate with China? You know, China is also eager to use LHC."

Jha retorted, "Can China offer more than we can?"

Witten: "What we can offer, China can also offer. The Weber Telescope is not yet fully assembled. China can lend their FAST telescope to Europe."

"We can share information related to magic with China," Jha said.

Wei Teng cautioned, "How do you know China doesn't have a magic brain? You should know that the magic coin represented by Mars isn't in our hands."

Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away in a tunnel 100 meters underground in the Jura Mountains, the remaining scientists at CERN are working intensively to prepare for the next experiment.

"In the next experiment, the proton energy will be adjusted to 14 TeV, and the luminosity will be adjusted to 10e34 cm-2 s-1."

"Pay attention to the installation position of the collimator in the LHC ring, and take precautions to avoid errors caused by the superconducting magnet beam!"

"Everyone, gather together!"

“Poor man, the press of this button will take his life away.”

"Don't be so sentimental, he's a criminal."

"But criminals also have their due rights."

"Shut up!"

The LHC consists of a 27-kilometer-long superconducting magnet ring with numerous accelerating structures to increase the energy of particles along its path.

People once measured the energy and speed of cosmic rays reaching Earth's atmosphere here.

Cosmic rays are particles produced in outer space.

Inside the accelerator, two high-energy particle beams travel at near the speed of light before colliding.

The beams propagate in opposite directions in different beam tubes, which are kept in a state close to theoretical vacuum.

They are guided around the accelerator ring by a strong magnetic field maintained by superconducting magnets.

Electromagnets are made of special cable coils that operate in a superconducting state, which can effectively conduct electricity without generating resistance or energy loss.

This requires cooling the magnet to -271.3 degrees Celsius, a temperature colder than outer space.

LHC is located underground, but its operating system is on the surface, in a large flat at CERN.

Scientists working at CERN work in the control center and remotely operate the Large Hadron Collider via computer.

"This time, we've got the particle detectors at four locations—ATLAS, CMS, ALICE, and LHCb—working simultaneously!"

"Professor, do you think we'll be able to observe the combination of exotic and ordinary particles this time?"
