Chapter 369 Winter Arrival

"boom!"

The cannon fire continued unabated, but everyone inside the tent remained frozen in place.

Priest Bren, seated at the head of the table, uttered the single word "dog" to the crowd. His bloodshot eyes seemed to see some terrified creature before his gaze became unfocused and vacant, like a suddenly dead dog.

"Quickly, heal Lord Brun!"

"He is the next bishop being prepared by the Holy See; he cannot die here!"

"I have a small amount of soul crystals; they might come in handy."

After confirming that Priest Bren had not meant to curse, everyone scrambled to use their healing methods. The most effective Soul Crystal, held in the arms of a female healer, transformed into a dragonfly wing and entered Priest Bren's body.

The next moment, a large amount of blood gushed out. Priest Bren's face was as if it had been sprayed with hot steam, his skin was burned over a large area, and blood splattered from the raw, rotten flesh, spraying the healer's face, scaring her so much that she turned pale and her delicate body trembled.

"Unfortunately, the Soul Crystal failed to work, and Priest Bren... has tragically perished."

The swordsman looked at the blood on his hand, remained silent for a moment, and then spoke.

The river of time harbors many dangers. A slight misstep can lead to the devouring of one's consciousness and the disintegration of one's soul. Furthermore, some rare and ancient creatures forcibly occupy one's body and are reborn through it.

Currently, the soul that Priest Bren went to explore has been completely destroyed, unable to be protected even by a single soul crystal. Instead, it has clashed violently with the body, causing the physical body to collapse.

"Lord Bren fell without even using Soul Explosion. It won't be easy to explain to the Divine Court."

A warrior wearing a horned helmet frowned, and everyone's expressions turned grim upon hearing this.

This operation was initiated after the duchy received a divine oracle from the god of harvest, leading to an alliance among the three kingdoms to hunt down demons.

However, Priest Bren, who was nominally the leader and the next bishop to take charge of the divine court, died on the way, which was a heavy blow to the army hunting demons.

"Wait, didn't you hear me? Lord Brun's information is related to dogs."

The horned helmet warrior reminded him that he was confident he could compete for leadership of the army after Brun's death.

"A dog? There aren't any canine monsters around here..."

After cleaning up the bloodstains, the healer's pretty face showed a look of horror, and she trembled as she said, "Could it be the hellhounds from the Southern Wilderness, sealed in the Blazing Flame Mountains?"

"That's possible."

A mage surrounded by seven orbs of lightning stepped forward and spoke.

"Legend has it that the Hellhound can open the gates of hell in mythology, leading to the eighteenth level of the abyss demon realm. Its soul is also pure. A few months ago, the bishop discovered that it had crossed the River of Time and grown a second head, regaining half of its power!"

"What?! It really is it?!"

Everyone was shocked, and their expressions became unnatural when this secret information was mentioned.

"You should know that after the God of Harvest personally suppressed the Hellhound, it has been recovering its power, attempting to break free of its restraints and regain its freedom, thus bringing plagues and disasters to the northern lands, causing widespread slaughter."

"That hellhound, as one of the Four Heavenly Kings, belongs to the evil and chaotic camp. It regards all beauty and order as nothing and does evil solely out of its destructive instincts."

"Priest Bren, perhaps during his investigation, accidentally encountered the hellhound, and even his soul explosion technique was suppressed. He was caught up in a massacre and ultimately died tragically."

The magician, with a solemn expression, offered a guess.

The crowd was skeptical, but there were important matters at hand: investigating the cause of Priest Bren's death and following the clues to hunt down the demons who had smuggled themselves in.

"Giant City, Silverlight City, Titan City..."

The swordsman unfolded a map, on which, under the influence of magical energy, the division of power in the chaotic land was recorded in detail.

Amidst everyone's speculations, little did they know that the flowing river of time had revealed a flower vine, feared by the seaweed, that had blossomed and shifted the blame onto a certain old dog in the southern wilderness.

Outside the tent, at the tip, three flags with different coats of arms stood in a triangle, facing the wind, their fame spreading far and wide.

The Vayne family with giant wolves treading the moon, the White Orchid family with blooming vines, and the Glenn family with towering fortresses.

These are the powers of the three principalities, each ruling one country and, with the support of the god of harvest, governing the vast northern lands.

The duchy has been stationed in the northern lands for over a thousand years, possessing a profound cultural heritage. Because of its worship of the god of harvest, its hunting of demons has never ceased.

Even so, Constantine, as a rebellious force, had risen to power in less than a century, yet it dared to fight against the three great duchies.

With a life spring that transcends rank limitations as a backup, we're fearless and won't back down!

...

"Huff!"

The young man, who had just gotten out of bed, paused, the window rattled, and a gust of biting cold wind rushed in through the narrow crack, making him shiver.

Remembering his task for the day, he wrapped a cotton sweater around himself on the coat rack, then carefully pushed open the window, and a gust of cold wind mixed with snowflakes rushed into the room.

"hiss!"

Jimmy gasped, reached out, and pinched a crystal-clear snowflake. A chill ran through his fingers, and then his entire hand was engulfed by the snowflakes carried by the cold wind.

"The calamity of winter has arrived."

He murmured something, shook off the ice and snow with one hand, closed the window, and gazed at the heavy snow, ice fog, and frost flowers gradually freezing on the windowpane outside, lost in thought.

Suddenly, he felt a chill on his neck as a few snowflakes landed on it, causing him to instinctively shrink back.

Looking up, he realized that the window was covered in a layer of frost, and cold air was blowing through the gaps. He finally used a bathroom sponge to tightly seal the gaps.
