The moonlight was like frost. An elegantly decorated carriage, driven by two fine horses, sped along the road in the darkness.
Silver frost shimmered, and a tulip emblem, gleaming with a cross-shaped star, was engraved on the carriage.
Soon, the carriage arrived at its destination, a lively tavern where cursing, celebrations, and songs blended into a chaotic mix.
"Bang!"
The old steward, who was driving the carriage, opened the door and stood respectfully to the side.
"Miss, we've arrived."
The next moment, a pair of snow-white legs emerged from the opened carriage, then were covered by a purple patterned skirt. A tall young girl stepped out of the carriage.
The girl had long, flaxen hair that cascaded down her back, tied into a slender single ponytail with a purple silk ribbon.
She wore a moon-white dress, elegant and graceful. Her slender hands gently touched a strand of hair that fell to her chest. Her bright, clear emerald eyes were adorned with a rose ornament by her ear.
Her slender fingers rubbed together, and the girl unconsciously squeezed her hands, her deep and serene gaze fixed on the noisy tavern.
"You bastard, take this punch! The giant is with me!"
"By the Norse gods above, I, in the name of the gods, request a duel to fight this drunken bastard!"
"Oh my, this glass of pure wine is so tempting! I can't resist!"
"Tap tap tap tap..." (The sound of the tavern owner playing the strings)
"Waaah~ I was wrong, please let me go, I'm just a weak and helpless little bear living in the forest... Pfft!" (The bear-man being ganged up on sighed and made a frustrated statement, only to be beaten up again afterward.)
"Is this your excuse for breaking up with me?" (A heartfelt rendition by the little fox)
"Boss is awesome! Super, super cute... Wait, hey!!!" (Cai Gua Tou shouts encouragement, then realizes something is amiss)
The tavern was in complete chaos. Even the tavern owner, emboldened by the alcohol, played more than a dozen Nordic folk tunes to liven things up, creating a very lively scene.
"Is that little fox really over here?"
Minnie frowned, a hint of discomfort on her delicate face.
With her quiet and elegant personality, she barely adapted to the ruggedness and unrestrained nature of these adventurers. Even when she sang, she would let out a wild roar, as if venting her inner anger, which was somewhat unacceptable to the refined and aristocratic Minise.
Just as Minnie confirmed it, her figure suddenly froze, and a cold light flashed in her bright blue eyes.
"Miss, it seems we're being spied on."
Barossa, acting as the butler, whispered, stepping in front of Minnie to block her path. His fingers gripped the hilt of his sword, and a faint wisp of silvery-white magical energy began to gather.
He is not only a loyal butler, but also a late-stage Silver Rank swordsman.
Compared to knights with high health and defense stacked with equipment, and mages with low health and high mana who chant spells, swordsmen possess the excellent mobility of thieves, the keen senses of assassins, and top-tier burst attack power. They also have the stamina for prolonged combat. As long as they are fully equipped, they can be considered both offensive and defensive.
This swordsman butler is ranked among the top three among the Tulip Family's strongest members, but due to special circumstances, he is assigned to protect the Third Miss.
"There are three forces: two on the rooftops of the two buildings, and a third, extremely powerful force, hidden inside the tavern."
Barossa said solemnly, his sharp, eagle-like eyes glancing at a fleeting shadow on the rooftops to his left and right. Infused with magical energy, his vision pierced the night, catching sight of the crossbow bolts being retrieved from the windowsill.
Based on his years of experience, there are at most ten people hiding up here, possibly having received advance intelligence to assassinate the Third Miss.
After all, the Third Miss's personal visit to show her sincerity gave those despicable people an opportunity to strike.
"Wait a minute..."
Minise smiled faintly, suppressing the displeasure rising in her heart, and walked towards the tavern accompanied by Barossa.
Suddenly, as if a volcano had erupted, an agile figure leaped out of the tavern. His movements were graceful and dazzling, and his all-white hair was exceptionally striking.
"Woof woof!"
A large white dog ran, pursued by several burly adventurers whose fiery eyes flashed with the words "dog meat hot pot".
This is the tavern owner's dog. It's fluffy with pure fur, clearly a noble breed. These adventurers have been eyeing the dog meat for a long time.
Now that I have the chance to eat dog meat, how could I possibly miss it?
"Miss."
Barossa watched the group of drunkards warily, his large hand resting on the hilt of his sword. If these adventurers were feigning drunkenness to deliberately approach Minise, his sword would not hesitate to sever their heads.
"Don't bully my brother!"
Just as the white-haired dog was about to be caught, a voice came from inside the tavern. Then, a ball of crimson flame ignited in the void, condensing into the shape of a crossbow. With lightning speed, it fired three arrows, intercepting the group of adventurers.
Then, inside the tavern, a petite figure flashed out with lightning speed, thrusting out a sword. The [Thrust] skill provided astonishing speed, almost appearing behind the adventurer. A dark red flower bloomed at the tip of the sword, and a ball of fire shot out and exploded among the adventurer!
"Bang!"
One adventurer was blasted away on the spot, losing his ability to move. By the time the other three adventurers reacted, Xiao Han, filled with rage, had already leaped behind them. With a burst of power, he drew a crescent-shaped trajectory in the void and delivered a beautiful triple kick, knocking down the group of dog-eating bastards.
"Smack."
Xiao Han landed safely, motionless, leaving Minnie with the desolate, proud silhouette of a powerful figure. If the next snowfall were to fall even more...
