Chapter 111 The Chilling Curse

They found a decent-looking little villa to stay in for the night.

But once they entered a room, they saw the words written in blood.

The content is similar to that of Qin Tan's.

"Let's go back first."

Qin Tan led Xi Yang back; something seemed off about the village.

One family's situation was an accident, but what does it mean that every household left these writings?

It's a warning, but more like a reminder to those who come after.

But what exactly is this curse that these people fear?

After Qin Tan returned to the main group, he looked at the messy writing on the wall and pressed his fingers below his collarbone.

The black crow's tattoo is burning.

Scalding hot.

Like a burning flame, this reaction was greater than ever before, and it had been there ever since I stepped into the village.

"This village used to be called Xiwei Village."

"We found a diary, take a look."

Xia Shuang handed a tattered diary to Qin Tan.

Many of the papers inside were rotten, and the contents were not very legible, but they contained a very important record.

In the winter of the year before the cataclysm, a strange disease appeared in this village.

People with this strange illness show no outward signs of illness, except that they are sensitive to cold.

No matter how many clothes you wear or how warm you are by the fire, the chill just won't go away.

But to those who weren't sick, the temperature at the time was still acceptable.

This disease progresses very quickly.

"In one month, half of the village's population fell ill."

"I didn't escape it either."

It seems that the owner of this diary was also one of the patients.

"At first I didn't feel anything, but I was sensitive to cold, liked to eat hot food, and didn't like to go out."

"I locked myself in the house, hid under the covers, and turned on the heating."

"But I'm still cold."

"That chill gradually spreads down your spine, and no matter how much you wear, you can't resist it."

"Later, my illness progressed to the middle stage."

The diarist wrote this part with sharp, angry handwriting that hinted at a profound terror.

Someone died.

"They froze to death in their beds."

"When he was found, his body was covered with a thick layer of ice."

"God knows, the temperature was still three degrees Celsius at the time."

"The situation in the village is chaotic. Some people have even brought in so-called expert consultations, and people from higher up have stepped in."

“Those people said it was a rare disease.”

"They took away the sick people, saying they were going to take them to places with advanced medical care for treatment."

“I should have gone with them.”

"But I overheard their conversation."

“They said we had no chance of recovery, and taking us away was just to let us die somewhere else.”

"I don't want to."

"I begged my family to hide my illness from me."

Two days later, they left with the patient.

"Many people are missing from the village."

Qin Tan flicked her fingers and flipped through the pages, only to find that the next few pages were covered in dirt and the writing was illegible.

She simply flipped to the end and found a few diary entries that she could barely recognize.

"I'm going to die."

The diarist's illness had also reached its late stage.

“My family said I was talking nonsense, but I could feel it.”

"My body is freezing."

"I also know the truth now."

"It's a curse."

"A curse from the earth. The crack that was dug out half a year ago must lead to the eighteen levels of hell. This is a chilling curse from hell."

“I told my parents, but they didn’t believe me.”

"The experts are here again."

"They sealed off the area where the crack was discovered and forbade anyone in the village to leave."

"They put on protective suits; they wanted to plug the cracks."

"See, I'm telling the truth."

The owner wrote something on the next page, but it was eventually crossed out.

Turning to the last page, there was no new content, only a page full of rambling nonsense.

"This is a curse."

"Get out of here quickly."

"I'm going to die."

These three sentences are intertwined and fill the entire page.

This concludes the entire diary entry.

The group looked at each other, speechless.

"Does the crack mentioned in the diary seem familiar to everyone?"

Qin Jie started fiddling with his weapon again.

This habitual action is a part of Qin Jie's daily life.

"You mean, those are cracks caused by the erosion of the abyss?" Xia Shuang asked.

However, judging from what happened later, everyone knows that this is a very likely guess.

"So, the invasion of the abyss actually started earlier than we knew?"

Xi Yang suddenly felt despair.

Does this mean that the higher-ups were actually prepared before the large-scale invasion of the abyss?

However, despite being prepared, the result was that humanity was nearly wiped out.

Doesn't this indirectly prove that the existence of the Abyss is even more terrifying than they imagined?

Even if they find the official passage into the abyss, can they truly destroy it?

Or perhaps their ignorant actions were simply a way of delivering food.

Everyone could understand what Xi Yang meant.

Even the most unconventional Xia Yao fell silent.

"This may be the first case, but it's been so long that we have no way of knowing what happened back then."

"This is the most important thing right now."

Qin Tan pointed to the word "curse" written in large letters on the wall.

If the curse truly exists, does their entry into this village mean they too are afflicted by it?
