Chapter 20 The Extra Guests

The next day, at the shopping mall.

Qin Tan brought the princess along as Li Qian requested.

At first she was very enthusiastic.

After spending several hours shopping with Li Qian, Qin Tan realized that she had overestimated her current physical strength.

Not to mention, a princess was perched on her shoulder.

Seeing that Li Qian was in such high spirits that she could continue for several more hours, Qin Tan felt deep regret.

While she was feeling down, the bracelet vibrated.

Qin Tan's expression changed slightly.

She avoided Li Qian and opened the notification, only to find that it was a mission issued to all official members of the Wangcheng Limingshu team.

The gallery incident has resurfaced.

Another person has disappeared.

The mission requires all team members in the vicinity to immediately proceed to the scene.

Qin Tan glanced at the map and discovered that the gallery was on the street next to the mall.

After glancing at Li Qian, who was listening to the staff's introduction, Qin Tan made an excuse to leave temporarily.

The road wasn't far, and Qin Tan arrived a few minutes later.

The gallery entrance has been blocked off, and police are outside dispersing the crowd to maintain order.

After Qin Tan approached, he showed her his work ID.

She saw the surprised look in the other person's eyes, and then she was allowed to pass.

It seems that the police are aware of Dawn's existence to some extent.

Qin Tan walked into the scene.

This gallery is large and targets the high-end market; its decor is extremely luxurious.

In the spacious area, many paintings are displayed on the walls.

They are all famous masterpieces.

The theme this time is oil painting, and the exhibition hall is decorated with exceptional brilliance amidst the rich colors and brushstrokes.

Qin Tan reviewed the previous cases.

It was said that someone had mysteriously disappeared from the art exhibition, and the surveillance footage only showed the person entering.

After verification, the surveillance footage was found to be intact.

Most of those art exhibitions had only one exit, and there were no blind spots at the exit.

Therefore, this sudden disappearance warrants serious consideration.

Qin Tan was the only person present at the moment. She had observed the layout of the place but found no hidden rooms or similar structures.

Qin Tan checked the surveillance footage here.

The middle-aged man, dressed in a suit and tie, had a kind face and looked like a successful person.

By analyzing the other person's expression, one can determine that the other person is just an ordinary customer.

There were several blind spots in the exhibition hall, and Qin Tan discovered in the surveillance footage that the other party walked towards one of them before disappearing.

Now, Qin Tan is standing in a blind spot, surrounded by only three paintings on the snow-white walls.

The soft lighting here illuminates the oil painting, making the thick layers of ink appear three-dimensional.

A sunflower facing the sun, a magnificent palace, and a portrait of a family of three having dinner.

With the naked eye, Qin Tan could not see anything unusual.

Even after the resonance state was activated, there was no clue in these three paintings.

Qin Tan could be certain that the other party disappeared right here.

Just as she was about to try to achieve perfect resonance, she noticed a painting out of the corner of her eye.

She stood still in front of the painting, looking at its contents with a strange, unsettling expression.

Her memory is accurate.

This should have been a picture of a family of three having dinner.

But now, a fourth person has appeared at that table.

The man was sitting in a chair, holding a knife and fork, eating.

At the edge of the painting, the entrance to the house is revealed, and a suit jacket hangs on a coat rack there.

The deep black, emphasized by the ink, seems to be waiting to be discovered.

It was very similar to the suit jacket worn by the missing guest.

Qin Tan could hardly discern the man's appearance from the oil painting.

The content itself is unremarkable.

Qin Tan recalled the blood-red wedding photos she had encountered before; perhaps they were the same type of taboo subject.

Many forbidden items are just ordinary things in appearance.

Only when its power is revealed can one capture that trace of special abyssal energy.

The entire painting remained unchanged under her gaze.

Qin Tan tentatively raised her hand and touched the glass outside the picture frame.

It is solid, and you can touch it directly without any obstruction.

Is it different from the photo?

Qin Tan's brows and eyes showed a hint of contemplation.

She was about to look at the other two paintings when, in the instant she turned around, the space around her suddenly turned upside down.

Amidst the dizzying spin, Qin Tan heard a sentence.

"Ah, we have guests again!"

"Come and sit down, dinner is about to begin."

This is the sound of the lady of the house being happy.

Qin Tan found herself in a house in her old home, standing at the door.

The princess did not follow her in, and she did not make any rash moves.

She can still use the power of [Resonance], but it's very weak, at most making her reactions slightly stronger than an ordinary person.

This is... the world within the painting.

The house was clearly old; there were moldy marks in the corners of the walls, and the roof had patches left from peeling paint.

The television was playing softly in the living room.

A faint crackling sound of electricity could be heard amidst the flickering fragments.

From the direction of the restaurant, the hostess waved to her warmly, inviting her to dine.

Qin Tan observed the situation over there without making a sound, and then made eye contact with the fourth guest.

The other person sat in the chair, their face twitching, their eyes filled with resistance.

But his hands mechanically lifted, bringing the dinner from the plate to his mouth.

It was a fine steak, served with sauce, and looked delicious.

The other person's actions were like torture.

"Guest, come on in!"

While Qin Tan was deep in thought, her arm was suddenly grabbed.

Qin Tan suppressed the urge to retaliate, and looked at the mistress with apprehension.

The hostess, who was clearly standing by the dining table, appeared beside her without her noticing and took her arm.
