Chapter 27 A Premeditated Crime

She walked over slowly and gently opened the cabinet door.

The interior was empty, except for a black wooden sculpture.

The wooden carving was about the size of a palm, with indistinct facial features and closed eyes.

Qin Tan felt disgusted, as if she were being spied on.

The cabinet was clean, but... the smell of blood was strong.

The black of the wood carving resembles the color of accumulated blood.

Qin Tan wanted to examine the wood carving further, but she heard another set of footsteps outside the door.

She thought for a moment, then closed the door, walked to the chair, and pretended to be asleep.

The rich floral fragrance not only masks other odors but also makes people drowsy after inhaling it.

Even the princess closed her eyes and lay quietly on Qin Tan's lap.

Footsteps approached.

Judging from the footsteps, the person coming should be a petite woman.

"Hello, guest, can you hear me?"

The other person walked up to Qin Tan and called out softly, and her shoulder was nudged.

Qin Tan did not react.

"Guest, guest."

The other person called out a few more times to make sure Qin Tan was really asleep before their voice returned to normal.

"Come in, she's asleep."

The gentle tone turned cold.

Qin Tan recognized the other person by the voice; it was the girl who had helped the old man to the toilet earlier.

"Didn't we agree to only look for the elderly and women who can't even take care of their own children?"

The girl's tone was disapproving.

“The spies from Dawn's headquarters have recently arrived, and we may be discovered soon.”

“Before that, we need to do our best to develop more believers in our Lord.”

The boy's answer convinced the girl.

Qin Tan felt someone pinch her chin.

The princess on her lap was thrown off.

"She looks like a recent college graduate, and she keeps dirty pets. People like that aren't very wary."

"Furthermore, this bewitching incense is always effective, so there's no need to worry."

The boy tightened his fingers slightly, and Qin Tan heard a command directed at her.

"wake up."

Qin Tan's eyelids trembled slightly as she opened her eyes, her gaze filled with confusion and bewilderment.

The boy smiled with satisfaction.

"What do you want? Tell the Lord, and the Lord will grant it for you."

"And all you need to give is a little bit of faith."

"Come on, speak freely."

The boy's voice was persuasive and encouraging; people who had something on their mind would easily confide in him at such a time.

"host?"

Qin Tan asked in a dazed voice.

"Yes, my Lord."

The boy opened the cabinet, took out the wooden carving with both hands, and his respect and piety were genuine.

He warmly invited Qin Tan to watch.

"This is our Almighty Lord."

“Come, tell me your wish, and the Lord will grant it.”

The wood carvings are right up close.

The longer they stared at each other, the more pronounced the abyssal aura emanating from the wooden carving became.

In Qin Tan's highly spiritual state, she saw the wooden carving's face slowly changing.

Her features became refined, resembling... her.

"Don't worry, the Lord is just showing you your truest self."

As the boy spoke, the wood carving completely transformed into the likeness of Qin Tan.

They may look similar, but their expressions and demeanor are quite different.

The wooden carving curled its lips in a sinister smile, silently tempting.

An unseen pollution is being released, attempting to destroy Qin Tan's sanity.

"I think……"

"What are you thinking about? Speak up."

Qin Tan pretended to be deep in thought and struggling with her decision, which made the boy impatient and urge her to make a decision quickly.

The girl also came over and bent down to check Qin Tan's clothes.

She quickly pulled an ID card from the inside pocket of Qin Tan's trench coat.

Upon opening it, the familiar pattern caused the girl's expression to change drastically.

Seeing that she had been discovered, Qin Tan stopped pretending.

Her eyes became clear and bright, she smiled at the boy, and twisted his arm to make him lie on the ground.

The unexpected turn of events left the boy speechless.

The wooden carving in his hand was knocked to the ground.

The wooden sculpture that had been maintaining Qin Tan's facial features now had a cruel and wicked expression.

It split its mouth open, and its eyes, which had opened at some point, revealed a pair of blood-red pupils.

The mental pollution made Qin Tan frown.

Qin Tan activated her resonance to resist the opponent's power. At the same time, she swept her leg, kicking the girl who was trying to escape to the ground and covering her screaming mouth.

The princess jumped onto the cabinet, looking down at the wooden carving from above, her cat-like eyes revealing undisguised disdain.

"Meow~"

After the sweet meow, the wooden carving trembled.

Two streams of bloody tears flowed from the newly opened eyes, but the blood was quickly absorbed by the wood carving itself.

Even the face that looked exactly like Qin Tan's began to change and distort, eventually becoming blurry again.

The wooden sculpture lay motionless on the ground with its eyes closed, as if it were dead.

Their bullying of the weak and fear of the strong is laughable.

The boy who had gotten up was horrified when he saw this.

But what awaited him was Qin Tan's fist.

The space is too small to be suitable for wielding the Grim Reaper's Scythe.

Fortunately, both of them are just ordinary people.

In just a few moments, Qin Tan had him under her control.

Just as Qin Tan used her bracelet to notify Li Mingshu's people, she heard a loud commotion outside.

It looks like a fight has broken out.

Qin Tan simply knocked the two unconscious and then found ropes to tie them up.

After leaving the house, he broke the door lock and imprisoned the two people inside.

Upon returning to the first floor, I discovered that a fight had broken out in the children's area.

Qin Tan listened for a while before she realized that a child had fallen off the slide, and then the mother, who had previously disappeared, rushed out to accuse the staff of being negligent.
