"I'm here today to ask you to help me choose a wedding dress."
“Tingchen has commissioned several items for me, but I’m a little unsure what to choose.”
While eating and chatting, Qin Tan sighed, "The rich are so evil."
Qin Tan, who was overwhelmed by the display of wealth, watched Gu Tingchen remove the sharp bones from the fish for Li Qian and was forced to eat another dose of dog food (a Chinese slang term for witnessing public displays of affection).
"I'll show you in a bit."
"Then it's settled."
"I got a bottle of good wine. Don't go back tonight. I've prepared a guest room for you."
Li Qian invited her, and Qin Tan couldn't refuse her coquettish advances.
Qin Tan didn't like the astringency characteristic of red wine.
She leaned back in her chair, gazing at Li Qian's slightly tipsy face.
Li Qian has a low alcohol tolerance, but she enjoys drinking.
After finishing the meal, she was almost drunk.
"Mr. Gu, please take her to her room. I'll take care of things here."
Qin Tan got up and started working.
Gu Tingchen did not refuse. He knew about Li Qian and Qin Tan's relationship and did not treat Qin Tan as an outsider.
There was a lot of stuff, and after Qin Tan finished tidying up, she found Gu Tingchen sitting on the sofa.
Right in her direction.
The glance the other person gave her told Qin Tan that the main event of the night was about to begin.
From the moment she met Gu Tingchen today, she knew that he had something to say.
"I don't think it's a problem with your relationship with Li Qian."
Qin Tan took the initiative to speak and sat down opposite the other person.
The cooled boiled water on the table was clear and flawless, with gentle ripples on its surface.
The ripples, seemingly a subtle danger, lingered between the two.
In fact, Qin Tan and Gu Tingchen did not get along well.
The other party's thoughts are probably the same.
The fact that the two were able to sit down and eat together was entirely thanks to Li Qian.
Without Li Qian, the atmosphere between the two was incredibly stiff.
"I have a very good relationship with her."
"We're getting married in a few months, and I'd appreciate it if you could be my bridesmaid."
"She said she wanted to give you special treatment, so she only invited you as her bridesmaid."
When Li Qian was mentioned, Gu Tingchen's face softened.
"Then, Mr. Gu, please speak frankly."
Neither of us likes beating around the bush, right?
Qin Tan leaned back on the sofa, her posture relaxed, but her raised eyes carried a sense of pressure.
You've changed a lot.
Gu Tingchen said, "But that makes sense, we should both be more direct."
He handed the file folder on the table to Qin Tan.
"Open it and take a look."
Qin Tan did as instructed.
It didn't contain any confidential documents, but rather a newspaper and some photographs.
The most eye-catching image in the newspaper was of Qin Tan.
It's a screenshot from a video of her killing those spiders.
The people in the photo are blurry.
“I think you should have noticed that I investigated you back in college, for the sake of Li Qian.”
"So, I think I know you pretty well."
"The person in the video is you."
Gu Tingchen's words left no room for doubt.
Qin Tan didn't reply, but continued watching.
She discovered that the photos were taken at the scene of some extraordinary event, and there was always a certain angle from which she happened to be in the frame.
Everything about her speaks to her connection with those events.
Further down are messages about some extraordinary individuals.
When the last document was unfolded before her, Qin Tan's eyes turned icy cold.
"So, you're saying you're also a participant in this plan?"
The information on artificial superhumans was laid out before Qin Tan.
The level of detail was almost identical to what she knew.
"That has nothing to do with me."
"I just spent a lot of money to find this information."
"Dawn Pivot? That's what you call him, right?"
"So superhumans really exist, and you are one of them."
"I can guarantee that you will be very ordinary in college."
"So you joined after you were qualified to do so?"
Gu Tingchen's treatment was very effective.
He leaned over and examined one of the photos.
It is a forbidden item: the "Bloody Camera".
"This thing is problematic. It was this thing that caused Li Qian and me to end up in the hospital, right?"
“There’s something discordant about that memory in my mind.”
"My memory has been tampered with, hasn't it?"
"And this... you call it a forbidden object, right?"
Gu Tingchen observed Qin Tan's expression, but found it difficult to discern any clues.
"Of all the people around Li Qian, you are the only one I have never truly understood."
These words carried a hint of wistfulness.
Gu Tingchen sat up straight: "In any case, thank you for saving me and Qianqian last time."
"We owe you our lives."
"So don't worry, I haven't revealed this information to anyone else."
"Li Qian didn't have it either."
Gu Tingchen tried his best to take control of the conversation, but Qin Tan smiled knowingly.
"Since you know about the existence of the extraordinary world, why go to such lengths to investigate this information?"
"Gu Tingchen, do you want to become a superhuman like me?"
Her question was sharp.
Gu Tingchen is not a good person in the true sense of the word.
The development of the Gu family inevitably requires sacrifices.
Of course, none of this concerns Qin Tan.
The existence of the extraordinary world ignited Gu Tingchen's ambition.
The Federation is ultimately finite, but the extraordinary world holds endless possibilities.
Just like she did back then, once she stepped through that door, there was no turning back.
This is why so many people would rather be monitored than not retain their superhuman status.
Unlike others, Gu Tingchen, being an ordinary person, took the initiative to knock on the door.
