The order form was placed on the table. The boss glanced at Qin Tan, his expression troubled as if he wanted to refuse, but seeing the bulging paper bag, he felt a pang of heartache.
He opened it and was overjoyed to see a thick stack of federal banknotes inside.
“The guest is very generous, but since the guest doesn’t know the specific location, it means he wasn’t invited.”
"So it's not enough."
He pointed at the flyer and made an outrageous demand.
Qin Tan expressionlessly took out another paper bag.
The shopkeeper then put both bags away, peeked out for a while, and said mysteriously.
"It's with the quack doctor."
"Just drop a coin in to show your identity when you get there."
"The quack doctor did something unethical this time."
"But there's nothing we can do. The unlicensed doctor is sick and short of money."
After hearing this, Qin Tan turned and left, and behind her, the door of the grocery store closed.
The owner will not open the shop again until this matter is settled.
The money Qin Tan paid was to cover the boss's losses during that period.
There is no trust or affection in the old streets.
If it gets in the way of the other party, I won't hesitate to use dirty tricks.
Clearly, the boss is selling some incredible news this time.
Qin Tan crossed the street and arrived at the entrance of a clinic.
Qin Tan remembered that when she and Lin Zhi came here with them last time, she told them that this clinic could save people, but it could also kill them.
Now, that hits the nail on the head.
The gate was closed, leaving only a small crack.
Qin Tan inserted the coin.
Metal struck the ground, leaving a clattering sound.
Soon, the door opened.
She was a middle-aged woman dressed as a nurse, and her expression turned unpleasant when she saw Qin Tan.
"You're too thin."
Qin Tan's figure wasn't exactly thin; in fact, it was very well-proportioned and perfect.
"Even the thinnest person can have blood drawn from their body, right?"
Qin Tan smiled and handed over the form.
"I need money."
"I want to leave the old town."
These words made the nurse's face show hesitation.
"Let her in."
An aged voice came from behind him. Qin Tan looked over and saw an old man with a hunched back.
This is the unlicensed doctor in the old street, and also the only doctor there.
The other person was in his fifties, not too old, but Qin Tan sensed the approaching age in him.
Like an old man nearing the end of his life, he exuded the stench of decay from a coffin.
The other person is going to die.
Looking at the dark circles under the black doctor's eyes and his sallow complexion, Qin Tan thought to himself.
Qin Tan was then allowed to enter.
The clinic is closed today, but the backyard is bustling with activity.
Someone was waiting. Qin Tan looked around but didn't see Xiao Feng.
But she saw Xiaofeng's friend's mother; she had seen a photo of her at the friend's house.
The other person was sitting anxiously in the corner, glancing in one direction every now and then.
Qin Tan was about to walk over when the nurse stopped her.
"Queue up here and register while you're at it."
The paper didn't ask about blood type or any medical conditions; all that was required was the bank account number for receiving payments and the amount of blood donated.
Qin Tan filled 500 milliliters.
"The money will arrive within ten minutes."
After filling it out, the nurse glanced at it casually.
This puzzled Qin Tan.
"Isn't it paid after you sell your blood?"
The nurse swept over with a cold look: "Just take it when I tell you to."
He glared at Qin Tan and then turned and left.
"I don't even know if I'll be alive to collect them later!"
Qin Tan keenly caught this sound.
As expected.
It's like giving you a good last meal before you die.
This money gave you an early start, giving you hope.
It's as if it's trying to comfort you so you can die in peace.
"I... I've thought about it, and I don't think I'm really suitable to donate blood."
“I will return the money to you. Now call out my husband, my son, and his friend.”
Suddenly, the woman grabbed the nurse and pleaded.
The commotion drew the attention of some people.
The nurse shoved the other person's hand away.
Stop dreaming.
"Since you're already in here and have taken the money, you have to have your blood drawn before you can leave."
The nurse, perhaps having seen too many cases, changed her mind and said impatiently.
"How can you force someone to buy or sell something?"
The woman became anxious.
"What do you mean by forced sale? You've signed the contract and received the money, so you can go back on your word as you please?"
"You can back out, but you'll get double the compensation."
The nurse rolled her eyes, her attitude clearly showing she was emboldened.
"I, I..."
Upon hearing the word "double compensation," the woman fell silent.
If she had the money, she wouldn't be selling her blood here.
Seeing this, Qin Tan walked over.
"How long has Xiao Feng been inside?"
She asked the woman.
"Xiao Feng..." One person paused for a moment, then replied, "About ten minutes."
"Are you... are you Xiaofeng's family? I... I didn't mean to."
“Xiao Feng found us himself after he learned that our family was planning to sell blood, and he even asked my son to help keep it a secret.”
"He also wanted to earn some money for his family."
"He said he wanted to move away from the old town."
Anyone would be willing to take the gamble if they could earn tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars just by buying a little blood.
However, these people seem to be deliberately ignoring the risks involved.
"Go back and line up."
The nurse was very annoyed with Qin Tan and reached out to shove him.
But Qin Tan grabbed it from behind.
Despite her petite stature, Qin Tan possessed remarkable strength, and the nurse was unable to break free.
Where did they go?
Qin Tan asked the woman.
