Chapter 110 Reunion with Bai Shiying

With Mu Qingcheng's matter completely resolved, Mu Yao was also taken home.

Mu Qingcheng was still a little embarrassed and didn't know how to get along with Xu Daiwei and the others. Xie Wei didn't pressure her. Anyway, they were all his people, and the rest was just a matter of time.

However, apart from Mu Yao, the other three could all see the change in the atmosphere between the two. Xie Wei didn't say anything, so they pretended not to know, but this made things difficult for Mu Yao.

With the matter settled, Xie Wei realized that he hadn't visited the orphanage for quite some time since returning to the capital. He also had matters concerning the ruins to attend to, so he decided to take advantage of this free time to go there.

That's what he thought, and that's what he did. He took off his suit, changed into casual clothes, put on a red vest, and once again stood at the entrance of the orphanage as a volunteer.

The security guard recognized him as an old acquaintance, greeted him, and let Xie Wei in.

Director Zhang and two aunties were still taking care of the children at the orphanage, and it seemed that Xie Wei was the only volunteer today.

When Dean Zhang saw Xie Weilai, his eyes were filled with an irrepressible smile.

Wearing a red vest, Xie Wei, the "headmistress," seemed to have returned to how she was when she first came to the orphanage, her sunshine tinged with a hint of restraint, like a child who had done something wrong.

"Oh," Dean Zhang said with her usual kind smile. Remembering her conversation with Bai Shiying, she understood Xie Wei's restraint. "Actually, Qianqian came here not long ago."

"Hmm?" Xie Wei was slightly taken aback, then smiled. "Nothing really escapes your eyes."

"Judging from your expression, you must be starting to let go..." Dean Zhang said, looking at Xie Wei's smile.

Hearing Dean Zhang's words, Xie Wei just smiled. The withdrawal symptoms were still unbearable, but he already had a cure.

"Parting ways amicably will bring us joy again"—it's unclear whether this was said to the dean or to himself.

"You are all good children. I have no other wish in this life but for you to be healthy and safe."

"Yes, I also hope that you, Grandma Director, will enjoy good health and a long life."

After exchanging pleasantries for a while, Xie Wei went to play with the children.

Seeing Xie Wei helping the children with their homework, she took a picture with her phone and sent it.

A little while later, Xie Wei was helping a primary school student with their homework, while two aunties were playing with kindergarten children. Xie Wei was alone, yet still managing everything in an orderly manner.

"Sister Qianqian is here!" Xiao Sheng, who was watching TV after finishing his homework, suddenly saw Bai Shiying standing at the door and called out, not knowing how long she had been standing there.

A commotion erupted inside the room as everyone rushed to Bai Shiying's side, gazing at this kind and approachable older sister with their big, round eyes.

Today, Bai Shiying tied her hair into a high ponytail with a hair tie, wore light makeup, a white t-shirt, a pair of beige casual pants, and white sneakers, looking youthful and vibrant.

"Do you need any help?" Zhu Yan asked gently, her teeth showing.

For a moment, Xie Wei thought he had returned to the past and was momentarily stunned, but then he shook his head, glanced at the time, and got up again.

"Okay, I'll leave this to Miss Bai. I need to go cook for the children now."

Since Xie Weihui started cooking, the people at the orphanage have tasted his food and praised it highly. After that, he would take on this task every time he came.

Xie Wei looked at Dean Zhang, who was already busy in the kitchen, took the pot from her hand, guessed why Bai Shiying was there, and called out helplessly, "Grandma Dean."

"Grandma is getting old and hasn't seen Qianqian in a long time, so let her come back for a visit. You young people can handle your own affairs; Grandma will not interfere," Dean Zhang said with a smile.

After hearing what the dean said, Xie Wei could only smile helplessly and said while cooking, "Then you can leave this to me. She'll be outside with Xiao Sheng and the others."

"Then I'll leave this to you." Dean Zhang knew that these things couldn't be rushed, so he didn't pressure Xie Wei. There was plenty of time.

When Xie Wei finished cooking, he put all the food on the table. The children, smelling the aroma, couldn't wait to get to the table and quietly waited for the meal to begin.

"Delicious! Brother Xie Wei's cooking is still so delicious!" The child's praise was undoubtedly an affirmation of Xie Wei.

Bai Shiying put her hair up and carefully tasted the food, her eyes shining as she looked at Xie Wei with a hint of doubt, as if asking, "When did you learn that?"

Xie Wei completely ignored Bai Shiying's gaze and didn't bother to understand the meaning behind her eyes.

Bai Shiying withdrew her somewhat disappointed gaze and continued to pick at the food in her bowl.

Xie Wei even deliberately chose a seat furthest away from Bai Shiying, as if he were hiding from something.

Bai Shiying got up and moved to sit opposite Xie Wei, looking at him with a smile.

Xie Wei ignored her, focusing on eating the rice in his bowl without even picking up a single dish.

"Brother Xie Wei, why aren't you eating the vegetables? Is it not tasty?" Xiao Hu's voice came from the side.

Xie Wei didn't know how to answer for a moment, so he stopped what he was doing, looked up, and glared at Xiao Hu.

"Haha..." Bai Shiying across from him burst out laughing, her already beautiful eyes becoming even brighter. She then picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and put it into Xie Wei's bowl.

Xie Wei pretended not to care and started eating, also putting a piece of food into Xiao Hu's bowl.

"Just eat your food, even food can't shut you up."

"Oh," the simple-minded Little Tiger replied casually, and then continued his work of cooking.

After Xiao Hu's antics, Xie Wei felt that his actions seemed a bit deliberate, but the gaze from the other side made him unable to relax, like a fierce beast watching him intently, making Xie Wei feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.
