The school anniversary celebration is coming to an end.
"Their youth has just begun," Xie Wei said for some reason.
“Our youth isn’t over yet,” Bai Shiying said, looking at Xie Wei.
Hearing Bai Shiying's words, Xie Wei smiled slightly and then said, "You're right, let's go."
The two said goodbye to Lao Ye and the others, and then left.
"Drive this one, I want to ride in this one." Bai Shiying pointed in the direction of the motorcycle that had appeared under the parking shed at some point.
It was a black Kawasaki, somewhat similar to the one Xie Wei rode in high school; they were probably from the same series.
There were two helmets on the seat, one black and one pink, which Bai Shiying must have prepared in advance.
"Let's go, like before, you drive me," Bai Shiying handed the keys along with the black helmet to Xie Wei.
"Where to?" Xie Wei took it from him and looked at the other person's eyes, which were shining brightly in the night.
Let's go to the old town.
The Old City District is a district located in the western part of the capital. As the name suggests, the buildings there retain some historical traces, and there are many shops that have been transformed into tourist attractions to develop the economy.
There are also fireworks displays on certain holidays. It is the only place in the capital city where fireworks are openly allowed, and it can be considered a unique feature of the capital city to attract tourists and develop tourism.
The two arrived at an old bridge outside the old town. On days like this, when it's not a holiday, the area is sparsely populated, especially now that it's nighttime.
Looking around at the scenery, there are a few lights illuminating the road on the ancient bridge, and the city is surrounded by LED lights, making it look like a city that never sleeps.
Xie Wei hadn't been here for quite a while; the last time he came was with Lin Qingying and Lu Yan to watch the fireworks show.
I can't quite remember what happened back then, but it feels like it just happened a few days ago.
Time flies!
“Xingzhi, this isn’t our first meeting at No. 1 Middle School,” Bai Shiying said, her voice as melodious and pleasant as pearls rolling on a jade plate.
"Hmm?" Xie Wei, whose thoughts were just drifting, suddenly heard Bai Shiying say this and was a little confused.
He remembered clearly that he had never seen Bai Shiying outside of No. 1 Middle School.
Seeing Xie Wei's puzzled expression, Bai Shiying smiled, tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ear, and slowly began to speak.
It was the night of the fireworks festival.
Bai Qianqian was handing out flyers dressed as a mascot on a bridge outside the ancient city because of her part-time job.
Bai Qianqian was quite experienced with this kind of thing back then, but today there weren't enough people. What was supposed to be the work of two people was suddenly canceled, so all the tasks fell on Bai Qianqian's shoulders.
However, she didn't think much of it. The store manager said he would pay her double the salary, and handing out flyers wasn't a very difficult job. It was just that her legs would ache from standing for so long.
But for Bai Qianqian, these were all minor matters.
When she was handing out flyers, she stepped back and accidentally bumped into a woman.
She apologized, but the man next to her seemed to want to show off. He not only cursed at her but also slapped the flyer out of her hand.
Only after doing all this did he take the woman's hand and leave, still cursing as he went.
Bai Qianqian pursed her lips, squatted down and silently picked up the flyers on the ground; she was already used to this kind of thing.
When she was working part-time, she encountered customers who were even more outrageous than this. What could she do then?
There's no way around it. Sometimes it's not that you can't reason with someone, but that you have to swallow your pride even if you are right.
Wearing gloves made picking things up wasn't very convenient, and the flyer was just a thin sheet of paper, making it even more difficult to pick it up.
Just then, a handsome young man appeared in front of her and knelt down to help her pick up the flyers.
After picking everything up and tidying it up, I handed it back to her, took one of the bills, thanked her, and left.
Bai Qianqian said thank you from inside the doll, then continued standing in the same spot, handing out flyers.
The two seemed to be from completely different worlds.
After Bai Qianqian finished handing out the flyers, she walked to the bridgehead. There weren't many people there, and it faced the square, so she could watch the fireworks very well, although it wasn't as atmospheric as being there in person.
Unexpectedly, she ran into the boy who had helped her, and there were two other people with him, a man and a woman.
These three are Xie Wei, Lu Yan, and Lin Qingying.
Xie Wei wasn't the type to enjoy crowded places. Standing on the ancient bridge, leaning against the railing, he listened to the wind and admired the moon, quietly waiting for the evening party to begin.
The three of them weren't actually there to watch the fireworks; they were just there for the fun of it.
"Third Brother, I've heard about your exploits from my friends. You're both the school heartthrob and the school bully. That's amazing!" Lu Yan, a middle school student, had a bit of a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) vibe and looked on with longing.
Before Xie Wei could say anything, Lin Qingying interjected, "That's right! Third Brother has always been this amazing."
She seemed to be the one in the limelight, her face beaming with pride.
Lu Yan suddenly leaned closer and whispered, "I also heard that there's a new school beauty at No. 2 High School, but everyone at No. 2 High School is saying that she frequents nightclubs and does 'that kind of thing'."
"It's rumored that she even seduced someone from No. 2 Middle School..."
Although the voice wasn't loud, Bai Qianqian, who was standing behind them, still heard it.
The girl beneath the doll slowly lowered her head, her eyes dimmed, and her hands clenched into fists, unconsciously tightening their grip.
Although she knew that bad rumors about her were circulating at school, and that the boy Lu Yan mentioned was spreading rumors about her because she had rejected him.
Xie Wei gently tapped Lu Yan, who was chattering incessantly, with the back of his finger.
“A girl’s reputation is important. It’s one thing for those people at No. 2 Middle School to talk nonsense, but you’ve spread rumors based on hearsay. A girl only has one mouth, and she can’t fight against the crowd. How can she defend herself?”
