Chapter 45 Perilous Situation, Breaking the Impasse with "Stay Calm"

Since Ye Yan stopped coming to class, Xie Wei guessed that Ye Yan was about to resolve this matter, and Ye Yan's campus story was about to come to an end.

Therefore, after class, Xie Wei wandered around the campus. Anyway, Qi Yuan had Xu Daiwei, which was enough. He hoped to see Ye Yan make a move so he could know Ye Yan's current strength.

Although I had used the Eye of Destiny to examine Ye Yan's cultivation level last time.

However, Xie Wei knew that people like the Chosen One, who had great opportunities, could not possibly match their realm and strength; at the very least, they were capable of killing opponents of higher levels.

Therefore, Xie Weicai wanted to try his luck and see if he could witness Ye Yan's intervention.

Xie Wei walked around but found nothing. He thought maybe he was wrong. No matter what, a fight shouldn't happen at school.

There are too many students here, making it an easy target for evil cultivators, and the students are likely to suffer. Given Ye Yan's personality, fighting in school is indeed inappropriate.

Just as he was about to leave, Xie Wei suddenly sensed a rapid fluctuation of spiritual energy.

Since his spiritual power reached the Innate Realm, Xie Wei's perception of spiritual energy has also increased significantly. Although it was only for a brief moment, Xie Wei still managed to sense it.

In addition, Xie Wei also sensed a surge of spiritual energy, which intertwined with his own.

Xie Wei stopped the students on the road, pointed in the direction from which the spiritual energy was coming, and asked where it was.

According to the student, Xie Wei was pointing in the direction of the school's old dormitory. After the new dormitory was built this year, all the students moved into the new dormitory, and the old dormitory was abandoned and awaiting demolition.

The student gave Xie Wei directions. Although he didn't know why Xie Wei wanted to go there, as a contemporary college student, he upheld the principle of being eager to help others.

Xie Wei thanked him and headed in that direction. Just after Xie Wei left, a figure stopped the classmate Xie Wei had asked.

The instant Xie Wei sensed the fluctuation of spiritual energy, in a conference room at Imperial University, Old Master Su slightly opened his eyes, facing the group of people who were about to make a move.

"Please be patient, everyone. Let the young people handle their own affairs. We old folks can step in when they can't solve it ourselves."

Upon hearing Old Master Su's words, the group exchanged glances and then returned to their seats to continue the meeting.

The closer Xie Wei got to the abandoned dormitory, the clearer the fluctuations of spiritual energy he felt became.

Xie Wei quickly arrived at the entrance of the abandoned dormitory, stopped, and did not go any further. He looked around for a suitable viewpoint, thinking he would just take a look and leave.

Unexpectedly, a figure tumbled out of the dormitory door and flew straight to Xie Wei. The already dilapidated dormitory door was now in pieces, and the dust it kicked up made Xie Wei cough.

Xie Wei walked up and took a closer look. It turned out that the person who had fallen to the ground was Ye Yan, with a little blood on the corner of his mouth.

Before Xie Wei could figure out what was going on, the dust settled, and a person walked out of the door.

The man's face was crisscrossed with scars, strange tattoos stretched from his neck to cover half his face, and his eyes were filled with a sinister gaze and a chilling aura.

Upon seeing Xie Wei, a cold smile appeared on his lips. "Another fool who doesn't know his own mortality has arrived. You guys are really annoying." He then swung the dagger in his hand and attacked Xie Wei.

It was obvious that the man regarded Xie Wei as someone sent from above, just like Ye Yan.

Xie Wei knew there was no point in explaining to this delirious, heretical cultivator, so he quickly pushed Ye Yan away, dodging him, a hint of doubt in his eyes. 'This guy is only at the early stage of the Innate Realm; Ye Yan shouldn't be unable to defeat him.'

The man answered Xie Wei's doubts with his actions. He used his mental energy to condense something like a marble at his fingertips, and with a flick of his wrist, the marble flew towards Xie Wei.

Xie Wei used his mental power to deflect several marbles, and managed to dodge the remaining few without serious injury.

Xie Wei hadn't expected that this person's spiritual power had reached the mid-stage of the Innate Realm. How many souls would one have to devour to achieve that?

Unlike physical attacks, mental attacks do not cause continuous mental torment.

The degree of torment varies depending on the level of mental strength. This is extremely disadvantageous in a protracted battle, as can be seen from Ye Yan's current state.

Ye Yan looked somewhat tired at this moment, clearly indicating that he was suffering from severe mental disturbance.

Xie Wei regretted coming here and turned to run away, thinking that Ye Yan should stay and clean up this mess.

Xie Lan seemed to have guessed Xie Wei's thoughts and warned in a cold voice, "Warning: The Chosen One is currently at a critical juncture of life and death. If the Chosen One dies, the destruction of the world is only a matter of time."

Xie Wei was stunned by Xie Lan's words, and before he could think about it, the next wave of attacks came.

"You filthy bug, you can barely take care of yourself and you still have the mind to be distracted," the man licked his lips, looking somewhat disgusted.

Xie Wei reacted quickly, dodging each attack, but the difference in mental strength was undeniable. Xie Wei was busy dodging mental attacks, allowing the other person to succeed in a sneak attack, and he still accidentally got a cut on his thigh.

Looking at that face, Xie Wei was slightly annoyed. He went to Ye Yan's side and asked, "Without those mental attacks, could you have beaten him?"

Although Ye Yan didn't know what Xie Wei was planning, he still nodded. He hadn't revealed his trump card yet, and he was confident in himself.

Seeing Ye Yan nod, Xie Wei circulated his energy, and his aura grew faster and faster. Under Ye Yan's shocked gaze, he broke through to the mid-stage of the Innate Realm on the spot.

He then released the "Stabilizing Spirit" technique to remove the mental interference Ye Yan had been experiencing.

Xie Wei's spiritual power was already sufficient to reach the mid-stage of the Innate Realm; he had only suppressed his breakthrough to maintain a balance between his mental strength and cultivation.
