In the past few days, I've heard in the business district that the municipal government is interested in collaborating with Canglong Group on land development.
Xie Wei looked at the news report on his phone with some displeasure. If it was about the development of that piece of land, Xie Wei could understand why Ye Yan was looking for a partner.
After all, Ye Yan was just starting out in this industry and wanted to make a career change. That piece of land was indeed a tough nut to crack for the current Canglong Group, so finding someone to cooperate with was a wise move.
But now the roles have changed; the municipal government is now seeking cooperation with the Canglong Group. This inevitably prompts Xie Wei to reflect on the hints from the Eye of Destiny—the important female supporting character and the important female lead.
To cooperate with the municipal government, Xie Wei had to contact Mu Qingcheng, but he had no idea what role Mu Qingcheng played in it, which made him somewhat unhappy.
Xie Wei knew it was his possessiveness at play, but Mu Qingcheng wasn't an object; she had her own thoughts and reasons, and Xie Wei couldn't possibly claim her as his own. Therefore, Xie Wei wanted to find Mu Qingcheng and get some answers.
Xie Wei drove to the city hall, but as soon as she got downstairs, she cursed herself for being impulsive. After all, he was the mayor, working hard for the country's development every day. She had asked him questions because she couldn't control her emotions, which was a bit like a little woman acting.
Xie Wei chuckled self-deprecatingly and shook his head. It seemed that he would lose control whenever it concerned Mu Qingcheng, both in the past and now.
So Xie Wei waited in the car until nightfall. Many people walked past him, but none of them were Mu Qingcheng. As soon as the lights on the top floor went out, Xie Wei couldn't wait to make a phone call.
But just like when Xie Wei called her before, she refused to answer. "Fine," Xie Wei laughed in exasperation.
The moment Mu Qingcheng appeared at the door, Xie Wei noticed that she looked unhappy and a little tired. For some reason, Xie Wei's anger was immediately replaced by heartache.
As Mu Qingcheng stepped out of the municipal government building, a car appeared in front of her. The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Xie Wei's face.
"Mayor Mu, would you do me the honor of having dinner together?" Xie Wei's voice came from inside the car.
Mu Qingcheng seemed not to hear Xie Wei's words and tried to turn around and walk around Xie Wei's car to leave.
"Heartless woman," Xie Wei thought to himself as he watched Mu Qingcheng's actions.
"Little Orange, it's time to pay your debts."
Mu Qingcheng stiffened, looked around to make sure no one was there, then sighed, got into Xie Wei's car, and fastened her seatbelt.
"We haven't eaten yet, let me take you to eat something delicious." Xie Wei started the car, ready to set off for Ta Yun.
"Mr. Xie, could you please take me home?" Mu Qingcheng said somewhat indifferently, her voice tinged with weariness.
Xie Wei glanced at Mu Qingcheng, and upon hearing Mu Qingcheng's form of address, he didn't argue with her. He put on some soothing music and nodded.
"Okay, driver Xiao Xie will serve you throughout the journey. Does this passenger have any other requests?"
Seeing Xie Wei's antics, Mu Qingcheng was somewhat shocked, but still smiled and pursed her lips. Perhaps it was the music, but the previously silent atmosphere eased.
Mu Qing closed her eyes, and Xie Wei didn't make a sound to disturb her, fully fulfilling his duties as a driver.
Xie Wei drove Mu Qingcheng home. Mu Qingcheng opened her eyes as soon as the car stopped, unbuckled her seatbelt, and got out. Mu Qingcheng opened the door and went inside. Xie Wei followed her in. Mu Qingcheng glanced at Xie Wei, said nothing, and went upstairs to pack her things and take a shower.
When Mu Qingcheng came out of the bathroom wearing a silk nightgown after taking a shower, she smelled a fragrance wafting from downstairs. Mu Qingcheng, who didn't have much of an appetite to begin with, couldn't help but swallow her saliva as she smelled the fragrance and followed it to the kitchen downstairs.
Upon arriving at the kitchen door, she saw Xie Wei wearing an apron and busy in the kitchen. As if sensing Mu Qingcheng's gaze, Xie Wei turned around.
"Come help serve the dishes after you've washed up, then wash your hands and eat," Xie Wei said with a smile, noticing the necklace he had given Mu Qingcheng before.
Mu Qingcheng looked at Xie Wei with a puzzled expression, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
Seemingly sensing Mu Qingcheng's confusion, he approached her and pinched her cheek. "What? What are you thinking about? You need to eat well to have the energy to pay off your debts."
Feeling embarrassed that her thoughts had been seen through, Mu Qingcheng slapped Xie Wei's hand away, turned her head away, and went into the kitchen to serve the dishes.
Xie Wei smiled faintly and went to help.
Xie Wei didn't cook much, just four dishes and a soup. As for whether it was delicious or not, you could tell by how quickly Mu Qingcheng devoured it. Looking at the person in front of him, Xie Wei was in a good mood.
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you," Xie Wei said as he served food to Mu Qingcheng, his voice soft and gentle as if he were coaxing her, which made Mu Qingcheng's ears turn slightly red.
After dinner, Mu Qingcheng wanted to do the dishes, but Xie Wei took the bowls from her hands, saying, "You've taken a shower, let me do it. Go wait for me in the same room as last time."
Mu Qingcheng didn't say anything, glared at Xie Wei, shoved the bowl in her hand into Xie Wei's hands, and ran back upstairs.
When Xie Wei finished washing the dishes and went upstairs, he opened the door and saw Mu Qingcheng resting with her eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
Unfortunately, Xie Wei's trembling eyebrows when she opened the door gave away that she was pretending to be asleep. Every time Xie Wei took a step closer to Mu Qingcheng, her eyebrows trembled a little more. Xie Wei found it a bit funny and laughed out loud.
Mu Qingcheng knew she had been exposed for pretending to be asleep. She opened her eyes, spread her hands, turned her head away from Xie Wei, and said with an air of indifference, "You can do it."
"Yes, turn around so it's easier for me," Xie Wei said with a smile.
'Help! What is this person saying? He's not even pretending!' Mu Qingcheng's inner thoughts were quite interesting, but she still turned around, looking like she was waiting to die with her eyes closed.
