Spring is more than halfway over, and the capital city is already in late spring, but the weather in the capital is really not flattering, with temperatures comparable to midsummer.
The news is reporting that Chen escaped from a mental hospital. Residents are urged to be aware and to display his image on the screen so that anyone who sees it can call the police.
Xie Wei also saw the news and recognized Chen Feng on the screen. Xie Wei just smiled indifferently and didn't take it to heart.
"Teacher Xie, have you seen the news?" Su Miaomiao's voice came from the other end of the phone. Xie Wei was coming out of his house, about to go fishing.
"Um?"
"I'm a little scared, Teacher Xie, would you like to come and keep me company?"
"...Address?" Xie Wei asked after a moment of silence. After all, he hadn't handled things properly, and if something really happened to Su Miaomiao, it wouldn't be good if Old Master Su blamed him.
Xie Wei drove to the address Su Miaomiao had given him, which was a square near a school.
Su Miaomiao was wearing a light blue T-shirt, a plaid striped skirt, black mid-calf socks, and beige chunky sneakers. Her hair was tied up with a bow in the same color as her clothes. She stood at the door looking around, seemingly waiting for something.
The moment she saw Xie Wei, her eyebrows curved, the corners of her mouth turned up, revealing her dimples, and she waved to Xie Wei.
Xie Wei approached Su Miaomiao, who handed him something in her hand—a delicate little box inside a beautifully made bag.
Xie Wei looked at Su Miaomiao with some doubt, but still politely accepted the gift. Whether she was being asked to hold it or it was being given to her, she shouldn't have made the other person hold the act of handing her something for an extended period of time.
"I brought this for you when I went to play somewhere else," Su Miaomiao said as she turned and went into the park, her ears seemingly flushed.
"Thank you for your kindness," Xie Wei smiled and followed. Behind them, another figure also entered the park with Xie Wei and the others.
Despite it being a weekday, it was still a park next to a university, and there were quite a few people there, mostly students.
Su Miaomiao deliberately chose a less crowded route to enjoy her time alone with Xie Wei. Xie Wei knew about Su Miaomiao's little scheme but didn't expose it.
The two were strolling and chatting when suddenly a man appeared from behind. It was Chen Feng, with very long hair, looking exactly like a madman.
Holding a kitchen knife that appeared out of nowhere, he rushed towards Xie Wei, shouting, "Xie Wei, you ruined my family and caused my death! Today you'll pay with your life!"
Xie Wei didn't react to Chen Feng's clownish appearance, but Su Miaomiao stepped aside to block Chen Feng and hugged Xie Wei tightly, clearly wanting to take the blow for Xie Wei.
Xie Wei noticed the little girl's movements and his heart tightened. Chen Feng's knife was about to stab Su Miaomiao. Xie Wei hugged Su Miaomiao in his arms and kicked Chen Feng away. The knife fell to the side.
Chen Feng scrambled to his feet, his face filled with terror, and pointed at Xie Wei, shouting, "You're not human! You're not human! You're a monster! You're a monster!" Chen Feng clearly felt his knife pierce Xie Wei's arm, but he found that Xie Wei's arm was as hard as a rock, completely useless.
After shouting, he turned and ran away. Xie Wei ignored him and looked down to check if Su Miaomiao was injured. Seeing that Su Miaomiao hadn't lost a single hair, he felt inexplicably relieved.
"Is it really okay not to chase after him?" Su Miaomiao pointed in the direction Chen Feng had fled.
"It's alright, someone will handle it." As soon as Xie Wei finished speaking, Su Miaomiao saw people in white clothes taking Chen Feng into custody.
"Don't be so foolish next time. With my level of cultivation, he poses no threat to me," Xie Wei tapped Su Miaomiao's forehead.
With Xie Wei's current level of skill, unless it's a heavy weapon, it basically can't hurt him. Last time, the little girl did the same, disregarding everything to stand in front of Xie Wei.
"Hehe," Su Miaomiao rubbed her forehead and chuckled a few times, "Isn't this to make Teacher Xie a little more touched, so I can win her over sooner?"
"So, was Teacher Xie moved?" Su Miaomiao leaned closer to Xie Wei and asked, tilting her head.
Xie Wei did not answer her, but looked at the person in front of him, his eyes flashing with many emotions.
Su Miaomiao smiled and stepped forward to hug Xie Wei's neck. "Teacher Xie, they say love isn't a necessity of life, but I don't think that's true. Being in love with you is a necessity for me."
"So, Teacher Xie, would you like to give it a try with me?"
No one could refuse such a passionate and direct confession from a girl, and Xie Wei was no exception. So, following his heart, Xie Wei nodded.
Su Miaomiao happily kissed Xie Wei's nose, then reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist, embracing him.
Perhaps Xie Wei knew from the moment the girl first confessed that he would eventually fall in love with her, which is why he rejected her time and time again. The words he uttered were not only rejections of the girl but also warnings to himself.
But the girl's love was too intense, and Xie Wei couldn't help but be moved. That's why he willingly fell into her trap time and time again. Perhaps Xie Wei was just an ordinary person.
"Teacher Xie, would you like to hold my hand?" Su Miaomiao extended her hand to Xie Wei.
Since he had told her he wanted to give it a try and they had established a relationship, Xie Wei wasn't shy at all and readily took her hand.
Su Miaomiao looked at Xie Wei happily, putting Chen Feng's matter out of her mind, and walked away with a sense of joy.
When it was time for dinner, Su Miaomiao deliberately asked Xie Wei, "Teacher Xie, now that Chen Feng's matter is resolved, I'm not scared anymore. Will you stay and keep me company?"
Xie Wei flicked Su Miaomiao's forehead. "What do you think? You know perfectly well what I mean."
Su Miaomiao looked at Xie Wei with a grin.
"Or is it that you've made plans with other guys tonight, and it's inappropriate for me to be there?" Xie Wei raised an eyebrow, turning the tables on him.
