New Year's Eve Bonus: Happy New Year!

(This happened before Xie Wei and Xu Daiwei officially became a couple, but after they returned to China.)

I haven't seen Xie Shengyu and the others for half a year, so I'll definitely be going back for the New Year.

Xie Wei originally planned to take Xu Daiwei back home for the New Year, but Xu Daiwei was a little embarrassed and wanted to refuse.

"Brother, are we really going?" Xu Daiwei looked at Xie Wei, who was driving.

"After thinking about it, I've decided to take you home for the New Year," Xie Wei said with a smile. "Since you're calling me brother, my parents are your parents, and my home is your home."

"What if my uncle and aunt don't like me?" Xu Daiwei asked the question that had been bothering her. Although she and Xie Wei hadn't officially started dating yet, she knew best what she was thinking. This was considered meeting the parents!

Xie Wei reached out a hand and patted her head, trying to ease her worries: "No, my parents are very nice people. You're amazing, they'll definitely like you."

Hearing Xie Wei praise her like that, she felt a little shy and nodded slightly under Xie Wei's large palm.

When Xie Wei arrived at the Xie family's door in the capital, he never expected that he would have to ring the doorbell to come home one day.

I rang the doorbell, and a few minutes later Zheng Huaiyu came to open the door.

Xie Wei shouted first, "Mom, I'm back!"

Xu Daiwei was on edge when she heard Xie Wei call for help. Without thinking, she blurted out, "Mom!"

Upon hearing Xu Daiwei's address, Zheng Huaiyu was taken aback for a moment, then quickly responded with an "Eh."

Xu Daiwei quickly realized she had called him by the wrong name and tried to make amends, "(⊙o⊙)..., no, um, Auntie, I called you by the wrong name."

He looked at Xu Daiwei with a big smile and said, "You must be Xiaowei, right? I didn't call you wrong." Then he took Xu Daiwei's hand and led her into the Xie family's house.

Xie Wei, who had been ignored by everyone, finally received a pleading look from Xu Daiwei.

Xie Wei shrugged; there was nothing he could do about his mother.

"Um, Auntie, he and I don't have that kind of relationship," Xu Daiwei said.

Zheng Huaiyu took her hand and sat her down on the sofa in the living room. "I know, but doesn't that mean you have to call me Mom?"

"Besides, you'll have to call her that sooner or later, so it doesn't matter if you do it now," Zheng Huaiyu pointed out the girl's thoughts.

The girl lowered her head shyly for a moment, but still insisted softly, "Later, I'll change how I address you later."

Zheng Huaiyu smiled, growing more and more fond of the girl before him. He patted her hand and said, "Okay, I'll do as you say. Call me 'Auntie' for now, and you can change how you address me later."

Xie Weicai had just brought his things in from the doorway.

"What are you chatting about? You seem to be having a great time. Where's Dad?" Xie Wei was relieved to see his mother and Xu Daiwei chatting so happily.

Your dad is cooking in the kitchen.

No sooner had Zheng Huaiyu finished speaking than Xie Shengyu came out wearing an apron and sleeves. No one expected that the president of the Xie Group, who was so imposing outside, would be like this at home.

"You brat, go and put up the couplets on the door as soon as you get back. I've prepared all the tools for you; they're on that table by the door," Xie Shengyu instructed Xie Wei as soon as he saw him.

Xie Wei agreed and started walking towards the door before he could even catch his breath.

"Auntie, let me go help him," Xu Daiwei said to Zheng Huaiyu, seeing Xie Wei like this.

Zheng Huaiyu smiled and let Xu Daiwei go.

"Brother!" Xie Weiyi held the Spring Festival couplets in one hand and the brush for brushing rice paste in the other. He had just stepped onto the stool to put up the couplets when Xu Daiwei came out.

"Why did you come out? Aren't you going to chat with Mom?" Xie Wei asked.

"I told Auntie I'd come out to help you," Xu Daiwei said, helping Xie Wei steady the stool he was standing on and gently patting him.

Xie Wei was very touched: "You really are my good sister. I'll give you an extra chicken leg tonight."

After the two finished putting up the Spring Festival couplets, Xie Shengyu had also finished cooking.

Everyone began to eat their New Year's Eve dinner, like a happy family. Along the way, they even had a video call with the reclusive Xie family to exchange New Year's greetings.

After finishing their New Year's Eve dinner, Xie Wei somehow got some fireworks and firecrackers and set them off with Xu Daiwei at the door.

The capital city naturally has regulations in this regard, but this is right in front of the Xie family's house, so no one will come to manage it, nor would anyone dare to.

Watching the fireworks bursting in dazzling colors, Xu Daiwei glanced at Xie Wei and then clasped her hands together, silently making a wish.

She knew that Xie Wei brought her to the Xie family home for the New Year because he didn't want her to be alone anymore; he didn't want her to watch others reunite for the New Year while she was all alone; he didn't want her to be eating instant noodles while others were enjoying a sumptuous New Year's Eve dinner.

Xie Wei was such a warm person. Xu Daiwei thought that she could avenge her parents and being by his side was enough. She shouldn't be greedy for anything more. But how could such a person not be tempting?

When she opened her eyes, she saw Xie Wei looking at her, his eyes filled with her, and her heart skipped a beat.

"What are you wishing for? Why are you so serious?" Xie Wei crossed his arms behind his head, revealing his carefree and irreverent nature only at times like this.

"What's the point of making a wish? You might as well tell your brother; he's more effective than any of these things."

Xu Daiwei smiled without saying a word, and Xie Wei had no choice but to give up.

Xie Shengyu and Zheng Huaiyu, a married couple, stood at the door watching the two young people.

"The little girl seems to really like our rascal," Xie Shengyu said.

"Yes, the young lady has made ample preparations," Zheng Huaiyu said, linking arms with him.

"Let the young people do what they want. Let that brat walk his own path." With that, Xie Shengyu took his wife's hand and went back to their room.

Xie Shengyu and his wife went back to their room, while Xie Wei had the habit of staying up all night on New Year's Eve. Xu Daiwei saw Xie Wei in the living room and naturally stayed with him there as well.

As soon as the clock struck twelve, the little girl looked at Xie Wei with a beaming smile and said, "Happy New Year, brother!"

The little girl's happy expression caught Xie Wei's eye, and perhaps that's when he started to fall for her, thinking that it wouldn't be bad to have someone like that by his side.

(Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and good fortune! We meet through this book to send you New Year's blessings. It's a bit short, please don't mind. I hope everyone will do better and better, and I also hope that everyone can meet their right person. Don't be like the author, who, upon returning, can only eat other people's dog food.)
