Chapter 11: Soul Ferry (1)
Even more annoying than the Riddler is the Out-of-Chapter Dog.
Ron once committed two original sins at once.
Ron complained in his mind, but it was understandable.
Just from the handwriting, one can tell that when this string of words was left behind, the original owner of this body was on the verge of madness.
He couldn't judge what kind of pressure the original owner had been under before being replaced by him, which led to such madness.
Do n't study certain things, don't touch certain things?
Or pray to some existence to stop torturing him?
What on earth is he afraid of? Various complicated thoughts quickly grew in his mind, and Ron's head was in chaos. He accepted the memory of the original owner, but it was mainly about common sense and knowledge, and very little else.
He opened the notebook and tried to find more content from the back, but this was a brand new notebook and there were no traces left on the back.
He sighed. If he could find other notebooks and know what the original Ron had experienced, perhaps he would be able to understand what this sentence meant.
Ron searched the desk, opening every book and every piece of parchment, but there was nothing in it that could connect with the notebook.
He searched the storage ring again, but there was no relevant record in it. Perhaps Ron's previous notebook had been lost, or it might have been stolen when he was kidnapped by the Eternal Freedom Sect! Shaking his head, although there were many doubts in his mind, Ron stopped thinking about this problem for the time being. He looked at the other two things on the table that attracted him.
A rubbing of a piece of stone, filled with the smell of decay and ruin.
The rubbing was imprinted with a typical Eternal Freedom sect pattern, a symbol that looked like a human reproductive organ. This was what the sect wanted Ron to interpret.
But there is no doubt that the original Ron was extremely disgusted with the Church of Eternal Freedom. He did not even translate any word on the rubbing, but just threw it aside casually.
On the contrary, the quaint and decayed stone slab was placed in the middle of the table. It was obvious that Ron attached great importance to this stone slab.
He must have spent a lot of energy on this slate.
The parchment next to it was filled with densely written words, which were all records left by the original Ron.
The stone slab was an irregular square in shape, with densely packed, scribble-like words...or patterns.
These ancient characters are a series of symbols designed by the game company itself. They are obscure and difficult to understand. It is said that there are nearly two thousand such characters in total.
There were big players who researched and deciphered the game characters. At that time, Ron just glanced at it casually, but he was not very interested in them and did not pay too much attention to them. In comparison, he preferred some special CGs.
So much so that even now that he had the slate, he still couldn't figure out the true meaning of the words, which made Ron a little annoyed.
Although the original Ron had made great achievements in the study of ancient characters, this belonged to a long-lost civilization after all, and the difficulty of studying it can be imagined. Even if he completely inherited the knowledge and memory of the original owner of the body, he could only recognize less than one-tenth of the characters on the stone slab. It was almost impossible to decipher the contents of the stone slab based on these.
Looking at the slate, a strange thought suddenly occurred to Ron:
What do you want? It can't be that you don't want to translate the rubbings, or in other words, you don't want to continue studying or even touch this stone tablet...
While he was thinking about it, his fingers had unknowingly fallen on the stone slab. He hurriedly tried to pull his fingers away, but at this moment, his mind suddenly went blank and he felt someone was watching him.
It seemed as if a pair of mysterious eyes were staring at him from above.
In an instant, a dense layer of small bumps appeared on Ron's skin.
The feeling was not strong, but Ron felt the fear of weightless falling silently.
Whose sight was that? He subconsciously looked up, but all he could see was a thick, impenetrable black.
Noisy whispers began to echo in my ears, the crackling of a raging fire, the surging of a tidal wave, the wailing of someone on the verge of death, the cold operation of a machine, the groaning of indulgence, and the rustling of sand falling in an hourglass...
Ron was in a trance, his eyesight was taken away in an instant, and his head felt as if it was split open by an axe. He wanted to wail, but he couldn't make any sound. He didn't want to listen to the strange mumbling, but the sound kept pouring into his mind, asking him to distinguish and feel...
Just when Ron was about to collapse and his head was about to explode, the whispers in his ears suddenly disappeared, and his body became light as if floating in the clouds.
He tried his best to regain control of his body, but even a simple action like opening his eyes was difficult to accomplish. He didn't know how much time had passed, but he seemed to hear a "swish" sound, as if two pieces of paper stuck together were finally separated, and Ron opened his eyes.
The first thing that caught my eye was an extremely huge ship.
He stood on the deck and looked around. The hull was pale in color. If you look closely, you will find that it is made up of countless strange skeletons.
No one knows what kind of creature these bones belong to. They are as huge as mountains, and there is a huge head at the bow, which looks like a human, but is really too big.
The bones without any flesh and blood look even more hideous.
The high-hanging sails were made of rotten skins. On the railings around the deck were hung countless skulls. They were the skulls of humans... or elves, or dwarves.
Just like a wind chime, it sways in the cold wind, making creaking and crackling sounds when it collides with others.
Looking further away, there is a pitch-black ocean without any luster. The inky sea water seems like a viscous fluid, slowly wriggling.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
Ron's face was solemn, with shock and confusion inevitably revealed on his face.
He was no stranger to this ship.
The boat that carries souls!
This is the place where the soul will appear after the player dies in the game Goddess x Black Beast.
The surrounding ocean is jokingly called the Eternal Sea by players, the Black Sea.
After the player dies, the soul will stay on the Soul Ferry for a period of time, ride the Soul Ferry across the Sea of Eternity, and finally enter the Hall of Rebirth to start over.
This place is gloomy, quiet, and depressing. It can be said to be one of the maps that makes players feel most uncomfortable and frightened... and when you appear here in person, the feeling is even stronger.
Why did he appear on the Soul Ferry?
Could it be that... he is dead?
The thought that suddenly popped up in Ron's mind made him shudder and his scalp tingled.
He subconsciously placed his palm on his chest, and his fingers passed through his body silently... Ron's face became more and more gloomy. Now he was a pure soul body! This was not a discovery worth celebrating.
Ron forced himself to calm down.
Soul ferry, eternal sea? Speaking of which, in the mission issued by the system, after conquering system Elsa, you can get the heart of eternity?
They are all eternal, could there be some kind of connection between them? Suddenly, Ron glimpsed from the corner of his eye that there was a ring with a ship-shaped pattern on his right index finger. Through this ring, he seemed to have gained some connection with the ship.
He looked down at his hands:
Soul-Ferrying Boat: [Only for the gods! ]
Hiss! Ron leaned back instantly and took a breath of cold air.
