Chapter 20 The Spoiled Two-Baby Plan
When Liang Jingzhuo came downstairs, Zhuang Shuying was busy preparing for an afternoon tea party in the garden, saying that relatives and friends would be coming later.
Seeing Liang Jingzhuo come out, she peeked in and asked, "Where's Xiao Ci?"
Liang Jingzhuo glanced at the servants who were busy moving tea sets and pastries, and replied, "Upstairs, pack your luggage."
Zhuang Shuying said "Oh," glanced at him, and asked, "What, are you going out?"
He straightened his cufflinks and replied, "Going to the company."
Zhuang Shuying frowned slightly in displeasure. "It's Xiao Ci's first day here, and you've already left her all alone. That's not good. Can't we resolve this online?"
As usual, Liang Jingzhuo would reply at this point: "Why would I go out if I can solve this online?"
But he didn't today. After a moment's hesitation, he replied, "No, I'll be back in about two hours."
Zhuang Shuying's expression brightened, and she glanced at him, a glimmer of light suddenly appearing at the edge of her vision.
She turned her gaze and saw that Liang Jingzhuo was wearing a ring on the ring finger of his left hand.
Uncle Zhong had already reported this to her before.
It was when Uncle Zhong went to the airport to pick up Liang Jingzhuo from London that he noticed the ring. Uncle Zhong got out of the car to help him with his luggage, and in the blink of an eye, he saw the dazzling ring on Liang Jingzhuo's hand.
That evening, Zhuang Shuying received a call from Uncle Zhong.
To reassure her, Jingzhuo and Miss Qingci are making good progress; they've even put on rings.
Although Liang Jingzhuo often annoyed her, Zhuang Shuying was quite satisfied with this matter. It was like an iron tree finally blooming, a cause for celebration.
She looked away, her expression brightening. "Okay, be careful on the road."
Liang Jingzhuo didn't delve into Ms. Zhuang's secret art of changing her expression. Lu Li called to say that he had arrived at the Liang family mansion. He responded and went out.
-
Xie Qingci sat in front of the wardrobe for a while, hugging her knees, looking at Liang Jingzhuo's personal belongings.
From ties, suits, casual wear, and pajamas to various watches and accessories... she felt she wasn't doing too well.
In other words, she would be sleeping in the same room with him tonight. Thinking of this, she looked around the huge master bedroom. There was only a sofa, just wide enough for sitting, placed by the window, which was not wide enough for a single person to lie down. The possibility of sleeping in separate beds was completely ruled out.
She covered her face and sighed, then stood up and decided to pack her luggage first.
I took a breath and told myself—
It's perfectly normal. They're getting married tomorrow, and it's perfectly normal for legally married couples to sleep together.
Yes, that's normal.
It was bound to happen sooner or later.
She took out the dresses and hung them up one by one. When she saw a splash of color suddenly appear in the otherwise somber and serious color scheme of the wardrobe, she couldn't help but hold her breath for a moment.
At the same time, she also discovered another embarrassing problem: where should she put her underwear?
Standing in front of the wardrobe, I hesitated for a while between keeping it in the suitcase and finding a storage cabinet to put it in, but in the end I chose the latter.
She was going to be spending a week with Liang Jingzhuo, and she couldn't possibly take out her suitcase to get her underwear every day; that would be too embarrassing.
She took a deep breath and glanced at the short cabinet with the shirts hanging there. Below it was a row of storage drawers, presumably for storing small items.
She reached out and pulled it out. The silent rollers moved slowly, and as she expected, it was indeed a place to store small items, except that it contained... Liang Jingzhuo's underwear.
The black, solid-color underwear was folded up and neatly arranged, taking up only about half the space, leaving most of the space unused.
A warm sensation involuntarily rose behind her ear, and Xie Qingci regretted opening the drawer. She quickly pushed it closed and opened the next drawer.
They were all small accessories like cufflinks and tie clips. As you opened the remaining drawers, they were covered with Liang Jingzhuo's other small items.
The only space was the drawer where he had stored half of his underwear.
She glanced again at the drawer she had just closed, bit her lip, clenched her fist, and then, as if taking a gamble, pulled it open again.
-
Liang Jingzhuo returned near the end of the tea party. The garden was bustling with activity in the sunset. It was Xie Qingci's first time visiting, and her family and friends were eager to meet her.
He was called to a stop as he walked along the stone path outside the garden.
Their forward steps stopped, they changed direction, and walked over.
His aunt stopped him and asked, "Why are you only coming back now? Why are you leaving Xiao Ci here alone?"
The intimate and familiar tone of their conversation indicated that Xie Qingci had gotten along quite well with them that afternoon.
He glanced at Xie Qingci sitting at the table. A maid brought him a chair, and he sat down next to her, replying, "Something came up at the company, so I had to go."
Ms. Zhuang told him to come back early, but he didn't handle the finishing touches himself, leaving them to Lu Li to finish for him.
Upon hearing this, his aunt pretended to scold him, "After you get married, you should spend more time with Xiao Ci. You can't keep being such a workaholic like this."
Since joining Liang's company, Liang Jingzhuo's reputation as a workaholic has become well-known. Apart from normal rest, if you try to contact him at other times, the answer is usually that he is working.
However, in recent years, the group has indeed been thriving and undergoing continuous innovation under his leadership.
Xie Qingci was surrounded by attention and discussion all afternoon. Liang Jingzhuo's return saved her. Seeing that the focus of the conversation had finally shifted to someone else, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Aunts and maternal aunts are always the biggest gossip group, and in one afternoon she talked about whether she planned to pursue a master's degree after finishing her undergraduate studies, and when asked when she and Liang Jingzhuo planned to have a baby.
Then the group started chattering about auspicious days, saying they should go to Master Yun to have a good name chosen.
Just as the conversation was getting out of control and they started discussing plans for a second child, Liang Jingzhuo returned, saving her from a potentially dangerous situation.
Liang Jingzhuo didn't refute, and simply replied, "Mm."
Someone in the crowd chuckled and then said, "We were just chatting with Xiao Ci, and she mentioned she's planning to have a second child. What do you think?"
As soon as she finished speaking, another aunt chimed in, "The men are just responsible for cooperating; how could he dare to have any ideas?"
If a woman is willing to give birth, a man should be thanking his lucky stars; why would he have any opinions or thoughts about it?
Xie Qingci was taken aback. She had just said, "This still needs to respect the wishes of both parties."
Facing a group of Liang family relatives and friends, she couldn't very well tell them that she and he probably didn't have such a plan.
But when did she say she had a plan?
Liang Jingzhuo's gaze had already turned towards her, his eyes calm and collected. She slowly turned her head and glanced at him, "No..."
Before she could finish speaking, Zhuang Shuying came out of the house and stood outside the garden, reminding everyone that dinner was ready.
Everyone agreed in unison, put down the fruits and snacks they were holding, and got up to walk into the house.
Xie Qingci also got up and decided to choose amnesia to forget the incident that had just happened.
He probably wouldn't even bother with this plan.
Liang Jingzhuo looked at her, thought for a moment, and said seriously, "If you have this idea, I can cooperate."
"..."
-
After dinner, the aunts and uncles said they would go to the law firm the next day to have their marriage notarized, and they would also go to meet the relatives and friends. They asked Liang Jingzhuo what time it was scheduled.
He replied, "Nine o'clock, but apart from the officiant, Xie Qingci and I don't plan to bring anyone else."
This effectively turned down the remaining relatives and friends who were also eager to try. If one person does it, another will follow, so it's better to cut off the connection at the source.
The main reason was that he felt Xie Qingci would feel uncomfortable with so many people around, especially since they were all people she wasn't very familiar with.
Although Ms. Zhuang chose Hong Kong Island as the location for marriage registration because she felt the atmosphere there was romantic and ceremonial, she still avoided any unnecessary scenes that might make her uncomfortable.
The group smiled and glanced at him, not pressuring him, but instructing Zhuang Shuying to make tomorrow's video look good, as they wanted to see it.
Zhuang Shuying beamed with joy and readily agreed, assuring them that her skills were still reliable.
After a lively gathering, it was getting late. Zhuang Shuying, who had been busy for several days, said she was tired.
Hsieh Ching-Tzu and Liang Ching-Chu also had a long flight this morning, so they should get some rest as well. The bride and groom-to-be need to be in good shape for tomorrow.
The terms "bride-to-be" and "groom-to-be" startled them both. They exchanged a glance, pursed their lips, and responded before turning and leaving.
Aunt Ali was tidying up the water glasses on the island when she glanced at the two figures walking away and laughed, "She was shy the first time she saw Jingzhuo."
Even someone who always has a cold, poker face and an unapproachable demeanor will feel embarrassed!
Before the two came to Hong Kong, Zhuang Shuying was worried that Xie Qingci might not be able to stand Liang Jingzhuo's personality. But now that she sees that the two are getting along quite well, she is finally relieved.
He took a sip of water, glanced at the two people's backs, and smiled.
-
When they took the elevator upstairs, Xie Qingci and Liang Jingzhuo remained silent, continuing the subtle atmosphere from before.
As they stepped off the elevator together in the bedroom area on the third floor, Liang Jingzhuo paused slightly and glanced at her.
Remembering that there were indeed a few guest rooms scattered around this floor besides his bedroom, he didn't say anything.
Next, they turned at the same intersection and stopped in front of the same door.
He felt she was being a little too polite today; why did she even escort him to his door?
He paused for a moment, then looked at her and said, "Good night."
Xie Qingci nodded. "Good night."
But there was no indication that he intended to turn around and leave.
He continued, "I'm going back to my room."
He gestured to indicate that the place in front of him was his bedroom.
Xie Qingci glanced at the door in front of her, pursed her lips and looked at him, "I'm going back to my room too."
In a split second, Liang Jingzhuo's eyebrows first furrowed slightly, then relaxed and lifted slightly upwards.
His expression quickly shifted from confusion to understanding and shock.
His lips moved slightly, he paused for a moment, holding his breath, and then he fully understood what it meant.
He looked away and replied with a soft "Mm".
Entering the master bedroom from the living room, Liang Jingzhuo's gaze lingered on the bed in the center, where most of the decorations remained unchanged.
The only difference was that the bedding was changed to light pink, and the originally cold and sturdy American-style bedside lamp was replaced with a cute little flower lamp.
His brow furrowed slightly.
What is Ms. Zhuang doing?
Was it premeditated?
Xie Qingci's ears started to burn again, and her palms were slightly damp. She asked him, "Would you... take a shower first?"
Liang Jingzhuo snapped out of her daze, looked down at him, and said, "No need, you go first."
After saying that, he realized why she had asked him that, and said, "I...I'm going out for a bit."
After speaking, she turned and walked out of the master bedroom. Only when she heard the door outside the living room close did Xie Qingci glance at the bathroom not far away and walk over.
Liang Jingzhuo left the bedroom and strode towards the three guest rooms on this floor. He paused for a moment when he opened the first room.
The original guest room has been converted into an office area, and the bed has disappeared.
The second room was turned into a gym, and the third room was turned into a storage room...
He gripped the doorknob of the last guest room, remained silent for a moment, and confirmed that all of this was Ms. Zhuang's doing.
The fingertips gripping the doorknob turned slightly white from the force, and a thin, fine dampness seeped out.
My thoughts gradually calmed down and settled, and I realized a fact.
He was going to sleep in the same room as Xie Qingci tonight.
