Chapter 28 Scalding Heat

Chapter 28 Indulging Your Arrogance and Burning Heat

A long, eerie silence fell over the room.

After a long while, Liang Jingzhuo spoke up: "Do you know what I mean?"

Her bringing it up on her own initiative made him feel that she might not have fully understood what he was saying, or that he hadn't expressed himself clearly.

Xie Qingci isn't a three-year-old child; she's an adult and of course understands what it means.

"Know."

After she answered, the atmosphere fell silent again.

The lack of lights and the silence made the atmosphere even more eerie.

Xie Qingci suddenly felt her face flush and her ears burn. Had she really misunderstood him?

Was that not what he was referring to?

"Hmm... never mind."

Just as she turned around, closed her eyes, and prepared to go to sleep, Liang Jingzhuo replied, "No."

After a two-second pause, he continued, his tone calm and serious, "We did not prepare any family planning supplies."

Deng Bo'an had reminded him, and he was aware of it, but it was a bit disrespectful of him to unilaterally prepare all of this for their first date after their marriage.

Although he wasn't that traditional, he still felt that this was something that needed to be done with both parties understanding each other.

And he didn't ask her out on a date just for this reason.

Xie Qingci felt that she had spoken quite subtly. She thought that they would have a tacit and implicit exchange between them, but she did not expect him to say it so directly.

The burning sensation on my face spread further down, even making my neck feel hot.

"Oh..." She turned her head, intending to say that it was fine then, when the person next to her suddenly spoke up: "Should I have the concierge send it?"

"..."

The question made it sound like she was impatient, and Xie Qingci felt like she was about to evaporate. "...That's not necessary."

"OK."

"..."

The darkness fell silent again, but the atmosphere seemed even more awkward than before.

Xie Qingci's palms were sweaty, her heart was pounding in her throat, her damp fingertips clenched into a fist, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and decided to go to sleep.

After a long time, she still couldn't feel sleepy, so she shifted her body and changed her position to lie on her side.

Just as she turned her neck, a burning hot hand suddenly brushed against her cheek, long fingers slid down her ear and into the hair behind her head, and at the same moment she felt a familiar touch on her lips.

His dry, slightly cool lips enveloped hers, and he kissed her with practiced ease.

The sudden physical contact made her freeze for a moment, and her neck instinctively tilted back.

The hand clasped on the side of her head applied slight negative pressure, preventing her from escaping. The kiss on her lips skillfully pushed her lips apart, and the person in front of her moved closer.

Their soft bodies intertwined, their breaths trembled slightly, and she placed her hand on his chest, closed her eyes, and responded softly.

It wasn't their first kiss, but the process seemed different from the previous ones; it wasn't a gentle breeze, but rather carried a hint of unspoken desire.

When the person lying next to her leaned in, Xie Qingci understood what was going to happen, and her feverish head began to go haywire.

They could not hear any sound, nor could they sense any other objects besides each other.

He got up, briefly withdrew, then came back up, his lips meeting hers, and continued kissing her.

In the dim light, only the sounds of kissing and the rustling of blankets falling could be heard.

The lack of visual stimulation amplifies the tactile sensation, making it feel scalding and hot.

When the doorbell rang abruptly, a moment of clarity flashed through Xie Qingci's mind. Liang Jingzhuo released his hand that was supporting her head and knelt up.

His dark eyes seemed dreamy, his Adam's apple bobbed twice, and as he looked at the person lying beneath him, his voice was hoarse as he said, "Wait for me." Then he got off the bed.

Xie Qingci lay on the pillow, her lips bright red, her thoughts still hazy.

A sliver of light shone through the door to the reception room. After a few polite conversations, the door closed, and darkness returned to the surroundings.

After Liang Jingzhuo retrieved his belongings, he returned. The approaching footsteps sounded like the drums announcing war, and Xie Qingci finally pulled herself out of the strange fever.

He went back to bed.

The two stared at each other silently for a moment in the darkness.

Liang Jingzhuo once again braced himself on either side of her body, lowered his head to kiss her, giving her two gentle pecks. His voice regained a little clarity, but it was still decadent and deep, "I never did."

"If you feel unwell, please tell me."

Xie Qingci's eyelashes fluttered, and she nodded gently, responding in a soft voice, "Mm."

The kiss came again, and the hand that had been supporting the back of her head moved to a different spot, the movements still awkward and immature.

His mind was boiling over again. Midway through, Liang Jingzhuo got up, took off his shirt, and the silky fabric became hot and stuffy from his body heat.

The room was too dark, and because I wasn't familiar with the process and my vision was blurry, it took me a while to unpack the items.

Xie Qingci felt a little cold. As she groped for a blanket, her hot skin pressed against her without any obstruction. It was a firm and strong body. She fell into the heat he brought her again.

...

Compared to the already familiar kiss, everything else was unfamiliar, and he frequently stumbled and made mistakes. Finally, when he heard the sound of rain falling outside the window, Liang Jingzhuo figured out the trick.

During that time, it started to rain outside the window. For the past few days since I arrived in Hong Kong, the weather has been sunny and warm.

As the sound of rain pattering against the windowsill reached her ears, Xie Qingci's thoughts were in turmoil. She murmured, "It's raining, Liang Jingzhuo."

His voice was weak and fragile, yet when his name was uttered, it was clear and moving.

He responded with a hoarse, incoherent "Mmm."

As she moved from the foot of the bed to the headboard, she tilted her head and rested it on his shoulder, her slender arms weakly encircling him. Warm tears rolled down her cheeks as she softly called his name: "Liang Jingzhuo..."

The temperature of his tears was almost burning him; his plaintive voice, like a pebble falling into water, rippled through his heart, making him even more tense.

His lips parted slightly, he breathed softly, his throat dry and sore, and he replied softly, "I'm here."

In the calming yet rising chaos, he kissed her sweaty forehead, the tears around her eyes, the tip of her small nose, her soft lips, and her delicate, slender shoulders and back.

Gently and devoutly, they completed their shared first time.

...

When the desk lamp was turned on, Liang Jingzhuo reached out and blocked Xie Qingci's view. Light peeked through his fingers, and she squinted slightly until her vision was fully exposed to the bright light before he removed his hand.

When the skin is soaked with sweat and comes into contact with the air, a slight coolness rises to the surface.

He brushed the sticky hair from her forehead, leaned down and kissed her damp forehead. "Are you cold?"

Xie Qingci closed her eyes, and whether it was from the cold or not, she nodded nonetheless, "A little."

He placed his hands on either side of her head and said, "I'll take you to take a bath."

This sentence was like a spell to awaken a sleeping magic, and Xie Qingci suddenly opened her eyes.

A scene she couldn't see clearly in the darkness appeared before her eyes. Her gaze fell on his chest, which gleamed with a crystalline sheen, and she looked away as if burned, hugging her pillow. "No need."

"Then you go first."

"Um."

Then came another period of silent staring at each other for a while.

Liang Jingzhuo also broke out in a sweat, his handsome eyes glistening with a tender moisture. As he watched her blinking eyes, he understood what she meant.

She got up from the bed, picked up her pajamas from the floor, put them on, glanced at the person on the bed who was hugging a pillow and not moving, and said, "Wake me up when you're done washing up."

After saying that, he stepped out of the bedroom.

After closing the bedroom door, Xie Qingci lay on the bed for a while before sitting up. She glanced around at the messy bed, her face flushing again.

When my toes touched the carpet, I couldn't help but shiver. It wasn't from the cold, but a primal reaction of my body.

After lingering in the bathroom for a while, a strange sensation lingered in a certain part of her body. Xie Qingci's thoughts suddenly sharpened, and her face turned completely red.

Only when the continuous flow of water washed away the red marks and pain from her skin did she reach out and turn it off, wipe the water dry, put on her pajamas, and go outside.

Liang Jingzhuo was still outside. The scene of her calling his name in the darkness was still vivid in her mind. She moved her lips, but suddenly couldn't bring herself to say his name.

I picked up my phone and texted him, "I'm done washing."

He didn't reply; the footsteps coming from outside the reception room confirmed that he had seen the message.

Xie Qingci sat on the edge of the bed and watched him open the door and come in.

Their eyes met, and then there was another moment of silence.

The atmosphere didn't improve; in fact, it became even more awkward than before.

He said, "I'm going to take a shower, you go to sleep first."

Xie Qingci's eyes darted away, but she nodded and replied, "Okay."

Xie Qingci hadn't been in the group chat for a long time, and Ke Meng and Duan Siyu finally couldn't sit still any longer.

Even if we don't adopt their terrible ideas, the problem should be solved by now.

Ke Meng frantically called out: "[Aci! Where have you been! It's been three hours! If you don't come out soon, we're going to report you as a missing person!]"

Xie Qingci picked up her vibrating phone, just about to retract her lie and reply that she hadn't seen it.

Duan Siyu's message followed shortly after: "Is it possible that I didn't reply because I adopted your suggestion?"

That hit the nail on the head; a lucky accident.

Xie Qingci paused on the keyboard, turned off the screen with a click, threw back the covers and lay down. She decided it was better to go to sleep.

While taking a shower, Liang Jingzhuo felt a burning pain in his shoulder. As the hot water washed over him, the pain gradually intensified. He glanced to the side and saw a small tooth mark on the spot.

The skin was not broken, just some bruises.

He thought for a moment and realized it was left when he had just held her on his lap and leaned against the headboard.

She was not used to it, and inflicted the same pain and unbearable suffering on him as on her.

A certain memory surfaced in his mind, and the dryness that had subsided returned to his throat. He paused, forced himself to look away, put on his pajamas, and went outside.

The warm yellow light of the desk lamp shone softly, and a small mound rose slightly under the blanket on the bed. Xie Qingci was already asleep. He paused for a moment, then walked over more quietly.

He gazed at her for a while in the dim light, then placed a kiss on her forehead.

-

When Xie Qingci woke up, her mind was still hazy, and she was somewhat unaware of what day it was. She couldn't remember when she had fallen asleep the night before.

She felt very sleepy and tired. When she regained consciousness, she frowned with her eyes closed and recalled the events of last night as if rewinding a video. Only then did she realize that they were not at the Liang family mansion.

She was sleeping so soundly that her sleeping position hardly changed, and her body was a little stiff and numb. She shifted her body, wanting to move around, but the arm wrapped around her waist blocked her movement.

She paused, her memory lingering on a certain spot, then looked down and quietly lifted the covers.

She was still dressed properly, her hands hanging casually from her waist, her knuckles slightly bent, and the veins on the back of her hands clearly visible and strong.

She breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that she had lost another part of her memory while she was asleep.

After calming herself down, she reached out and pinched his fingers, trying to take them away. But as soon as she touched them, he grabbed her hand and pulled her back to his waist, pulling her backward until her back was pressed against a hot chest.

"woke up?"

A familiar, cold voice, tinged with the languor of someone just waking up, drifted in from behind.

The thin fabric of their clothes made their body heat feel warm against each other, and Xie Qingci stiffened slightly before responding softly, "Mmm."

Her thoughts inexplicably drifted back to last night, to his breath hot against her ear, calling her name and asking if she felt unwell, his voice sensually languid.

The flush on her cheeks spread again, and she shifted her gaze uncomfortably.

The pressure on his waist disappeared, and the chest pressed against him receded. Liang Jingzhuo lay flat and covered his eyelids with the back of his hand.

He rarely sleeps in, in fact, he never does. Today is the first time he doesn't know what time it is.

I picked up my phone to check the time.

It wasn't too late. He turned to look at the person lying beside him like a wooden statue, then sat up. "What do you want for breakfast?"

Xie Qingci lay obediently, then turned to look at him upon hearing this, and said, "Anything is fine."

He asked, "Eat at the hotel?"

She nodded. "Okay."

...

After finishing breakfast and preparing to check out, Xie Qingci noticed an empty packaging box in the trash can while checking her belongings, and her gaze lingered for a moment.

At first, I wasted one because I wasn't skilled at it, but after that, I made the most of every single one.

Her face flushed again.

Liang Jingzhuo walked in from the reception room and asked her if she was ready.

She looked away and replied, "Okay."

Turning around, I met his gaze, and in his hesitant look, I seemed to understand what he was about to say.

She immediately said, "You're not allowed to speak."

If he were to comment again at this point, like before, "I think it's not bad," she would probably immediately buy a plane ticket and fly back to Jingzhao.

Liang Jingzhuo stopped himself from saying what he was about to say, and after a long pause, he continued, "I wanted to ask you where you want to go today?"

Contrary to expectations, Xie Qingci opened her mouth, her cheeks flushed, and asked, "Aren't you going to work today?"

Liang Jingzhuo nodded, "Yes, there's a holiday on National Day."

Hsieh Ching-Tzu said "Oh," and outside the window, Victoria Harbour had returned to its usual bustling state during the day.

She didn't know where she was going either; her previous trips to Hong Kong Island were for exhibitions and training camps.

Liang Jingzhuo noticed her confusion. "Shall I show you around?"

She looked up and replied, "Okay."

His gaze lingered on the blush on her face before he asked, "What did you think I was going to say?"

Xie Qingci was taken aback. After guessing her thoughts wrong and being questioned in return, she became even more embarrassed and walked past him. "It's nothing, don't ask."

Watching the figure pass by, Liang Jingzhuo gave a slight smile but didn't ask any further questions.

-

Leung King-chuk made his travel plans on the spot; aside from work and daily necessities, he had hardly explored Hong Kong Island properly.

In the end, he contacted his cousin, who was still in college, for help. She first laughed at him: "Now you finally realize how boring your life has been for the past twenty-odd years! I'm shocked your wife hasn't looked down on you!"

Despite my complaints, I still sent him a detailed guide.

Finally, he told him that there was an art exhibition at the University of Hong Kong recently and asked if he planned to take Xie Qingci to see it. It would be a good opportunity to go and see her. He had been busy with his research lately and hadn't had time to go back. She also wanted to see her sister-in-law.

He replied: "The art exhibition is fine, but you can skip it."

Amidst a barrage of complaints, he calmly exited the chat program, ignoring the incessant chatter.

Xie Qingci asked him, "What's wrong?"

He put his phone away and replied, "It's nothing."

The travel guide lists must-see attractions in Hong Kong. Luk Lai is off work today, and Leung King-chuk drove himself.

They had lunch near Central, at one of the restaurants recommended in the travel guide. As expected, girls understand girls better; the food was pretty good.

Judging from Xie Qingci's expression, Liang Jingzhuo figured she must like him, since she had shed tears on his shoulder last night, but it wasn't to express any grievances.

Thinking of this, he paused for a moment, then raised his eyes to look at the person sitting opposite him, munching on dessert.

His bright, dark eyes and long, slightly drooping eyelashes caused his Adam's apple to move unconsciously twice before he looked away.

For their last activity in the afternoon, they went to the University of Hong Kong to see an art exhibition. They picked up a brochure of the exhibiting artists at the front desk, and Xie Qingci flipped through it.

My gaze paused for a moment after seeing the person's headshot and resume.

Liang Jingzhuo noticed her lingering gaze, glanced at the photo printed in the upper left corner, and asked, "Do you recognize me?"

She closed the booklet and smiled: "It was one of the teachers before, but I wasn't very familiar with her."

Art is a circle; you'll always run into acquaintances to some extent.

Liang Jingzhuo nodded.

He didn't understand artistic expression techniques, but after visiting the exhibition as a whole, he didn't really like the artist's style.

There's a kind of eerie and decadent beauty to it. Hsieh Ching-Tzu said it's a personal style, and his dislike for it simply reflects a difference in aesthetics.

He looked at her, "But I really like your painting."

Vibrant, pure, and soft, it has a completely different style from the exhibits in front of me.

Xie Qingci knew she couldn't explain it to him, so she just smiled and said, "Thank you."

After viewing the art exhibition, they had dinner nearby. Xie Qingci thought that their trip for the day was over, but Liang Jingzhuo drove the car back to the vicinity of Victoria Harbour.

After parking the car and turning off the engine, Xie Qingci glanced out the window and asked him, "Aren't we going back today?"

Liang Jingzhuo unbuckled his seatbelt and replied, "No."

After saying that, he turned to look at her and said seriously, "Didn't you want to go for a walk yesterday?"

"Let's go for a walk."

Author's note: I'm not sure if there will be an extra chapter tonight. If there is, it will be quite late. If not, I'll make it up tomorrow.

I have a toothache and am not feeling well, so this chapter will be revised.
