"Is this the second floor? It feels similar to the first floor, with these dimly lit passages, but this one seems even darker."
After entering the passage, Rudy and his companions felt a jolt beneath their feet, and before their eyes blurred, they found themselves at the entrance to the second level.
The road ahead was pitch black, giving off a gloomy and dangerous feeling.
The road ahead was completely invisible.
This is where the advantages of light properties become apparent.
"Fluorescent flash!"
Rudy summoned the Holy Lance and fired a shot forward.
Suddenly, a white ball of light the size of a basketball floated in front, illuminating the passage.
"Well done, Rudy brothers! Light magic has this kind of magic? This is truly an eye-opener for me."
Kane couldn't help but give a thumbs up in praise.
Kane can emit orbs of light himself.
However, he couldn't do what Rudy did—keep the beam of light shining continuously and maintain its brightness.
Clearly, this is magic that Rudy created himself.
"It's alright. After all, magic is about using the corresponding elements to create the desired effect. In theory, as long as humans can think of something and have enough magic power, then anything can be done with magic."
Of course, this is in theory.
Theory is not the only correct one, therefore magic is not omnipotent.
“Brother Rudy, this is clearly something only you can do. Your magical talent is truly enviable.”
Kane made a sarcastic remark, but quickly put on a happy smile again.
According to that mysterious message, Rudy has now signed a contract with him, so Kane can learn the magic that Rudy knows in the future!
Rudy's magical talent is Kane's magical talent!
Rudy's lips twitched as he looked at Kane's smirking face.
"Stop grinning like an idiot, Kane, let's start conquering the second floor."
"I wasn't grinning like an idiot. How could you call me silly with my handsome smile?"
Kane replied with dissatisfaction, his expression turning serious.
"Without further ado, let's begin the strategy!"
Michelle was still in the front row.
However, this time Rudy will be at the back, since his Holy Lance is easier to support from behind.
Mina stood beside Rudy, responsible for keeping an eye on him and protecting him.
Rudy maintained the effect of the "Fluorescent Blink" magic lamp, letting the ball of light explore the path ahead.
"Creak!"
"Crunch, crunch, crunch!"
Suddenly, a strange sound came from inside, and everyone became alert.
As the orb of light shone upon them, something emitting strange noises appeared before their eyes.
A group of humanoid creatures made of tree branches were seen moving mechanically, their scarlet eyes proving their monster status.
"What? It's a low-level monster, a Tree Sapling."
Michelle pouted, somewhat annoyed by the noise made by the saplings, and then swung her greatsword and swept it across.
With the aid of wind attributes, low-level monsters were cut in half by her sharp blade.
The second level is almost entirely filled with these kinds of monsters.
Before long, the group cleared the saplings from the passage and arrived at the boss room.
It's similar to the first floor.
In the very center of the room stood a sapling-like figure, 4 meters tall, made of tree branches.
Rudy had seen the monster atlas from the continent when he was at his mansion, so he recognized it immediately.
"This is a mid-level monster, a Treeheart Monster."
"Watch out, Michelle, and Mina too."
"The weak point of this tree heart monster is below its scarlet eyes, where its heart is located. However, if the heart is not pierced in time, the monster's body will quickly regenerate."
"The weakness of the Treeheart Monster is fire magic."
"Understood!"
Michelle nodded seriously, swung her greatsword, and charged out first.
Although she doesn't know fire magic, her wind-attribute greatsword can still pierce through a monster's heart!
A mere mid-level monster is naturally no match for Michelle.
With the help of Rudy and Mina, Michelle easily secured the first kill on the boss.
After the monster fell, another treasure chest appeared before everyone.
Kane's breathing became rapid.
"Another treasure chest!"
"What a lucky day! Two treasure chests!"
"Didn't Professor Troyes say that treasure chests are hard to find? Looks like we're really lucky."
Michelle was also excited, but when she thought about the underwear she got from the treasure chest, she couldn't help but pout.
"I hope this treasure chest doesn't contain any weird stuff like underwear or socks again?"
"Probably not. Okay, don't hesitate, it's time to open the box, let me do it!"
Kane walked over with great interest.
Mina glanced at Rudy instinctively, her expression momentarily stunned.
Why wasn't Rudy surprised or delighted at all when he saw the treasure chest?
Did he already know that a treasure chest would appear?
But how is that possible?
Mina banished the thought from her mind and followed her sister, arriving together in front of the treasure chest.
"Heave-ho, treasure chest, open it!"
Kane excitedly lifted the lid of the treasure chest.
Suddenly, the same purple light shot into the sky as before, but this time, having learned from experience, no one was frightened.
Rudy, however, thought the treasure chest was really flashy and overly complicated.
They put on so many special effects just to open the box, but the items inside are probably not that great.
Rudy had no expectations whatsoever.
After all, this is just a treasure chest in normal mode.
A few seconds later, the light faded.
The items inside the treasure chest were revealed to everyone.
