Chapter 105 Chapter 105 Azu, Stop It
No matter what, life goes on.
After solving another case, the shrunken Kudo Shinichi, now known as Edogawa Conan, finally couldn't help but ask Takagi Wataru, "What happened, Officer Takagi?"
In fact, throughout the entire case, Takagi Shigeru always looked absent-minded. Occasionally, he would look at Conan hesitantly, as if he wanted to say something to him.
So after the case was over, seeing that Takagi Shigeru was still like this, Conan finally couldn't help but ask.
God knows how sensitive Conan is to gazes after being shrunk by a drug from the organization. Even if the source of the gaze is the not-so-bright Officer Takagi, it still makes him feel uneasy. Besides, even if he hadn't shrunk, Kudo Shinichi didn't like being stared at by men all the time.
Then, Conan saw that Officer Takagi seemed to be startled by his sudden voice, waving his hands and taking a step back, his voice stuttering:
"No, that, actually, it's not a very important thing... It's about the person who committed suicide before, Kusuda Rikumichi—"
Before he could finish his stuttering words, Takagi Shigeru saw that Conan's expression had changed again. He looked anxious and a little panicked. He almost couldn't wait to ask him, "What happened to Kusuda Rikumichi?!"
Takagi Shigeru also didn't understand why Conan, who always looked confident and sure of victory, was so nervous about the name Kusuda Rikumichi.
Takagi Wataru scratched the back of his head, hesitated for a moment, then bent down, leaned close to Conan's ear, covered his mouth with one hand, looked around, and said in a low voice:
"Actually, I find it strange, too. A few days ago, someone suddenly came to the Metropolitan Police Department and took away all the materials related to the Kusuda Rikumichi case. Oh, right! Including the phone with his fingerprints on it."
Conan's pupils shrank when he heard this:
"Who is it?" Could it be the organization's undercover agent in the Metropolitan Police Department? Are they beginning to suspect Mr. Akai's death?
Takagi Shigeru didn't notice Conan's abnormality at all, and continued to speak mysteriously and gossipy to him:
"It seems to be the police from the National Police Agency!"
As he said this, he also complained softly,
"Those guys are always so bossy anyway."
Conan didn't want to listen to Officer Takagi's complaints. He just wanted to know immediately: "Why did the police do this?"
In response, Takagi Wataru just looked dumbfounded: "I don't know much either."
Conan, standing by, covered his chin with one hand, frowned slightly, and looked like he was deep in thought. Takagi Wataru didn't notice Conan's abnormality. He had already stood up straight, also covered his chin with one hand, and said in distress:
"How is it? Isn't it very strange? I think there must be something hidden here, but unfortunately, Inspector Megure told us not to interfere anymore."
At this moment, Megure Jusan and his team had already completed the preservation of the evidence at the crime scene and escorted the criminal to the police car. Seeing that Takagi Wataru was still talking to Conan, he couldn't help but raise his voice and call him:
"We're leaving, Takagi-kun!"
"Okay! I'll be right there!"
Takagi Wataru responded, then lowered his voice and hurriedly told Conan,
"Remember to keep it a secret! After all, they're from the National Police Agency. They have bad tempers and are not people we can afford to offend!"
Then, he left with Inspector Megure, leaving Conan standing there alone, frowning and thinking about what Takagi Wataru had just said.
The Kusuda Rikudichi case involves so many things. If they find out that Akai Shuichi is not dead, Mizunashi Rena, who is still lurking in the organization, will be exposed immediately!
If something happened to Rena Mizunashi, they would completely lose their access to the latest news within the organization.
But what does this have to do with the police? Even the police from the National Police Agency...
Why did they suddenly notice this case? Was it because of Shuichi Akai, or was it because of the Black Organization? Did the public security also know about the organization's existence and were they tracking it down?
The involvement of a new force left Kudo Shinichi clueless for a while.
*
On the same day that Takagi Shigeru mentioned the Kusuda Rikudō case to Conan, a new transfer student arrived in Class 2-B of Teitan High School.
When the bell rang for the first class in the morning, the high school students had to stop laughing and go back to their seats.
The head teacher of Class 2B was a middle-aged man with black-framed glasses, slightly curly hair, and a bit of fat. He walked into the classroom with a stack of handouts, followed by a girl who was about the same height as him.
Crimson hair, emerald eyes, snow-white skin, tall figure. This visually impactful appearance always seems to attract people's attention at the first sight.
At that moment, the homeroom teacher was certain he heard many gasps and exclamations from the students in the classroom. The students completely ignored him, their teacher, and almost all of them looked at the new student, either directly or indirectly.
Indeed. The homeroom teacher wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, thinking to himself, "This new student's appearance is truly too much. Even he was mesmerized for several seconds when he first met him." He'd seen celebrities offline before, but to be honest, those stars couldn't match the visual impact of this new student.
Clearing his throat, the homeroom teacher tried to divert the students' attention to himself.
But it was obviously a failure. He even saw a few naughty classmates whispering and gossiping in front of him, and the protagonist of the conversation was undoubtedly the new classmate standing next to him.
Then, even a naughty student with a less intelligent mind was instigated to raise his hand and ask loudly: "Teacher, is this the new transfer student?"
Good, at least this student used honorifics and behaved politely. You know, these problem students aren't usually like this—they smoke, drink, fight, and do whatever they want.
The homeroom teacher said helplessly: "Let me introduce you. This is Olga Naraku, who will be joining us from today. She's a transfer student from the United States and isn't very familiar with Japan yet. Everyone, please take good care of her!"
Immediately, the homeroom teacher and the other students turned their attention to the new students. Next, it was time for them to introduce themselves.
The new classmate didn't seem as aloof as people's first impression of her. Instead, she smiled gently and then said in standard Japanese, which was unusual for a foreigner:
"My name is Olga Nale. We'll be classmates from now on. Please give me your guidance."
Her Japanese was standard, but there was no Japanese bowing. But surprisingly, no one in the room thought she was doing something wrong – it’s normal for foreigners not to understand Japanese etiquette!
All I can say is that this world is a giant face-blocking game. The students completely forgot how many times they had secretly complained about unattractive foreigners being "impolite."
The new transfer student was Olga. She glanced at the class with a smile, her gaze lingering for a moment as she passed by Hondou Eisuke and Maori Ran.
These were Olga's two goals for this trip.
In fact, when she mentioned to Rei Furuya a few days ago that she was going to "enjoy high school life", Rei Furuya almost immediately guessed which school and class she was going to.
There was no dissuasion or worry as expected. At that time, Furuya Ling just touched Olga's head and said: "Have fun."
Olga looked at Rei Furuya strangely. He stood in front of the door, his head bent, tying his tie. Shouldn't he have said something more? Perhaps something like, "Don't go on a killing spree against your classmates again."
But no. Furuya Rei didn't say anything else. Just before leaving, as if suddenly remembering something, he said to Olga apologetically, "I might be very busy for a while. Remember to take care of yourself, Olya."
ah……
As the door closed, Olga could no longer see Rei Furuya. He had gone out to carry out a mission, either for the public security or for the organization.
But isn't he always busy? What's there to be sorry about? Olga couldn't figure it out. He just felt that Furuya Rei had been acting strangely lately.
Forget it, if I can't figure it out, I won't think about it anymore. Olga turned back to her room and started changing into her Digdan High School uniform. It's pretty good now, isn't it? As long as Lingling is always here, nothing else matters.
*
Just like that, after hearing Takagi Wataru mention the Kusuda Rikudo case again during the daytime investigation, Conan went through another day of elementary school life. After school, he returned to the Mori Detective Agency and heard Maori Ran say:
"There's a new transfer student in our class today. She's a very pretty girl. Like Eisuke before, she seems to be from America."
Conan scooped a spoonful of curry into his mouth with a children's spoon, and complained in his heart that there were really a lot of transfer students from America coming to Teitan High School recently.
Well, she was a girl anyway, so there was no way she would pursue Ran like Hondou Eisuke. Conan didn't take it to heart.
But soon, amidst the cacophony of horse racing announcements on TV and Kogoro's shouting, Conan heard Mao Lilan continue with some longing: "The new classmate is a rare red-haired, green-eyed girl. Just like the dolls I saw in the window when I was a child."
Red hair, green eyes.
Conan's hand scooping curry paused.
This configuration was indeed rare, so rare that a specific image almost immediately appeared in his mind. It was the only person with red hair and green eyes he had ever seen.
Then, Mao Lilan's words confirmed Conan's guess: "Ah! I remember! Olga is Shinichi's friend! They seem to have known each other since they were very young, and they have a really good relationship."
Mao Lilan supported her head with one hand and looked at Conan. She was smiling, but there was a hint of loneliness in her eyes: "When Shinichi was with her before, they always had endless topics to talk about... In fact, I didn't quite understand what they were saying."
Conan was speechless and turned into a midnight eye. He scooped another spoonful of curry with a child's spoon and put it into his mouth. Then, in the midst of Mao Lilan's nagging words, he suddenly realized that something was wrong.
"Xiaolan--!" He stood up suddenly in a panic, and Kogoro, who had been concentrating on the horse racing report, couldn't help but look over.
"You little brat, what are you doing so loud all of a sudden?"
Amidst Maori Kogoro's complaints and Maori Ran's confused look, Conan had no choice but to laugh it off and said to Maori Ran in a childish tone:
"Sister Xiaolan, I mean, Shinichi-san mentioned before that he had a friend with red hair and green eyes! But Shinichi-san said that friend's name was Arthas."
"That's right, Olga said Arthas is her middle name." Xiaolan explained to Conan, and then complained, "Ah! Shinichi is really rude! Why does he keep calling people by their middle names?"
Conan: "..." Yes, yes, I am the most rude...but,
The moment he lowered his head to eat curry, Conan's eyes changed behind the reflective lenses.
Xiaolan was still chattering about "Olga", saying that Olga recommended her a lot of check-in spots in London, and she must go and see them when she went to London this weekend. But Conan didn't listen to what she said at all.
When he was a child, Kudo Shinichi only thought that "Alsace" was a place name.
As he grew up, he realized that "Alsace" could also be the name of a wine. Especially when he met the person next to Alsace in New York, whom she called "Glen", Kudo Shinichi became more certain that "Alsace" was the name of the wine. At that time, Kudo Shinichi thought that using the name of a wine was both strange and childish. But now,
Use the name of the wine as a code name.
Kudo Shinichi realized what this meant almost immediately.
Alsace. Grant's.
If one person chooses such a name, it can be said to be a coincidence, but if two acquaintances call each other after the name of a wine...
And Arthas is very familiar with Vermouth!
At that moment, Conan remembered everything! Yes, his mother's friend Sharon Wynyard was Vermouth. And Arthas...
Arthas, is from that organization!
In an instant, the curry in his hand no longer smelled fragrant. Amidst Xiaolan's exclamation, Conan stood up, hurriedly put on his coat and ran downstairs.
"Sister Xiaolan, I suddenly remembered that the doctor asked me to go to his place after school. I'm going there now and won't be back tonight. Don't wait for me!"
"Conan, wait—!"
Xiaolan watched Conan leave in a hurry, looked at the half-eaten curry rice in the children's bowls on the table, and looked at Maori Kogoro who was staring at the TV with a beer in his hand, not paying attention to what was happening outside the window. She couldn't help but complain with her hands on her hips.
"Really?! They're all like this!"
*
Conan ran to Dr. Agasa's house. He had to confirm Arthas's identity immediately!
If that person is a member of the Black Organization... Conan couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine just thinking about this possibility. Why did she transfer to Teitan Junior High School? What was her purpose?
Although from the bottom of his heart, Conan does not think that Arthas is a person as evil and wicked as Vermouth and Gin.
Arthas was about the same age as him, and during their time together, Conan felt that apart from her bad personality, she was not a member of a criminal organization at all. Although as a detective, it was not rigorous to make such a judgment based on intuition rather than evidence, but what if?
What if she was in the same situation as Haibara? What if she was also coerced by the organization and had no choice?
It's always difficult for people to doubt people and things they are familiar with. As for Olga, as someone Kudo Shinichi has known since childhood, it is difficult for Kudo Shinichi to have any bad doubts about her.
But... Conan certainly knew there was a possibility that Olga wasn't inherently bad. But why did Arthas transfer to Teitan High School? Did she discover something?
Conan now cannot tolerate even the slightest potential danger. Therefore, he must confirm it now!
When I hurriedly pushed open the door of the doctor's house, Huiyuan, that is, the shrunken Shirley, was sitting on the sofa drinking coffee, with a fashion magazine spread on her lap. The doctor didn't seem to be at home.
Seeing Conan panting with his knees supported, Huiyuan raised an eyebrow in surprise, then put the coffee on the table, stood up calmly, and walked towards the kitchen:
"Ah, Detective, what can I do for you at this late hour?"
Before Conan could catch his breath, he followed Haibara Ai into the kitchen and said straight to the point: "Have you heard of 'Alsace'?"
Huibara's hand paused for a moment as she opened the refrigerator. Then, she stood on tiptoe as if nothing had happened, took out a head of lettuce from the top shelf of the refrigerator, pulled out a few leaves, and washed them under the faucet.
Amid the gurgling water, Conan heard Huibara's usually calm voice:
"Why are you suddenly mentioning Arthas?"
This is what Arthas meant. As expected, Arthas is also a member of the organization!
Perhaps influenced by Haibara, Conan finally calmed down. He explained, "Arthas transferred to my old high school class."
Huiyuan seemed to be planning to make a sandwich. She took out two slices of bread from the refrigerator, tore off the edges, and threw them into the trash can. Hearing Conan's nervous tone, she couldn't help but look back at Conan teasingly:
"Ah, Arthas graduated from university several years ago."
Conan: “…” Then why are you still going to high school?
"Isn't the organization keen on kidnapping genius children?" In just a few words, Conan's nerves completely relaxed, and he even felt like making a joke in a sarcastic tone.
But what he said was indeed correct. Both Shirley and Alsace were young and highly educated.
In fact, according to Conan's IQ, he can obviously do this. But after all, he was born in a loving and free family. Instead of pursuing academic qualifications, Yukiko hopes that he can enjoy his student life and not grow up too quickly or force himself.
But Huibara shrugged: "Like me, Arthas also grew up in the organization."
Conan had guessed this a long time ago. He put his hands behind his head and said to Huibara: "I have known her since I was very young."
"Oh?" Huibara seemed interested. She put the last slice of bread on top, and a simple sandwich was ready. After cutting it diagonally with a knife, she handed the sandwich to Conan.
"Thank you."
Conan didn't eat much dinner and was really hungry now. He ate his sandwich while following Huiyuan to the living room. Seeing that Huiyuan seemed interested in Arthas, he said while eating,
"She acted in a movie adapted from my dad's novel before. She seems to be very familiar with Vermouth."
"Yeah." Huibara sat back on the sofa, spread out the fashion magazine on her legs again, picked up the coffee and took a sip.
Although her eyes were looking towards the magazine, Conan knew that she was listening very carefully.
You are still as dishonest as ever.
But Conan still told everything he knew about Arthas. Finally, he realized that something was wrong:
"By the way, why are you so—"
Before I could finish asking, my cell phone rang suddenly.
"Sorry." Conan lowered his head and opened his phone, opening the latest text message. Then, his pupils suddenly shrank.
The text message was sent by Shuichi Akai and forwarded by Kiel. The content was: The organization's experts in intelligence gathering, observation, and insight have been dispatched, and their target is Shirley, codenamed Bourbon.
"Bourbon..."
Conan kept reciting the code name.
But Shirley suddenly said, "Alsace and Bourbon have a good relationship."
"Huh?"
"What happened? Did Bourbon take action?"
"No, nothing—"
Haibara Ai stood up, and a fashion magazine that had been rolled up into a tube hit Conan's head lightly, causing Conan to scream and hold his head.
"Don't try to hide it from me." Huiyuan said, "Are you targeting me again?"
All I can say is that she knows Conan too well.
Conan raised his hands and said nothing, which was considered as his agreement.
Huiyuan sat back on the sofa thoughtfully, and then heard Conan's voice behind him: "How much do you know about Bourbon?"
Huibara looked up at him and raised her thumb and index finger. "Unfortunately, I don't know much about this guy. I haven't even met him. I only know two pieces of information."
Conan pretended to listen attentively.
Huiyuan sighed and retracted his index finger: "First, he is a scumbag who will do anything to achieve his goal."
Conan: “…”
"Secondly, the close relationship between him and Arthas is well known to everyone in the organization." Huibara retracted her thumb, then lowered her head and continued to flip through the fashion magazine.
Conan was a little confused: "If he is a scum, then why did Arthas-?"
Conan didn't know if it was his illusion, but he always felt that Haibara disliked Bourbon very much. This dislike was different from her aversion to gin.
Didn’t you say you haven’t seen it?
Huiyuan suddenly yawned and said nonchalantly, "Who knows? Maybe he's particularly good at deceiving women."
Conan: "..." For some reason, the image of Bourbon in his mind suddenly changed from mysterious and terrifying to a down-to-earth one.
"But I want to remind you,"
Huiyuan's tone suddenly became serious, causing Conan to look at her. Her expression was rare and serious.
"No matter what, Bourbon is as dangerous as Gin. No, he's even more dangerous than Gin. If it really comes to the point where you have no other choice, just leave me alone—"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Conan interrupted Huiyuan and smiled broadly, "Don't worry, I will never let you get caught by those guys!"
Huiyuan was stunned for a moment, then turned her head away: "I'm not a flower in a greenhouse. I don't need your protection."
"Yes, yes." Conan, accustomed to her awkwardness, changed the subject. "So, the main concern is Bourbon. Arthas isn't a threat, right?"
This time, Huiyuan was silent for several seconds before she said softly, "Arthas... is a willful bad boy."
"I've known this for a long time." Conan complained with his crescent eyes.
"No, I mean—" Huiyuan shook her head, "Forget it."
She looked Conan in the eye and warned him earnestly, "In short, Arthas is a member of the organization. No matter what, you still can't let your guard down and trust her too much."
*
On the other side, after Kiel sent the information about Bourbon's deployment to the FBI, she received a message on her mobile phone from Alsace.
In the dark safe house, the mobile phone screen flickered with bright white light.
After seeing the content of the text message, Kil's pupils suddenly shrank, and the hand holding the phone could not help but tremble slightly.
Hondou Eikai hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she followed the instructions in the text message and arrived alone at the location designated by Alsace.
It was a basement, closed and dimly lit.
The moment she opened the door, Hondou Eikai saw her brother, whom she hadn't seen for many years. Even though he had grown from a child to a young man, she recognized him at first sight.
Her brother, with a bruised face and bloodstained clothes, was bundled up and thrown into a corner of the basement like garbage. His mouth was taped, making it impossible for him to speak. Even when he saw the sister he had been looking for, he could only make a whimpering sound in his throat and shake his head at her.
At that moment, Hondou Eikai became angry.
She turned her gaze to Olga, who was standing under the ventilator. The faint light that leaked in through the ventilator fell on the face and body of this demon, stretching the shadows out.
She looked at the devil's smile and her trembling hands slowly clenched into fists.
At this moment, all the undercover and forbearance, go to hell! The only thing left in her mind was the miserable appearance of her brother on the verge of death - he had obviously suffered a lot of unnecessary abuse.
Hondou Eikai punched the demon's alluring face. Not bringing a few of his men along would be the demon's biggest regret today.
But her blow, filled with anger, did not land effectively.
The demon dodged easily, then punched her right cheek with a backhand punch. The force was so great that her right cheek swelled up almost instantly.
Hondou Eikai could almost taste the blood in his mouth.
Then, four men in black rushed into the basement. They were all low-level members of the organization, dressed in black clothes and black pants. One of them stood in front of Olga, one pointed a gun at Hondou Eisuke's head, and the other two stood in front of Hondou Eisuke, pointing their guns at her head and heart respectively.
Hondou Eikai finally calmed down. She slowly raised her hands, her brain starting to function again thanks to the training she had received at the CIA.
Arthas didn't kill Eiyou outright, but instead summoned her. Clearly, this wasn't a simple move, and it couldn't have been simply to provoke her. It wasn't that Hondou Eikai trusted Olga's character, but rather that she knew the demon wasn't interested in her. Similarly, he wasn't interested in causing her pain.
She prefers to torture those she is interested in.
After clarifying his thoughts, Hondou Eikai spoke first: "You called me here not just to catch me, the undercover agent, and kill me, right, Arthas?"
Kiel revealed his undercover identity. The moment Olga captured Hondou Eisuke, this identity had already been revealed to her, so there was no need to hide it anymore.
She saw Olga shake her left hand. The lower-level member guarding her stepped forward and confiscated both guns from Hondou Eikai.
Then, the red-haired devil raised his head and spoke slowly: "Since you've come straight to the point, there's no need for me to waste my time."
She snapped her fingers. The man in black who had been holding a gun to Hondou Eisuke's head immediately grabbed him by the collar and dragged him from the corner like a sack.
Now, Hondou Eikai saw his brother more clearly than ever. His glasses were broken, and his body was covered in wounds of all sizes: cuts, burns, bruises...
She was almost unable to control her anger again. After taking a few deep breaths, she finally controlled her muscles and turned her gaze to Olga.
The green-eyed demon tilted her head and smiled innocently. She asked her in a very casual, ordinary tone, as if she was talking about today's weather. She asked:
"Would you be interested in being a double agent? Like in the movies, the cool kind."
Hondou Eikai clenched her fists so tightly that her nails nearly pierced her palms. Her cognition and morals were constantly rejecting it, but—
She kept looking at her miserable brother lying on the ground.
But does she have a choice?
Sure enough, she heard the demon clasp his hands together, and his soft voice seemed to be telling some beautiful fairy tale:
"I know the FBI plans to take your brother away and put him in the witness protection program. Didn't you discuss this with Akai Shuichi and the others when you were in the hospital?"
"But—"
The demon seemed to be completely unafraid of her sudden attack, or perhaps he was certain that she wouldn't dare, so he actually pushed aside the man in black between them and walked leisurely in front of her.
"Now that I've kidnapped him, there's no way he can go into the witness protection program."
The demon circled around her, slowly making a half-circle. Hondou Eikai's gaze was fixed on her.
"Now, you have two choices." The devil raised the thumb and index finger of his left hand.
"One, agree to be my double agent."
She chuckled, as if she remembered something funny.
"As for Gin, he still doesn't know your undercover identity. As long as you agree to my conditions, I won't tell anyone in the organization, and you can continue to be your undercover agent with peace of mind."
"As for your brother, I'll send him to an unknown place for 'protection' and let him live under a completely new name. Ah! Just like the FBI's witness protection program! If you want the FBI to personally carry out the case, that's no problem either!"
At this moment, Hondou Eikai is already certain that there are organized undercover agents in the FBI, and their level is not low, and they can even intervene in the witness protection program!
"What about the second option?" she asked coldly.
Olga put her hands behind her back, turned around and walked back to the protection of the black-clad men with guns. She was still smiling, and in such a sweet voice, she said such cruel words:
"Two, die now with your dear brother."
After saying this, she turned around and winked at Hondou Eikai:
"However, I don't recommend you choose the second option."
Hondou Eikai curled his lips sarcastically:
"Why should I trust you to get Eiyou to safety?"
The smiling expression on Olga's face disappeared, and Hondou Eikai only remembered those green eyes like a cold-blooded animal. When he was stared at, he would feel a chill on his back.
The next second, she heard a muffled groan.
The demon kicked her brother in the ribs without mercy, and she could even clearly see the dented marks on his ribs.
"Do you have a choice?" asked the devil.
Yeah, does she have any choice?
Before the demon could continue to torture her already scarred brother, Hondou Eikai had to call a halt:
"Okay! I promise! Stop it!!!"
Olga didn't press any harder on Hondou Eisuke's face. She tilted her head, smiled at Hondou Eisuke, and said, "If you had agreed earlier, my brother wouldn't have had to suffer so much. You're really indecisive, Ms. CIA."
Then she waved her hand, and two men in black took Hondou Eisuke away.
Under Hondou Eikai's reluctant and worried gaze, the demon said in a bewitching tone:
"Don't worry, as long as you listen, he will be safe."
In other words, as long as Olga is dissatisfied with her, Hondou Eisuke will immediately disappear from this world.
Hondou Eikai lowered her head, her eyes hidden in the thick shadows. Beside her, she clenched her fists, her hands trembling. In the end, she only replied:
"I see."
Olga left with her other three men. She said nothing more, nor did she ask Kiel to do anything immediately, as if she had completely forgotten that she had just coerced and bribed her to become a double agent.
Kiel turned around and could no longer see Olga. She never understood what this person was thinking, never.
On the other side, Olga came to a nearby garage and after confirming that there was no potential danger around, she let her three men leave on their own, got in the car, and sped away into the night.
Then, late at night in Tokyo and during the day in London, she received a call from Vermouth:
"I just took out Akai Mari."
She said so proudly.
Akai Mary, Akai Shuichi's mother.
"Oh? How did you solve it?"
Olga connected her phone to the car's Bluetooth, and instantly, Vermouth's voice rang out, creating a stereo effect for no reason in the empty space of the car.
"Use that medicine. I've made sure she took it."
That kind of medicine. Olga knew that Vermouth was referring to APTX-4869 developed by Shirley.
"How do I confirm this?"
Olga took the steering wheel and carelessly turned off the car's Bluetooth. She couldn't stand the sound of stupidity ringing so clearly in her ears.
"I fed it mouth to mouth myself."
Vermouth said this, seemingly oblivious to the fact that there was nothing wrong with her words. In return, there was a long silence on the other end of the line. Then, a dead tone.
Olga hung up the phone and threw it casually on the passenger seat.
It is known that Shirley did not die after taking APTX-4869, but became smaller. So, what about Akai Mari, who shares some of the same genes as Shirley?
So stupid.
Olga looked at the red light in front of her, did not brake, and accelerated through the intersection.
Sometimes she really wondered if Vermouth was also an undercover agent of some force.
