Chapter 83 Chapter 83 What makes Ve...

Judy wanted to say something else, but Akai Shuichi turned and walked towards the emergency exit hidden in the darkness. James Blake was waiting for them outside.

"At least we confirmed a guess."

Judy was stunned for a moment, then quickly followed Akai Shuichi.

Yes, they confirmed their initial suspicions—Sharon Wynyard wasn't dead. In other words, from the very beginning, whether it was Sharon Wynyard, Chris Wynyard, or Vermouth, they were all the same person!

This funeral was just a fake one that Vermouth staged in order to get rid of the identity of "Sharon Wynyard".

"But why doesn't she age?"

Despite receiving favorable intelligence, Judy's frown only grew tighter. Vermouth was like an onion. When they peeled back one layer of her outer shell and thought they were nearing victory, they discovered countless layers of mysteries beneath the initial veneer.

Or maybe that organization is just like that, forever hidden in the shadow of endless fog.

"Yeah, why?"

In the pitch-black fire escape, Akai Shuichi's deep voice was a little muffled. Judy, following behind him, couldn't see his expression, but—

Judy was stunned for a moment.

She was familiar with Shuichi Akai's tone.

He'd guessed it, Judy realized.

But why didn't he say it...

Who is he guarding against?

Olga and Vermouth had a quarrel.

This is strange.

Although their relationship had always been tense, they had never truly argued before. Arguing was pointless, in the eyes of both Olga and Vermouth.

In fact, at the beginning Olga just wanted to "call the shots" for Vermouth's unreliable behavior at the memorial service. God knows how the topic turned to the Kudo family and Mouri Ran.

"How about I help you kill them all~" Although the conversation between the two was still as noisy as before, it was still quite harmonious.

Olga leaned against the bar, her eyes lowered as she fiddled with a crystal glass on the counter. Her peripheral vision, however, was always subtly watching Vermouth. She clearly saw the change in Vermouth's demeanor after she said this.

Perhaps other people couldn't notice the change, after all, Vermouth just kept sitting on the high stool in front of the bar with that annoying expression on her face.

But Olga could see the change - Vermouth was feeling unhappy.

Is it because of the Kudo family? Or is it because of Ran Mouri? Or maybe both?

Then, Vermouth spoke. Her voice was relatively calm, and she even managed to speak matter-of-factly.

"Don't take the initiative to provoke the Kudo family, Arthas. Their background and network of relationships are very complicated. It will be troublesome if you mess with them."

"oh?"

Olga's lips curled up in an ambiguous smile. Vermouth saw her pick up the crystal glass, turning it over between her fingers. Even though her right hand wasn't her dominant one, it was still more flexible than most people's.

In the dim room, she sat on the bar with her back to the light, and only a vague outline could be seen.

The air fell silent. Looking at Olga, Vermouth suddenly felt a sense of absurd fear.

After realizing her own thoughts, Vermouth didn't even have time to laugh at herself before she heard Olga say in her clear voice, "Then I'll just go after Mao Lilan. Don't worry, I've done some research, and her family background is simple. Even if she disappears immediately, there won't be any problems."

Her relaxed tone was as if she was talking about today's weather.

Vermouth was stunned for a rare moment until Olga placed the crystal glass on the bar and it made a crisp "ding" sound.

She put her five fingers into her hair and pushed it back, then stood on the ground, looking as if she was about to leave.

"Ah, of course. I'll remember to get rid of her parents and relatives as well. Cut the grass at its roots to prevent future troubles~"

She even added this thoughtfully, which was clearly a satire on the fact that Vermouth had once spared Judy Stelling when she was a child.

But Vermouth was obviously not comforted by Olga's "consideration".

"Wait a moment!"

Before Olga's fingertips touched the door handle, Vermouth's voice came from behind her, a little hurried, with some emotions that she tried hard to conceal.

Olga didn't turn around, but put her hand on the door handle back into her pocket.

"Alsace, don't attack them, whether it's the Kudo family or Mao Lilan."

The air fell silent again. Olga put her hands in the pockets of her sweatpants, her back turned to Vermouth, and said neither good nor bad.

A few seconds later, just as Vermouth frowned and was about to say something else, she heard a happy chuckle coming from the dark hallway.

So her brows frowned even more tightly.

"Oh, an imperative sentence?"

Olga finally turned around with a very bright smile on her face, but it made Vermouth's heart skip a beat and she thought something was wrong.

"You're ordering me?" She walked toward her leisurely, her hands still in her pockets. "For whom?"

Olga came up to her and glanced down at her. She was clearly smiling, but her eyes were silent. It was as if she were looking at a bug, or something else entirely. That all-seeing look was unsettling.

Vermouth met her gaze, and the fingertips holding the goblet twitched unconsciously.

She has grown up. Vermouth has never been more aware of this fact than at this moment. Because of the disgusting sense of danger that emanated from her, and because of the oppressive feeling that came from her just now, which was impossible to ignore.

Vermouth placed the goblet on the bar, ignoring the strangeness in her heart, and said in the calmest tone: "Arthas, the sharkmen are just a means for the organization, not the ultimate goal. They do not hinder the organization-"

"Sometimes I'm curious—" Vermouth was interrupted by Olga before she could finish her words.

She suddenly bent down and approached Vermouth, her nose almost touching hers, and met her gaze with malicious eyes. After admiring Vermouth's frown with satisfaction, she continued,

"--Are you more concerned about your long-time friend, Kudo Yukiko, and therefore also concerned about Kudo Shinichi and Mori Ran, or are you more concerned about the cool guy and angel who saved your life? Or are they all important to you?"

Vermouth's furrowed brows didn't relax, and her chest rose and fell faster. She didn't say anything, but Olga knew it was a sign of her excitement, or in other words, anger.

Olga's lips curled up even more. She stood up straight, took a step back, and took the initiative to increase the distance between them.

"How about this, I'll go get rid of Kudo Yusaku, so you can pursue Kudo Yukiko and marry her, and then you can let Kudo Shinichi and Mao Lilan get married immediately. In this way, these three people will be your wife, son, and daughter-in-law."

Olga suggested this, and even later on, she became visibly excited.

"Ah! New York just happens to allow same-sex marriage. Or maybe you want to get married in LA, where Kudo Yukiko is more familiar? That's also good. The only problem is that you need to pursue Kudo Yukiko, but I think that shouldn't be difficult for you-"

“Alsace!!!”

Vermouth seemed to have finally lost her patience and interrupted Olga's nonsense.

"Why, you don't like the direction of this story?" Olga tilted her head slightly and glanced at Vermouth.

Vermouth stood up from the high chair, frowning deeply and speaking sternly: "Enough! Stop being unreasonable."

"Ha! You're being unreasonable."

This was probably the beginning of the escalation of this tense conversation into an argument.

"I hope your smart head can stay clear and not let some inexplicable people affect your judgment!"

Vermouth cares too much about Kudo Shinichi and Mao Lilan, even with a gesture of longing for redemption. Although she tries her best to hide it, Olga sees everything.

At first Olga thought she was just acting on a whim, but who knew she was serious.

This is absolutely ridiculous!

Olga had a very bad feeling.

Then she heard Vermouth chuckle, a hint of sarcasm. It was soft, but in the silent room it was remarkably clear.

"You should worry about yourself more than me, Arthas."

Vermouth tucked her long hair behind her ears, crossed her legs, and sat back on the high chair. If you ignored her heaving chest, she looked incredibly calm.

She didn't raise her voice, but she had the ability to easily irritate Olga. Vermouth poured red wine into the only remaining goblet, took a sip, and then said slowly with a tone of sarcasm:

"I think Bourbon has had a huge impact on you. Arthas, can you still keep your head clear in his presence?"

Olga froze. For a moment, cold sweat even seeped out of her palms.

She took a deep breath, controlled her rapid heartbeat, raised her eyes and stared at Vermouth, not missing any of her subtle movements.

What did she discover?

No, she found nothing, Olga quickly concluded.

So she breathed a sigh of relief, and the slight tremor in her cold hands finally stopped, and was replaced by movement of her facial muscles.

She slowly forced out a strange smile. "Zero is naturally different from those two guys. He is the organization's Bourbon. As long as I am still alive, what can Bourbon make me do that is detrimental to the organization?"

Rei Furuya is an undercover agent, but no one in the organization knows about it except Olga, and Olga has no intention of letting anyone know about it.

The biggest difference between her and Vermouth is that she does not desire redemption, just as the devil will never desire an angel to smile at it.

Furuya Rei can only be Bourbon, as long as she is alive, or, while she is still alive.

She won't let go.

"Really? I hope so." Vermouth glanced at Olga coldly, then raised her head and drank the red wine in the glass.

"Please also pray that your beloved ones won't let you do anything out of line, Vermouth."
