In a beautifully appointed private room at the Pengshan Chamber of Commerce.
This private room is not very big, and there aren't many decorations, but it is indeed simple and elegant.
In the middle is a coffee table and a tea set.
In the corner are a celadon vase, a winding bonsai, and a landscape ink painting.
Elegant yet tasteful, the decor is just right; this private room exudes these two qualities inside and out.
High class!
Of course, two members of Pengshan's elite were seated in this elegant private room.
One of them is Chen Ping, one of the sect's elders.
One is Wu Er, the lazy leader of a sect.
"Senior Brother, you didn't even tell me you were coming. It was such a pleasant surprise to see you."
Chen Ping knelt beside the coffee table, brewing tea.
He recalled what had just happened, and a few beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
Wu Er, sitting cross-legged on the other side of the coffee table, laughed and said, "What, you're not happy that I came to see you? Weren't you pleasantly surprised by how we met just now?"
"A pleasant surprise, truly a pleasant surprise."
Chen Ping, who was brewing tea, looked at his senior brother with a wry smile and a helpless expression.
The water on the coffee table was just beginning to boil, and Chen Ping quickly poured it into the tea leaves to brew.
In no time, the aroma of tea filled the air.
Once the tea was brewed, Chen Ping poured it into a tea pitcher, and then poured the tea from the pitcher into teacups.
The movements were very practiced and looked very disciplined.
"Senior Brother, please."
Chen Ping held the tea tray in one hand, serving tea to Wu Er, and extended the other hand in a gesture of inviting him to drink.
It can be said that every single movement was perfectly disciplined.
"You're so well-behaved."
Wu Er glanced at Chen Ping and muttered something under his breath.
Although Chen Ping was very disciplined, Wu Er was not so disciplined.
He didn't do any of those things like tapping on the table to express his gratitude or observing the aroma of the tea; instead, he simply picked up the teacup and gulped down a large mouthful of tea.
After taking a sip, Wu Er put down his teacup and said, "The tea is alright, but you're too formal. You don't need to be so formal when drinking tea with me. It's making me uncomfortable."
"Really?" Chen Ping touched the ring on his finger and said, "Perhaps it's a habit I've developed over the years, but I always follow this rule when doing business."
Wu Er tapped the tea tray lightly and said, "I'm not here to talk business with you."
"Haha, that's for sure."
Chen Ping gave a wry smile.
Wu Er picked up the tea tray again, took a big gulp of tea, and said, "By the way, I heard that another batch of live animals from our chamber of commerce was recently intercepted. Can you tell me about it?"
"Huh? This matter..."
Upon hearing this question, Chen Ping subconsciously rubbed the corner of his clothes with his hand.
You could tell he was a little nervous.
Chen Ping was raised by Wu Er from a young age, and no emotion could escape his notice.
Wu Er immediately noticed Chen Ping's nervousness, so he shook his head helplessly.
He said, "Just tell me, I won't blame you. I'm just asking to see if I can help you resolve this."
Hearing this, Chen Ping released the hand that was twisting the hem of his clothes and said, "Of course I know that Senior Brother shouldn't blame me, but this is indeed too embarrassing..."
"Shameful?" Wu Er became interested. "How were those goods intercepted?"
So Chen Ping spoke up to explain, "Senior Brother, do you know why our men arrested you just now?"
Wu Er thought for a moment and said, "When I was at the city gate, I heard what they said. It must be someone impersonating our people."
Having said that, Wu Er understood, and tapped his hand a few times, saying, "Could it be that someone disguised themselves as a member of a sect and intercepted the goods?"
Chen Ping nodded and said, "That's how it is. The management of people in the Chamber of Commerce is not as strict as that in the sects, which is why they were given an opportunity to take advantage of it."
"Oh." Wu Er nodded. "There's nothing shameful about it. We can just promote cultivator certificates here at the Chamber of Commerce next time."
Seeing that Wu Er did not blame him, Chen Ping gave a bitter laugh twice.
He said, "The shameful thing is that we haven't caught anyone yet, and the other side has left a letter provoking us, saying they're going to intercept another batch of our goods."
Upon hearing this, Wu Er raised an eyebrow, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
While feeling ashamed, I also felt that the person who intercepted the goods was very bold.
The only sects with such audacity to go against Pengshan Sect are probably the other four major sects.
"Hmm, do you have any leads on the identities of those who intercepted the goods?"
Wu Er lowered his head slightly, probably thinking about something.
Chen Ping stirred the teacup beside him and said, "Of course there are clues. No matter how you look at it, it's the work of those four major sects."
"I think so too."
Wu Er stretched out his legs a little and said, "But I'm too embarrassed to break ties with them."
"Yes, just as Senior Brother said."
Chen Ping's face was reflected in the pale yellow tea in the tea tray; it was a somewhat melancholy face.
"Sigh..." Chen Ping sighed helplessly, "So, I can only suffer in silence."
Hearing the sigh, Wu Er picked up the teacup with one hand and drank the tea in one gulp.
Then, with a loud crash, he slammed the teacup onto the coffee table.
Why are you sighing?
Wu Er looked at Chen Ping and said, "Why are you sighing when I'm here? Your senior brother is here today, so I'll handle everything."
After saying this, Wu Er stopped sitting on the ground and stood up.
He said, "Junior brother has been bullied. How can I, as your senior brother, tolerate this? I'll intercept all their goods in a bit and avenge you."
Wu Er dotes on his junior brothers and sisters, and he can't stand it if they suffer even the slightest grievance.
