Chapter Thirty-Five describes some events from the past (the timeline is stretched back seven hundred years).

"You saw it seven hundred years ago?"

"Yes, I saw it seven hundred years ago!"

Upon hearing this, Wu Er narrowed his eyes and glanced at Gou Weichao beside him.

Thinking about how Gou Weichao looked when he was seriously injured and transformed into his original form, some distant memories came flooding back.

......

More than seven hundred years ago, in a small town in a mortal kingdom in the Central Plains...

It's already autumn, although the weather isn't very cool yet, it's even hotter.

The street vendors, having spent the whole day setting up their stalls and doing business, were already unbearably hot, each one of them drenched in sweat.

As the saying goes, "July's heat is intense," which describes the sweltering heat of early autumn.

But plants are much more sensitive than people. Although the weather is not cold yet, the branches have all turned yellow.

Some of the older trees had already shed a few red leaves early on.

At this moment, a boy wearing patched clothes and straw sandals, carrying a large basket on his back, was walking with difficulty down the street.

He must have done a lot of work, as he was soaked to the bone.

"It's already autumn, why is it still so hot?"

After grumbling, Wu Er took another heavy breath, sweat dripping down his cheeks and wetting a small patch of the ground.

After a busy day, I'm exhausted, but even though I'm very tired, I still have to persevere.

After all, there are still a large group of people who depend on him for their livelihood.

At the street corner ahead, there were many people, young and old, sitting on one side with open baskets and bundles in their hands.

This is a street stall; this street corner is where vendors gather.

Calling them vendors isn't quite accurate; they'd be more like a group selling miscellaneous items.

Wu Er was also there to sell things.

Arriving at a secluded street corner, I found a spot where no one was occupying it, put down the basket behind me, and then plopped down on the ground.

Then he opened the basket, skillfully took out the contents, and arranged them to the side.

Wu Er was selling herbs, not anything expensive, just common herbs.

There aren't many styles; there are only a few common ones.

However, this still attracts quite a few people.

The reason it attracts people is simple: Wu Er's medicine is much cheaper than that of the clinic, and it's all freshly harvested.

In this world, not everyone has a lot of spare money. Many people find the medicine in clinics too expensive, so they get a separate prescription and only get a small amount of medicine from the clinic.

Then come to Wu Er and get the medicine according to the prescription, and you can save a lot of money.

Before long, several people came to Wu Er's stall, took out their prescriptions and copper coins to buy medicine.

When business came in, Wu Er naturally started doing business, chatting with the customers and cracking jokes with them.

Although he was a teenager, he was quite adept at casual conversation in the marketplace, and seemed rather shrewd.

If the customer is a regular, I'll give them a few extra herbs as a gift. This is to keep them as regulars and make it easier for them to make a sale next time.

He is quite adept at interpersonal relationships and social interactions, so he must have done this kind of business quite a bit.

After serving another customer and counting how many copper coins he had earned, Wu Er wiped the sweat from his brow.

Although it was in a secluded street corner where the sun didn't shine, it was still quite hot.

Taking another deep breath, Wu Er looked at the other vendors around him.

On the left is an elderly woman who sells vegetables. I've met her a few times before; she's a very nice person.

The burly man on the right was a complete stranger. He sold furs and, although he looked honest and didn't seem like a bad person.

But people are not judged by their appearance alone.

"Hey sir, you look unfamiliar. Is this your first time setting up a stall here?"

Wu Er shifted closer to the man and gave him a smile.

The man was waiting for a guest. Hearing Wu Er speak, he was taken aback, slowly turned his head, and replied woodenly, "Yes."

Seeing the man's actions and hearing his simple answer, Wu Er breathed a sigh of relief; he was an honest man.

In the past, he had encountered many ruffians who would sit next to Wu Er pretending to sell things, and then steal them, so he was still very cautious about unfamiliar faces.

However, once they confirmed that he was an honest person, their vigilance lessened somewhat.

"Brother, I have a few extra herbs here, please take them."

With a smile on his face, Wu Er took out a small bundle of specially tied herbs from the basket, which was a gift.

Although the man was honest and kind, we still had to give him some things, as a way of making a good connection.

"Hmm?" The man looked at the herbs Wu Er had brought over, paused for a moment, and then said, "Thank you."

He thanked them and then put the herbs away.

When Wu Er saw that the other man had accepted the herbs, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. After thinking for a moment, he decided to chat with the newcomer for a while.

It's always good to say a few words to strangers and get to know them a little better.

Wu Er glanced around and noticed the furs laid out in front of the man. He came up with a topic for conversation and asked, "Brother, did you hunt these furs yourself?"

After saying this, Wu Er pretended to be envious and said, "That's really amazing. I wish I had that skill."

"Don't praise me, I didn't do it."

The man didn't get cocky because of Wu Er's praise, but instead said something like this.

"You didn't hit him, brother?"

Wu Er looked puzzled and asked, "If they weren't hunted, where did you get so many furs?"

The man was honest and said directly, "I found it."

"Found it?"

"Someone threw it away, so I picked it up."

This answer surprised Wu Er slightly.

Although fur is not particularly valuable, it is not cheap either; most people cannot afford more than a few pieces.
