Wu Er was very familiar with that voice.
He had heard that bell ring two hundred years ago.
Even after two hundred years, Wu Er will never forget that voice.
He shifted his gaze from the foul-smelling river surface and then scanned his surroundings, searching for the golden bell.
The golden bell that saved Wu Er and guided him onto the path of cultivation.
He suddenly stood up and turned around abruptly.
Wu Er spotted the person immediately—a pretty girl with a golden bell on her wrist.
"Kunwu?"
Looking at the people not far away, Wu Er tentatively asked a question.
At this moment, Kun Wu was walking forward with his head down, completely unaware of Wu Er in front of him.
Kunwu raised her head when she heard someone calling her.
In an instant, their eyes met.
"You are... Wu Er?"
Although it had been two hundred years since they last met, Kunwu recognized Wuer.
The two met by the river.
Wu Er was very happy to see Kun Wu and hurried over.
Perhaps because they were walking too fast, their feet made a "rustling" sound as they stepped on the withered grass by the river.
"How did you end up here? Why did you leave without saying goodbye two hundred years ago?"
Wu Er approached Kun Wu and immediately posed two questions.
Kun Wu wasn't as excited as Wu Er, but said with a slightly fluctuating tone, "What a coincidence! I didn't expect to see you here. What are you doing here?"
"Oh, it's nothing." Wu Er's mood dipped slightly. "I was just passing by and saw that people here were having some trouble getting through, so I thought I'd lend a hand."
Upon hearing this, Kunwu leaned forward slightly and glanced at the stinking river beside him.
He said, "I was right. You are a kind person. The pills that helped you cleanse your marrow were not wasted."
Back in the small temple, Kunwu used precious elixirs to help Wuer improve his aptitude.
Wu Er remembers this matter very clearly.
It was a great favor, so I remember it deeply.
Wu Er smiled awkwardly and said, "By the way, why did you come here?"
Upon hearing the question, Kun Wu didn't try to hide anything and replied directly, "I came here to capture a few cultivators. A few days ago, some cultivators stole my things, and I followed their scent here."
"Capture cultivators?"
Upon hearing this, Wu Er looked toward the stream.
The reason why this river is polluted and the people in this small town suffer from diseases is also related to certain cultivators.
It's likely that the person who polluted the river is the same person Kunwu is looking for.
Although it's not entirely certain yet, it's highly likely.
Thinking of this, Wu Er asked again, "So, have you found them?"
"Not yet." Kunwu shook his head.
Hearing that they hadn't found it yet, Wu Er said with some regret, "Oh, I see..."
His tone was somewhat downcast, presumably because he was distressed by the plague. If he could catch him, he could ask him how to cure the plague.
Wu Er then suppressed his low spirits, as he didn't like showing these feelings in front of others.
Wu Er smiled again and asked, "Does Miss Kun have a place to stay?"
Having finally met an old friend, and one who had been kind to him, Wu Er was naturally very enthusiastic.
Kunwu was a straightforward man. He shook his head and said, "Not yet. I came in a hurry, so naturally I have nowhere to stay."
"That's a perfect coincidence!" Wu Er immediately replied, "I have a clinic in this city. If Miss Kun doesn't mind, you can stay at my place for a while."
After saying that, Wu Er thought for a moment and added, "I'm actually quite big."
Seeing how enthusiastic they were, Kunwu didn't refuse, but said, "Thank you for your help again."
"No trouble at all!" Wu Er quickly waved his hand. "It's getting late. Let's go back to our lodgings together. It's dangerous for a girl like you to be out on the street so late at night!"
Upon hearing this, Kun Wu rolled his eyes at Wu Er, "We are all cultivators, and this is a mortal city. How could we possibly encounter any danger?"
"Oh, that's true," Wu Er replied sheepishly.
Next, the two headed towards the traditional Chinese medicine clinic.
Throughout the journey, Wu Er was very enthusiastic, chatting non-stop with Kun Wu.
Kunwu wasn't a cold person. Although they hadn't seen each other for two hundred years and were a bit estranged, they chatted for a while and then opened up to each other, and she became more talkative.
It has to be said that the two are quite a good match.
Wu Er has shed his youthful naiveté and grown up, his white clothes giving him a soft and elegant appearance.
Kunwu was a pretty girl with a tall figure and a graceful demeanor.
The two people walking on the desolate street added a lot of color to the gloomy scenery.
"We've arrived."
Wu Er and Kun Wu stopped in front of the Xuanhu Medical Clinic.
Kunwu stood at the entrance of the clinic, looking around and glancing up at the signboard hanging above the door.
"Xuanhu Medical Clinic?"
After a moment's thought, Kun Wu smiled at Wu Er and said, "Xuanhu Medical Clinic, 'Xuanhu Jishi,' you've certainly chosen a grand name."
These words prompted Wu Er to glance at the plaque, and then he said softly, "Is the name grand? I think it's alright."
It was dusk, and the sunlight was slanting low.
Although the clouds in the sky blocked out the light, some light still managed to peek through.
The light was slanted, and although the entrance was brightly lit, not a single ray of sunlight shone on the plaque that read "Xuanhu Medical Clinic".
"Let's go, don't stand outside."
Wu Er looked away from the signboard and then beckoned Kun Wu into the courtyard of the clinic.
