Chapter 25 Familiar Place

Chapter 25 Familiar Place

Xu Qingsui looked over there. In the pitch-black night, only a few lights could be seen.

"Really? That's such a coincidence."

Logically speaking, Xu Qingsui should have many memories of that school, but those memories have become vague with the passage of time.

She could no longer remember who her teacher was or who her classmates were. She only remembered that she grew up here and which school she attended.

After dinner, the two walked out of the restaurant.

Xu Qingsui stood under the wall, looking at the dark courtyard on the other side, a hint of sadness emerging in his eyes.

Huo Xilin stood behind her: "Let's go for a walk?"

This suggestion was exactly what Xu Qingsui wanted.

She hasn't been back here for a long time.

It was a rare opportunity for her to come here, and she wanted to walk along the familiar streets and take a look. More importantly, she wanted to take a look at the small courtyard next door.

The two walked along the alley to the door of the next courtyard. There was no light on inside and it was so dark that they could only vaguely see the outline of the building and nothing else.

Xu Qingsui murmured to himself, "Do you think this family is asleep?"

"It looks like no one lives here." Huo Xilin suggested, "Do you want to climb over the wall and take a look?"

Xu Qingsui turned his head and looked at him in surprise, unable to believe that such words came out of Huo Xilin's mouth.

Climbing over the wall and breaking into someone else's house in the middle of the night will definitely be considered a thief.

Xu Qingsui shook his head: "Not very good."

Huo Xilin glanced at Xu Qingsui and said nothing more. He then jumped over the wall and into the yard.

His movements were so agile and handsome that Xu Qingsui was stunned.

If she didn't know that he was the president of a large group and had been pampered since childhood, she would have mistakenly thought that climbing over the wall was his unique skill. Isn't he too skilled?

There was a hole in the corner of the wall next to the door. Huo Xilin stood in front of the hole and said to Xu Qingsui, "Come here, crawl in from here."

"How do you know there is a hole here?" Xu Qingsui asked in surprise.

When she was a child, her grandparents and parents were rarely at home, and she and her younger brother were the only ones at home. Sometimes they forgot to bring their keys, so they would crawl through this hole and then run to the place where they hid the spare keys. Therefore, this hole has been preserved.

Xu Qingsui didn't expect that the house had been bought by someone else and so much time had passed, but he didn't expect that the hole was still there, still in its original appearance.

So she couldn't help but squat down and crawl into the yard through the hole.

Huo Xilin reached out and pulled her up, brushing off the dust on her clothes: "It just fell down, and I saw it by accident."

Xu Qingsui nodded, indicating that he believed it without a doubt.

Although this hole looks hidden from the outside, it can be seen at a glance from the inside.

She ran into the old place as if possessed, and seeing that the flower bed was still there, she reached out and felt under the flower bed, and then felt a key.

Xu Qingsui quickly took out the key, his eyes moistened: "I didn't expect it was still there."

"Try to see if you can open it. I see no one has lived here for a long time."

Xu Qingsui turned on the flashlight on his cell phone and looked at the layout of the yard, which was almost exactly the same as it was before the house was sold.

This made her feel as if nothing had happened yet.

Following Huo Xilin's advice, she took the key and went to open the door of the house.

With a click, the old rusty lock was opened.

I pushed the door open and walked into the room, and the lights were suddenly turned on.

Xu Qingsui turned around and saw Huo Xilin's hand taking down the switch.

The layout of the house had not changed at all. Xu Qingsui moved slowly. On the wall were the awards she and her brother had received in kindergarten and elementary school, as well as the paintings they had drawn...

She emptied the clothes in the closet when she moved, but the furniture was still the same as before, even the teacups that grandpa and grandma used to drink water were still on the table...

Tears slid down my face unknowingly, and everything was so familiar.

Unfortunately, things have changed and the people who once brought laughter and joy to this house have passed away one by one and will never come back.

In this world, she and her younger brother are the only ones left to depend on each other.

Suddenly, sirens sounded outside the door, and soon several uncles in hats ran in: "We received a report that you broke into a private house. Show me your ID."

Xu Qingsui wiped her tears, and her thoughts were suddenly pulled back. She quickly apologized: "I'm sorry, we just came in to take a look, and we didn't mean anything else."

"No matter what your purpose is, is it true that you broke into a private house?"

Xu Qingsui had no way to refute his allegations and was about to plead guilty.

Huo Xilin spoke first, "Who reported us for trespassing?"

Uncle Hat was stunned for a moment: "Are you the owner of this house?"

"Of course." Huo Xilin said confidently, "I have the property certificate."

After saying that, he turned around, took out a red book from a cabinet, and handed it to Uncle Hat.

Uncle in the Hat took it doubtfully, opened it and looked at it, then compared it with Huo Xilin's ID card. After confirming that the property certificate was indeed Huo Xilin's, he returned the two items to him.

"Since it's a misunderstanding, we won't bother you anymore." After saying that, several people turned around and left.

Only Xu Qingsui was left in confusion.

Does this house belong to Huo Xilin?

“Why did you buy this house and when did you buy it?”

Xu Qingsui couldn't figure it out. When the house was sold, she was only in her teens. Huo Xilin was about the same age as her. At that time, Huo Xilin was also in his teens. Why did he buy this house?

"This area is all the assets of the Huo Group. It was originally going to be demolished and rebuilt, but it was shelved for some reasons. Now it has become an ancient building in the city center, so we just preserved it."

Xu Qingsui nodded thoughtfully after hearing this: "So that's how it is. But since this piece of land is the property of the Huo Group, why is the property certificate in your name?"

This is an asset belonging to the group and should not belong to Huo Xilin alone.

Huo Xilin sighed, his expression showing a hint of regret.

"When I decided to sign the marriage agreement with you, I did a background check on you, so I have some understanding of your family situation. I originally planned to give this place to you as a gift on your birthday, so I changed it to my property. But now it seems that I can only give you this surprise in advance."

"Come with me to the Housing Authority tomorrow to change the property rights. From now on, this house will be yours." After saying that, Huo Xilin handed the house deed to Xu Qingsui.

The surprise came too suddenly, and Xu Qingsui was in a daze.

With trembling hands, she took the property certificate from Huo Xilin: "How...how can I repay you?"

It seemed that she owed Huo Xilin more and more.
