Chapter 14 Falling from the Clouds
Bart sat anxiously in the main house waiting.
Patriarch Vincent has a rare day off today and is tasting wine in the underground wine cellar.
The servants cleaned the old house very thoroughly, fearing that a little dust would upset Bart and cause him to be beaten for no reason.
Although Master Bart had only moved into the main house within the last half month, he beat a maid to death on the first day he moved in.
This beating made all the servants in the manor realize how violent and difficult he was to serve.
But even Count Vincent ignored him, and these lowly servants had no way to deal with it.
They could only serve this young master in fear and trepidation all day long.
In just half a month, Vincent Manor changed more servants than in the past six months.
These are just the servants on the manor. As for the lowly slaves, I'm afraid the casualties were even more severe.
And today is the day for the final exam.
Everyone in the royal city knew about the bet between Master Bart and Master Klein, and many were waiting to see the final outcome.
Even though Master Bart always looked like he had a sure win, many servants were still worried.
What if, what if Master Bart loses?
They didn't dare to imagine that scene. The furious Master Bart would definitely beat them all to death!
The maid who was watering the flowers held the kettle tremblingly.
Kelly, another maid who was taking care of the flowers and plants, tugged at her skirt and whispered, "I wonder how many points the young master got in the exam. Mary, do you think the young master will win this time?"
Mary pulled back her skirt and lowered her head and said, "Are you going to die by discussing this? The day before yesterday, Jenny was caught by Master Bart discussing a bet and was dragged out and beaten to death!"
Mary can still recall the miserable plight of her good sister Jenny.
She was beaten to a bloody mess, with blood all over her body, but that devilish Master Bart was still laughing!
Mary will never forget that scene.
This has become a nightmare that scares her every night!
"It's okay." Kelly comforted her, "You see, Master Bart is in the main house. We are in this side garden. As long as we pay attention to the gate, we won't be caught!"
Mary looked at the closed door with fear, as if she was looking into the abyss of hell.
"Mike hasn't come back yet. I wonder if he has seen the Master's score yet."
Mike is the unlucky guard who is assigned to watch the sign for Bart Vincent.
"But if you ask me, has Mike offended someone recently? Otherwise, how could he be so unlucky that he was sent by the butler to watch the board for Master Bart!"
"Isn't it?" Mary agreed with Kelly's statement very much. Although she was afraid in her heart, she couldn't help but nodded in agreement.
Perhaps in other noble manors, it is a very honorable thing to watch the board for the master.
But at Vincent Manor, this was an unavoidable disaster.
Even if Master Bart won the bet by chance, he would not give a good look to the person watching the sign.
Arrogant Master Bart only thinks that his hard work has brought good results.
But God knows that Master Bart had been partying every night during the half month he was preparing for the exam! The women's moans never stopped at night.
Many young and beautiful maids were killed.
After all, if they didn't obey, Master Bart would sell them to whore alleys.
If Master Bart loses the bet,
That would be even more terrible!
Mary couldn't help shivering again as she thought about it.
She always had an extremely rich imagination, and she would scare herself to death from time to time.
Kelly knew what she was thinking when she saw her trembling.
But Kelly did not feel disdainful, she understood Mary's fear very well.
Mary is not as plain as her appearance. The youthful Mary is a real beauty.
If it weren't for the housekeeper's compassion, I'm afraid she would have fallen into the hands of Master Bart long ago.
Kelly squeezed her friend's trembling arm and comforted her again: "Don't be afraid, Mary, things are not as bad as you think!"
"If Master Bart really wins, I will take you away from Vincent Manor secretly. It is better for the two of us to wander in a foreign land than to stay in Vincent Manor."
Mary was so moved that she shed tears and choked up in a low voice: "But, but what if Master Bart loses?"
Kelly smiled and said, "That's even better. Mary, do you know why Master Bart can win the favor of the Earl? If he loses face for the Vincent family this time, the Earl will definitely not forgive him!"
"Besides..." Kelly smiled mysteriously, "I accidentally heard a shocking secret a few days ago!"
"What?"
Kelly leaned close to Mary's ear and whispered, "...He was the one who did the kidnapping a while ago."
"What!" Mary's pupils trembled and she said in disbelief.
"Shh, shh, keep your voice down!" Kelly pushed Mary down to squat.
The two of them hid behind the lush flowers together.
"So you don't have to worry. Even if the Earl lets him go, the Klein family won't let him live!"
During the conversation, Mary noticed a man walking from a distance and slowly pushed open the door of the main house.
"Look! Look! Mike is back! Did he see Master Bart's score? Did Master Bart really win?!" Mary said excitedly.
Kelly also stared at the closed door and said, "I don't know."
The two held their breath and stared at the door intently.
Less than two minutes later, a heart-wrenching roar and the sound of various objects falling to the ground came from the main house.
"... rubbish... I don't believe it...!"
"roll!"
“…People…go again…!!”
The soundproofing of the main house was not bad, but they could still hear faint sounds.
This is enough to show how intense the situation inside is.
The two maids looked at each other, excitement gleaming in their eyes.
“Lose!”
"Master Bart lost!!!"
…
"I don't believe it!! What the hell are you talking about?! Who gave you the guts to deceive your master? Don't you want to live?!"
Bart smashed the vase next to him, and with bloodshot eyes he picked up the servant who was watching the sign for him.
"Let me ask you again, how many points did that vase get?!"
The servant's head was smashed by him, and the blood on his head dyed his eyes red, making him look like a monster crawling out of the abyss.
“…”
He opened his mouth, but no sound came out of his throat.
Bart, who was holding his collar, was already breathing heavily, his eyes were so red that they were about to bleed.
"Talk! How dare you not answer my question?!"
“…”
Bart was so angry that he changed from grabbing to pinching, tightly pinching the servant's dark neck.
A shadow appeared before the servant's eyes, and a sense of impending death gripped him.
“Knock knock—”
Bart turned his head angrily, but froze when he met the cold gaze of Vincent Manor's steward.
"Master Bart, the Earl asked you to go to the wine cellar."
Bart shuddered.
His trembling hand gave the servant a glimmer of hope, and the servant suddenly burst out of Bart's hand with a desire to survive.
But Bart no longer paid attention to the bloody man lying at his feet.
His expression was stiff and ugly as he said, "I have a party to attend soon. It's hosted by Cary..."
Cary is also the surname of a prominent noble in the royal city. In the past, Bart would not be qualified to get involved and say a word if he were a person of this class.
But ever since he made the bet with Klein, this arrogant son of aristocracy showed him kindness for the first time, and took him to several banquets with very high barriers to entry.
And Count Vincent was obviously very satisfied with his high-quality circle of friends.
In fact, there was no subsequent banquet.
But Bart still subconsciously moved out of Cary, hoping to avoid Count Vincent's attack.
However, the cold-faced housekeeper seemed not to hear him and said to him politely, "Master Bart, please."
This familiar scene immediately reminded him of similar embarrassing memories from before.
He thought that once he succeeded, he would be different from the invisible person who was kicked out of the party.
But this pleasure was too short-lived.
But in just half a month, he fell from the clouds.
Bart Vincent walked stiffly in front of the butler.
Only then did he realize that his legs had already become limp and weak. He walked just a few steps with trembling legs.
The lights in the hallway were not on, and in the dim corridor there was only a thin ray of light coming through the crack of the door.
The door of the wine cellar was not closed, and Bart saw broken glass all over the floor.
He wiped his face fiercely, hiding the ferocious expression on his face, and replaced it with a pitiful look of crying bitterly.
"Father! I am guilty——"
Bart lowered his head, his eyes fell on the broken glass scattered on the ground, and he knelt down heavily on his knees with a ruthless heart.
"Father..." He cried loudly and walked on his knees into the bright wine cellar.
Before Bart could even see Count Vincent's expression, a shot of red wine came towards him and made him see stars.
The red wine bottle was smashed to pieces, and the mellow red wine spilled all over Bart.
A small cut was made on the top of Bart's head, and blood kept flowing down. The bright red blood and the translucent red wine liquid mixed together, soaking his entire body.
The smell of blood and the aroma of red wine mixed together to create a disgusting stench.
"Don't call me father. There's no such rubbish as you in the Vincent family!"
Count Vincent's boots were also stained with some splashed red wine.
Bart had no time to care about the blood that kept flowing from his forehead. He stumbled to his knees at his feet, kissing the back of his shoes and said, "That Klein must have done something, otherwise how could he get a perfect score? You know, he only got six points in the last mock exam!
"His aunt is Queen Klein... Maybe, maybe it was Queen Klein who leaked the test to him? Maybe it was Queen Klein who leaked the test to him!"
Count Vincent kicked Bart away.
"Use your rusty goblin brain! The final exam is jointly supervised by three parties, and the exam questions are prepared by the headquarters of the Magic Association!"
Count Vincent's words were extremely vicious.
You know, goblins are the monsters with the lowest IQ in the entire Isaiah continent!
Such a reckless insult made Bart break down instantly and clench his hands tightly.
"You will move out of Vincent's main house tomorrow, and never let me see you in the capital again! Do you hear me?"
"Father!" Bart's head hit the ground.
"Also, all the properties under your name will be taken back from today as compensation for your family's losses." Earl Vincent said coldly.
Fortunately, he was careful from the beginning and had already evacuated all the secret lines in the cannery.
The loss is still within an acceptable range.
It's just that this person who brought shame to the Vincent family...
He kept Vincent's blood in his body, so he gave him a chance to live.
I will spend the rest of my life living a miserable life in a remote village.
Bart raised his head suddenly, as if struck by lightning.
"Father, father, you can't do this to me...Father!"
"Are you refuting me?" Count Vincent squinted at him.
"No, father, I didn't mean that! Father, I just don't want to leave your side, father... Father, you know that I admire you the most."
Count Vincent was too lazy to pay attention to him. He stood up and straightened his collar.
He glanced at Vincent who was lying on the ground with his eyes wide open, his expression full of contempt and disdain.
"Shut up. Do you think I don't know what you did in private?"
Vincent's trembling body froze.
"Otherwise you'll be considered a waste! If you dare to do something, do it to the end. It's hard to achieve anything if you shrink back!"
This time Bart really cried bitterly and grabbed his legs and said, "Father, save me, save my father! I don't want to die yet..."
"Humph." Vincent kicked him away, "You'd better pray that the assassins aren't exposed!"
"Hurry up and pack your things, we have to deliver the bets to that cunning little Klein tonight!"
