Chapter 10: Stepping into the Sky

I ignored these things. While Huo Yan was away, I tiptoed and pulled out the five red lines that had been placed in the five corners of the toilet, and then came to the big willow tree at the back door of the toilet.

I asked Su Xiaoniu, somewhat curiously, why she tied the red string to this willow tree? She replied, "As the saying goes, 'Don't plant mulberry trees in front, don't plant willow trees behind, and don't plant trees in the courtyard—ghosts clap their hands.' Willow trees are naturally yin, a favorite haunt for ghosts. Huo Yan's body formed a cocoon beneath this willow tree!"

Huo Yan's body was right under this big willow tree? Holy shit, I was so scared.

This willow tree must be a winter willow, very tall, with branches crisscrossing and weeping, but its leaves are all white. Against the backdrop of the dim environment, it is even more eerie.

Su Xiaoniu told me to tie the red string up quickly. I came to my senses, suppressed my pounding heart, and recalled the Qigong techniques and formulas Su Xiaoniu had taught me. I walked around the big willow tree and began to practice Qigong techniques, reciting the formulas.

"White Qi and chaos fill my body, and I ascend to Yangming with the steps of Yu."

"When the sky turns and the earth turns, I step on the seven stars, and when I step on the powerful shoes, I fight against the nine spirits."

"A hundred gods help me to slay the demons, and subdue the evil spirits."

"All disasters will be eliminated and I will attain immortality. I will attain immortality and ascend to the Pure Land."

"Hurry and obey the Supreme Lord's command!"

While reciting this incantation, I quickly tied five red strings to the big willow tree, tightened them, and made a death seal knot.

Su Xiaoniu praised my amazing memory. She actually recited the whole thing word for word and even performed the Steps of the Dragon Steps at the same time! Actually, I'm quite impressed with myself. Why didn't I realize this back when I was in school? I actually have this amazing ability to remember everything I see!

I was secretly gloating when a sudden, mournful cry erupted nearby. I instinctively looked towards the source. Damn, it was Huo Yan, that ghost, who had appeared behind Ning Xue at some point, almost hitting her. Su Xiaoniu said, "Thank goodness I tightened the red line just in time, pulling Huo Yan back. Otherwise, Ning Xue would have been in great danger."

Ning Xue, that girl, I told her to go, and she's still waiting for me! But Su Xiaoniu said it was because there was no light. The weather was already gloomy, and Man Yuanyi's overcast effect hadn't worn off yet. Huo Yan's appearance had obscured the last ray of light, making it terribly dark within a hundred meters. Ning Xue couldn't see the road at all, so how could she possibly move? And the reason I could see the road clearly in the darkness, and even see Ning Xue, was because Su Xiaoniu's senses coexisted with mine!

I benefited greatly from this, but then tragedy struck. I watched as Huo Yan, that ghost, rushed towards me in a rage, roaring at me fiercely, but for some reason, she couldn't utter a word.

I didn't care what she wanted to say. I was so scared that I ran out.

Huo Yan chased me relentlessly, coming up quickly from behind with her fangs bared and claws slashing, looking as if she wanted to cut me into pieces. It was so terrifying that it almost scared my heart to death!

Su Xiaoniu shouted anxiously, "Stupid pig! Why are you running? Do you think those five red strings are just for show? Go back and grab those five red strings. As long as you hold on to them, you can walk Huo Yan like a dog and make her kneel down and beg for mercy!"

I was stunned. Damn, those five red lines actually had such amazing abilities? I thought they were just pretending to be awesome! I immediately ran back in a hurry.
