That night, I once again heard the sound of high-heeled footsteps behind me. After they passed me, they gently tapped my shoulder, as if calling me. However, having experienced this so many times before, I was now quite comfortable with this kind of situation that arises when practicing mediumship.
I remained calm, my mind was clear, and I ignored everything around me. After a while, the sound of high heels gradually faded away.
This is a symptom that occurs when a novice reaches both the first and second level of psychic mediumship. However, the symptom varies depending on the person, location, and situation. Generally, it involves someone who recently died nearby, and who was even remotely related to you.
This is what Su Xiaoniu told me. The thought that the woman in high heels who just took the photo of me might be someone I know filled me with emotion. But there was no point in dwelling on it now. I composed myself and tried to remain calm, like the waves of a lake, unperturbed.
Unconsciously I entered the psychic state, my heart was clear, but I could feel many "spirits" passing by me, but I couldn't see them. But they might be able to see me, because they would occasionally pat my body, face, hands, shoulders, and legs.
According to Su Xiaoniu, this is an abnormality that will only appear after the second-level entry-level training reaches the peak state. It feels like a lot of people appear around you and revolve around you.
"Huh?" Suddenly, my eyes became slightly brighter. It wasn't that I opened my eyes, but I seemed to see another world... I couldn't help but let out a cry of surprise.
Because of that surprised sound, I suddenly saw many balls of green, white, yellow, red and other lights floating in front of me, and some chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, pigs and other livestock were circling around me. They had no eyeballs and were covered with black air, which scared me.
Before I could react, a woman in a black shroud rushed towards me, her hands as sharp and powerful as chicken claws, and she grabbed my face.
"Shit, isn't this... isn't this Huo Yan! How could she be here!" I was so frightened that my hair stood on end. I wanted to turn around and run, but I couldn't move at all. It was as if my whole body was frozen in place. I suddenly remembered that I was practicing as a medium and couldn't move at all. I had to retreat.
I immediately calmed down and tried to exit my mediumship state. Perhaps I was too panicked; no matter what I did, I couldn't exit, as if the exit door was locked. I thought to myself, "I'm doomed! Why would I have to see Huo Yan? Damn it! This is clearly courting death!"
Just as Huo Yan's claws were about to strike my face, a mere centimeter away, I was suddenly pulled out. I opened my eyes and was still sitting on the mat, but I was already sweating profusely, my clothes were soaked, and I was panting heavily, as if I had just returned from the brink of death.
Su Xiaoniu's earnest voice rang in my ears: "Although it was very dangerous just now and you almost died, luckily I saved you in time. But no matter what, you have reached the third level of entry into psychic mediumship, so you can see those things, even Huo Yan."
"I've reached Level 3 Entry?" I was still a little shocked, after all, I was on the verge of death just now and was still gasping for breath. But when I heard that I had reached Level 3 Entry, I was immediately delighted. All my efforts over the past few days had finally paid off!
Thinking back, those horrible things I just saw, animals and livestock would be fine, but what were those balls of colorful light?
Su Xiaoniu said, "The chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, and other livestock you see are those that were killed nearby in the past few days, or cats and dogs that died. Their souls are still lingering nearby and haven't been reincarnated. As for those colorful balls of light, they are human souls. Like you, they practiced mediumship, but when they failed, they were trapped inside and will never be reincarnated."
I was terrified for a moment. If I hadn't been able to escape and been beaten to death by Huo Yan inside, would I have also ended up in eternal damnation? Su Xiaoniu's answer was a resounding yes, adding, "However, you won't turn into a ball of light, because you were beaten to death by Huo Yan inside, not by backlash."
No matter what happens, I'm dead, okay? I rolled my eyes. Luckily, I was safe now. I've even mastered the mediumship skill to the third entry level. Now, I can communicate with ghosts through mediumship and even summon them to do things for me!
Thinking of this, I was extremely excited and eager to try it, but I was also afraid of seeing Huo Yan, so I was a little hesitant. Until Su Xiaoniu told me: "When you use the medium to connect the Yin and Yang worlds, if you don't think about her in your heart, she will naturally not appear in front of you. But if you think about Huo Yan from time to time in your mind, it's hard to say."
I took a deep breath. As long as I didn't think about Huo Yan, she wouldn't appear in front of me! Although I learned psychic skills mainly to meet Huo Yan for communication, I didn't have the courage to face her yet. I had to try it out first and then prepare to meet Huo Yan.
After careful consideration, I rested for a moment and ate two loaves of bread to recharge. These were the last bit of change I'd left after leaving the company, and they were my only food for the day. Whenever I felt hungry, I'd just have two loaves of bread and a glass of tap water. Luckily, Su Xiaoniu's hometown had water, otherwise I'd have been out of pocket again.
Then, Su Xiaoniu asked me to find a cat or dog nearby so that I could try my psychic powers on animals. I took a walk around her hometown and saw two dogs fighting at the corner of an alley. One was black, the other yellow.
