The flower happened to be right where the Lycoris radiata had taken root. Lycoris radiata smiled, gently stroked the white flower twice, and whispered, "I know you are here, so I came."
Crystal tears fell on the white petals.
Two red and white flowers of the other shore took root, and just like that, they grew on the Forgetful River for generations to come. Even though they could never meet, they could stay together, feeling each other, forever and ever.
Happiness, sometimes, is that simple.
"Fei Fei...what was that just now?" Grandpa and grandma came over to me curiously and asked me.
I shook my head and said it was nothing, then turned around and took my grandpa and grandma away from the Naihe Bridge, the Wangchuan River, and the pair of lovebirds who were destined to be together forever.
After crossing the Naihe Bridge, you will reach the Three Lives Stone, and after crossing the Three Lives Stone, you will reach the last stop on this road to reincarnation - the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
In the distance from Naihe Bridge, there is a blue stone called the Three Lives Stone. The Three Lives Stone records the past and present lives of each person. The words on the stone are as red as blood, and the four big words "Reach the Other Shore Early" are engraved on the top.
"In this life, I know the events of my past life. My surname is engraved on the Three Lives Stone. I don't know who she will be in the next life. I will forget all the events of my three lives after drinking the soup."
For millennia, the Three Lives Stone has stood by the Naihe Bridge, watching over those in Hell as they prepare to drink Mengpo's soup and be reborn. It has silently witnessed countless lives' joys and sorrows, witnessed countless sorrows and joys, and heard countless laughter and cries. For millennia, as it watched the countless beings come and go, day after day, it has known that debts owed, and love owed, are now wiped clean before the Three Lives Stone.
Grandpa and grandma stood before the Three Lives Stone and prayed silently. Then, grandma asked grandpa, "Old man, have you forgotten everything in the world?"
Grandpa hugged Grandma's withered figure and said, "As long as I can be with you, it doesn't matter if I lose everything."
"Old man..."
"Old woman..."
Before they could finish their words, two ghost messengers came up and called out, "Hey, you two are here to be reincarnated, right? Why don't you have anyone escorting you? Hey, come here quickly!"
After the Three Lives Stone, there are the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
I took my grandparents to the Samsara Department. To my surprise, there were two black and white figures floating around. After asking, I realized they were the Black and White Impermanence. Holy crap, they're actually in the Samsara Department! Before me was a large turntable with six sides, each inscribed with "Heavenly Path," "Asura Path," "Human Path," "Animal Path," "Hungry Ghost Path," and "Hell Path."
However, when grandpa and grandma went up, two of the six sides that were just displayed, the Heavenly Way and the Shura Way, were suddenly closed.
I asked the Black and White Impermanence with some surprise what was going on.
The White Impermanence said, "We don't control this. The six realms of reincarnation are determined by the reincarnated person's behavior in their lifetime. Your grandparents did a lot of good and bad things in their lives, so it's great that they can be reborn as humans. We have seen some people who have only one side of the 'animal realm' after reincarnation."
So that's how it is.
Grandma patted my shoulder and comforted me, "Fei Fei, it's okay. Your grandfather and I are already prepared for wherever we are reincarnated."
I nodded: "Grandma, I wish you and Grandpa good luck!"
Grandma smiled and walked over to Grandpa. They both shook the big turntable at the same time. As the sound of the turntable rang out, not only Grandpa and Grandma, but even I felt my heart was hanging in the air.
There are four realms: the human realm, the animal realm, the hungry ghost realm, and the hell realm. I don’t want to see my grandparents enter any of them.
Heaven, earth, Buddha, Amen... Please bless my grandparents and let them choose someone. I kowtow to you devoutly here.
"You big idiot, why are you praying 'Amen' in the underworld?" Su Xiaoniu complained.
"I don't care, as long as my grandparents can choose humanity, I'm willing to worship pigs." I said as I knelt on the ground and bowed towards the outside of the Samsara Department.
After a while, the "click" sound of the turntable stopping came from behind me. I jumped up suddenly and turned around to look.
