Chapter 296 Yinshan Ancient Temple

This photo almost scared me to death.

What did I see? My neck, right where the Blood Seal was, actually cracked open a few times. But no blood was flowing out. Instead, a fiery red liquid like magma was flowing out. The sticky skin was black, making it look like a cracked black and red mass...

The strangest thing is that in the visible black and red cracks, there is a faint human-shaped spirit, which keeps poking its head out in the form of bubbles, and looks like it is trying to squeeze out of the cracks.

hiss!

I gasped. It was the first time I'd ever seen such a bizarre and terrifying scene, and it happened to me. My hair stood on end, and I shivered uncontrollably. Su Xiaoniu seemed to sense something and asked me curiously, "Fei Fei, what's wrong with you? Are you shaking? Your heart is beating so fast... Why are you covering your neck with your hands? Is the Blood Seal Curse acting up again?"

Her series of questions started out mild and then became increasingly anxious. I knew she was worried about me, but I didn't want to make her worry, so I could only shake my head and say it was okay. But who was Su Xiaoniu? I wasn't very good at lying, and she soon discovered the clues. Just when I thought she was going to ask me everything and make her worry and sad, a Buddhist chant suddenly came from the back hall of the hall, and a little monk came out from behind the screen. When he saw us, he put his hands together and said, "Amitabha, is there anyone named Xu Fei among the donors?"

Ning Xue, Gloria, Xiao Bingbing, Xuan Xuan, and that Don, they all turned their gazes on me, making me look like some kind of monster. "God damn it, why are you looking at me? I don't even know this little monk!"

"Hello, hello! I'm Xu Fei. Do you know me?" I went up to shake his hand. This young novice monk, with a bald head and a body as thin as a bamboo pole, was half a head taller than me, with bright eyes. The most surprising thing was that when I shook his hand, I could clearly feel the calluses on his palms and his strong grip. I thought he was a master of Buddhism.

I really can't tell.

The young monk made a Buddha gesture with one hand and said, "I am Gu Xuanwu, and I have been waiting for you, benefactor, for a long time."

I was stunned for a moment, and Ning Xue and the others were also puzzled. Gu Xuanwu? Wasn't this the guy on that so-called "ghost ship" that Huo Liang mentioned, the one who disappeared into the illusion after looking through the logbook in 2010? Ning Xue had spoken to him after entering the illusion.

I hurriedly asked Ning Xue if she knew this little monk.

Ning Xue shook her head. "I don't know him. I remember when I was in the illusion, I met Gu Xuanwu. He was a young man with long hair, and he was dressed like he was from the Qingming period."

Holy shit, so there were two Gu Xuanwus? And coming back to that, Ning Xue, Gloria, Xiao Bingbing, and Xuan Xuan all emerged from the illusion on that ghost ship. Even the captain and crew were released, so why wasn't there any Gu Xuanwu?

Just as we were puzzled, Gu Xuanwu clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha, what appeared in the illusion was when I was still a layman. However, what remains there are only my five poisonous minds: greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt. These five kinds of minds will cause us to commit evil deeds, just like poison will hinder our practice, so they are called the five poisons. Eliminating the five poisonous minds is an important task for practitioners. If the five poisonous minds are not eliminated while practicing meditation, it will ultimately be an evil meditation. If the five poisonous minds still exist when practicing great supernatural powers or various mysterious great methods, the result may be demonic powers or various evil methods. Therefore, to practice Buddhism, one must first eliminate the five poisons."

So that's how it is. So, could this young novice monk be a highly accomplished monk? And, hearing him mention something like "committing evil karma," perhaps he could help clear Su Xiaonu's karmic obstacles in the living world, thereby offsetting the karmic retribution in the netherworld. Perhaps I'm overthinking this; this kind of thing isn't something an ordinary person could accomplish.

The young monk suddenly said, "Donor Xu, I know why you are here. Several donors want to see you. Please follow me." As he said that, he walked behind the screen.

I was stunned. Someone wanted to see me? Who could it be? Did I know him? Impossible! I'd never been to a place like this before, so how could I possibly know him? Could it be Bo Hongshan? Did he know I was in Yinshan and come to pick me up personally?

I asked Su Xiaoniu for her opinion, and she said it was okay for me to go in and take a look. So I called Ning Xue and the others, and followed the young monk behind the screen.
