"Damn it, this is unbelievable! We've been searching all night and haven't even seen a hair on a ghoul!"
Old Zhang leaned against the hood of the patrol car, looked at the unresponsive magic detector, and lit a cigarette with a helpless expression.
Nail, standing nearby, said, "How come these undead creatures have come into our Ye City without making a sound?"
"How would I know?" Old Zhang squinted, took a deep drag on his cigarette, and exhaled a cloud of smoke. "We're working the night shift for nothing. If we don't catch a single undead monster, we won't even get the bonus for an extra midnight snack..."
Nail yawned: "I'd rather have nothing at all. All this fighting and killing is the worst."
Old Zhang chuckled: "Nail, you're so young, how come you have no guts? If you ask me, it would be best if all those undead monsters came out, like the other night, and we had a bloodbath, killing them until rivers of blood flowed. That would be so exciting, hahaha..."
"Thump!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a muffled thud resounded from the roof of the van! A massive object had crashed down on the roof, denting a large crater in it!
Old Zhang, Nail, and the other night watchmen were all startled and turned around in astonishment.
A grotesque undead monster, its body covered in rotting flesh and blood, with visible white bones, sharp teeth, deep red eyes, and drool dripping from its mouth, was lying on the roof of the van like a wild beast!
Old Zhang's expression changed drastically as he checked the data on the system panel in front of him.
"It's a ghoul!"
Old Zhang shouted, drawing his sword: "Good heavens, we've finally opened for business! Brothers, prepare for battle!"
Nail, however, turned pale and hurriedly said, "What the hell are you talking about! You fucking look over there!"
Old Zhang turned his head to look.
On the east side of the street, more than thirty ghouls sprang out from various places.
The pedestrians on the street had already fled in panic.
The ghouls charged toward them like a pack of hungry wolves pouncing on their prey!
Holy crap!
Old Zhang was dumbfounded.
I couldn't find any just now, how come so many have suddenly appeared?
The night watchmen panicked.
There were only five of them, how could they fight against more than thirty ghouls?
"Ha-ho!"
A massive horde of ghouls roared and pounced upon them!
Old Zhang and Dingzi both gasped, gripped their straight knives tightly, and prepared to fight these monsters!
However, the ghouls did not attack them. Instead, they ignored them completely, treating them as if they were air, and ran off in the same direction.
Old Zhang, Dingzi, and the other three night watchmen were all completely bewildered.
"What's going on? Why aren't those monsters attacking us?"
"They seem to have been attracted by something..."
"Stop talking nonsense, let's notify Captain Tang first."
Old Zhang used the system to dial Tang Hongshan's number. After the call connected, he immediately reported, "Team Leader Tang, emergency! We've spotted over thirty ghouls in the east of the city! But they didn't attack us; instead, they all headed south!"
"What did you say?" Tang Hongshan's face immediately darkened upon hearing the news.
Then he received two more phone calls.
"Team Leader Tang, a large number of Skeleton Wolves have been discovered in the north of the city! They're all heading south!"
"Team Leader Tang, this is the west side of the city. A lot of rotting dwarves are heading your way. Be careful!"
"......"
Tang Hongshan hung up the phone, turned to look at Cha Yizhou not far away, and asked in a deep voice, "Did you do this?"
