"Do you like it?"
Huo Jue's smiling face fell on Wen Xia Nuan.
Wen Xianuan smiled and nodded: "I like it."
She held her hand out to shine under the kerosene lamp. The pearl ring looked quite big and round.
"Huo Jue, this ring must have cost you a lot of money, right?"
She looked at him curiously: "When did you prepare it?"
Huo Jue leaned against the headboard and looked at Wen Xia Nuan with a smile: "Remember when your father left me alone to talk?"
"Did father already plan for us to get married at that time?"
"right."
Wen Xia Nuan didn't expect that her casual remark would actually be guessed correctly.
She couldn't imagine that Huo Jue had kept it a secret from her for so long: "Then you are really tight-lipped."
"This pearl ring belongs to my mother."
Huo Jue looked at Wen Xia Nuan's fingers with gentle eyes: "Ah Nuan, I originally thought the size of the ring would be small, but now it seems to be just right."
"This ring is very nice."
Wen Xia Nuan smiled: "Ajue, thank you."
"Thank you for what?"
He had already held her hand: "We will be husband and wife from now on. Husband and wife are one. Ah Nuan, you don't need to be so polite."
Wen Xia Nuan's eyes were always on his lips. As Huo Jue finished speaking, she couldn't help but move closer. In his surprised eyes, Wen Xia Nuan's lips were already touching his.
Huo Jue widened his eyes.
Wen Xia Nuan met his eyes, her delicate eyes full of smiles.
However, the next second.
Huo Jue reached out and put his arm around her waist, and pressed her onto the bed in front of her surprised look.
"A Nuan, you provoked me first."
A hoarse voice sounded in her ears. Wen Xia Nuan was about to speak, but Huo Jue had already leaned over and kissed her on the lips.
The kiss is so lingering and airtight.
The only thing Wen Xia Nuan could feel was his heavy breathing.
Huo Jue was lying on the side, his eyes fixed on her: "A Nuan, don't look at me like that."
He was afraid that he would lose control and do something he shouldn't do.
Wen Xia Nuan chuckled, stood up and looked at Huo Jue: "Now that you're awake, I won't care about you anymore."
Her lips were red. Huo Jue glanced at her and said, "Do you want me to take you home?"
"Need not."
She waved her hand: "How far is it? I can go back by myself."
Huo Jue was unwilling to do so. He had just smelled the sweet fragrance, and now he was unwilling to leave.
"Let me take you there."
Huo Jue insisted, and Wen Xia Nuan didn't refuse: "Okay then."
The two walked out of the house side by side.
The pristine air in the village was incredibly fresh. Wen Xia Nuan took a deep breath and waved her hands, "Aside from the bustle of the day, it's so quiet at night."
"Huo Jue, do you know?"
Wen Xia Nuan raised her head and glanced at the starry night: "When I leave here and return to Beijing, I will inexplicably miss this place."
"Do you like it here?"
Huo Jue heard Wen Xia Nuan's words and glanced at her: "If you like this place, I'll take you here for vacation when I have time."
"OK."
Wen Xia Nuan nodded, and the two of them arrived at the door while chatting and laughing.
"You go back first."
Wen Xia Nuan stood where she was and waved at him: "See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
Huo Jue turned and walked towards home, but he didn't expect to hear a voice halfway: "Is that Huo Jue?"
Huo Zhiguo limped in front of Huo Jue on crutches: "Ajue, please save me!"
"Xiaobo, what's wrong with you?"
Huo Jue saw him staying awake late at night, running around with a cane, and asked in surprise, "Where's your aunt? Doesn't she take care of you?"
"Ajue, stop talking! Your aunt smashed my leg with a hammer."
"Can you take me to see the captain? I really can't live like this anymore."
"Uncle, I can't help you with this!"
"If my aunt knew about this, would I still be able to live a peaceful life?"
Huo Jue's eyes swept over Huo Zhiguo, and Huo Zhiguo's face fell: "Huo Jue, you can't just ignore me. Even if you don't take me to see the captain, at least take me back to the old house."
Huo Zhiguo wailed, but Huo Jue did not stop.
The next day, early morning.
A scream pierced the sky.
Li Xing's eyes trembled as he looked at Huo Zhiguo: "Someone, come quickly!"
"What's wrong?"
Suddenly, many people appeared on the road, but when they saw Huo Zhiguo lying in the middle of the road, they all started talking at once.
"What's going on?"
"Is Huo Zhiguo dead?"
"Who among you is brave enough? Go and try to smell his breath!"
Everyone, look at me, I look at you.
It was the captain in the crowd who came out and reached out to touch Huo Zhiguo's breath.
“Dead, dead!”
The captain's words instantly caused an uproar in the crowd.
"Huo Zhiguo was fine, how could he die?"
"Where's Li Meiren? Where did she go?"
"Captain, something happened."
Not far away, another voice was heard.
The captain looked over, gasped, and said, "Captain, there's a long trail of blood running through Huo Zhiguo's house!"
"The courtyard door was not closed, so I pushed it open out of curiosity and took a look. To my surprise, there was no one inside!"
"That Li Mei is nowhere to be found."
As he spoke, his eyes fell on the people around him: "What's wrong?"
"Why do you all look so inexplicable?"
"Look who's lying there!"
The man looked over there out of curiosity, but was so frightened that he collapsed on the ground: "This, this..."
"Why did Huo Zhiguo die?"
His trembling voice came, and the captain said again: "Let's call the police immediately. The murderer is probably Li Mei."
"Also, one of you should go to Huo Jue's house and tell him that something happened to his uncle."
After receiving the news, Huo Jue hurried to the village committee.
The police were also taking statements. When Huo Jue appeared, the captain waved at him and said, "Huo Jue, come here quickly!"
"Did you see your uncle yesterday?"
Huo Jue nodded and told his uncle everything he had said when he met him that night.
The police officer put away the notebook and looked at Huo Jue: "Okay, we have understood the details clearly. If my guess is correct, Li Mei is the most suspicious."
"Don't worry, we will catch the murderer as soon as possible."
Huo Jue nodded to the police: "I'll trouble you from now on."
After sending the police away, the captain looked at Huo Jue and said, "Your uncle is gone now. Let's bury him in peace. Don't dwell on what happened in the past!"
"I know, Captain."
Huo Jue pursed his lips, his expression grim: "Where is my uncle's body?"
