Chapter 5 Does it hurt?

Wen Xia Nuan was stunned and glanced at Huo Jue, wondering how he had brought the topic to her.

Huo Jue's expectant eyes were always on Wen Xia Nuan. When he didn't hear her voice, he looked very lonely: "Wen Zhiqing, I said something wrong. It's okay if you don't answer. I'll go make you some food."

Huo Jue's lost figure was about to flee. Wen Xia Nuan saw it and her heart softened. She blurted out, "Huo Jue, you're fine."

Huo Jue paused, the corners of his mouth curled up, and a joyful voice came over: "Wen Zhiqing, wait a minute, I'll have the meal ready soon!"

He straightened his back and ran out. Wen Xia Nuan saw it and couldn't help but chuckle.

This Huo Jue is more interesting than she imagined. Although he looks cold and ignores everyone on the surface, he is actually warm-hearted.

She sat on the kang, carefully took out a few bags of soil from the package and began to study them.

In the kitchen, Huo Jue opened the locked cabinet door of his grandmother and took out two eggs.

These days, eggs are a good thing, but no family is allowed to raise too many chickens. At most, they can raise five or six. Even a family like his, which is composed of landowners, dare not raise more than that. At most, they can raise three chickens, for fear of being dragged out and criticized again.

"Ajue, who told you to take the eggs?"

Grandma Huo walked in from outside at some point, her eyes falling on his hand: "Put it back!"

She saved these eggs to feed her little grandson who was studying in town!

Huo Jue was unwilling to do so. He held the two eggs in his hands and glanced at his grandmother. "Wen Zhiqing is living here now and has even paid for her food coupons. We can't feed her too badly, right? And your cough, grandma, you should also eat something good to replenish your body."

"My body isn't that precious, I need to eat eggs to nourish myself! Put them back and give them to your brother when he comes back!"

Grandma Huo rolled her eyes, exposing his innermost thoughts: "Don't think I don't know what you're thinking! Don't use me as a raft! Wen Zhiqing is from the big city, he's eaten all kinds of delicious food, why would you need to use a few eggs to make a face?"

"Put the eggs back!"

If it were any other time, Huo Jue would have put the eggs back long ago, but Wen Xia Nuan happened to move in, and he didn't want to appear too shabby in front of her. What's more, these chickens were caught by him from the mountain.

Huo Jue took a large bowl and cracked two eggs into it. Grandma Huo saw this and her face turned blue with anger: "Okay, okay, you've really grown arrogant! You don't even listen to what I say!"

Grandma Huo couldn't control Huo Jue anymore, so she simply turned around and walked out of the kitchen: "You guys eat dinner, I'm not eating anymore!"

Huo Jue paused while beating the eggs. He glanced at the eggs in the bowl and then added water to beat them as if nothing had happened.

Wisps of smoke drifted out of the chimney. Huo Jue was burning wood. When he smelled the aroma of egg custard wafting out of the pot, he couldn't help swallowing.

Two bowls of golden egg custard were freshly baked in the pot. He quickly picked up a bowl and walked towards his grandmother's room: "Grandma, it's time to eat."

Huo Jue knocked on the closed door, his palms red from the hot bowl of egg custard in his hand.

"Grandma, I'll put the egg custard at the door, remember to eat it."

He put down the things in his hand, turned around and walked out, but he didn't expect the door to open at this moment. Old Mrs. Huo was standing at the door. She took a look at the egg, and her anger rose. She picked up the crutch in her hand and hit Huo Jue.

There was a thud, and Huo Jue groaned. Old Mrs. Huo dropped her cane and looked at him breathlessly: "You don't even listen to me, and you still care about my life or death! This egg custard..."

"You've been coughing a lot at night lately. Eat some eggs to replenish your body. As for the eggs I used, I will go to the mountains to find more."

He looked at the old lady with a wooden face, and without caring about his grandmother's attitude, he turned and left.

In Wen Xia Nuan's room, Huo Jue walked in with food. She took a look and casually pointed at the table: "Put it there. I'll eat it later."

Huo Jue watched her busy with the mud in her hands, but just stood there blankly without saying a word.

Wen Xia Nuan turned around and saw him still holding the food and staring at her with a wronged look on his face. She frowned and asked, "What's wrong with your shoulder?"

Huo Jue then put down the food: "It's okay, Wen Zhiqing, let's eat first."

[The male lead is mute, and the female lead is asking him, "Why don't you know how to behave well in such a good opportunity?"]

[That old lady Huo is really stingy! Huo Jue cooked two eggs just to nourish her and the heroine, and yet she still beat him up!]

[Who made the second male lead's father not love him and his mother not care for him?! The family also supports a younger brother to go to school, so naturally, everything good should be given to the younger one!]

[This isn't even for the second male lead, yet he still gets beaten. I really pity him!]

Wen Xia Nuan watched the barrage of comments reappear. She didn't choose to eat first, but instead took out the medicine for bruises from her package: "This is for you."

Huo Jue was stunned, his eyes falling on the white and tender hand.

"Don't just stand there, go ahead."

Huo Jue didn't move. Wen Xia Nuan pressed the medicinal wine for bruises into his hands and said, "You don't have to cook so well in the future. I'll eat whatever you guys eat. You don't have to bring it to my room."

Wen Xia Nuan saw the egg custard on the table. She knew that eggs were a rare commodity and many families were reluctant to eat them, so she thought of saving them to exchange for other things.

She hadn't explained it clearly, and now, looking at the bruise on his shoulder, she added, "Sit down and eat with me."

"No, no need."

Huo Jue waved his hand to refuse, but Wen Xia Nuan stopped him: "I can't finish so much, don't waste it!"

He was still hesitating, but Wen Xia Nuan grabbed the corner of his clothes and walked forward.

Huo Jue was like a puppet in Wen Xia Nuan's hands, following her blankly. The two of them sat on chairs, and Wen Xia Nuan poured almost the entire bowl of egg custard on him: "Eat!"

The golden egg custard accompanied with white rice was a delicacy that Huo Jue had never dared to imagine. Now it was placed in front of him, and his hungry stomach was rumbling.

Wen Xia Nuan looked at him and urged, "Try it quickly."

Huo Jue watched her eat the food in small bites, while he picked up the bowl and started eating in big mouthfuls.

After finishing the meal, Wen Xia Nuan burped. She didn't expect Huo Jue's cooking to be so delicious.

"Please sit down first."

Before Huo Jue could react, she poured the bottle of medicinal wine on the table onto his shoulder.

Wen Xia Nuan's white and tender hand touched his shoulder, causing the man's shoulder blade to curl up unconsciously.

"Does it hurt?"

Wen Xia Nuan's eyes fell on his shoulder. Huo Jue felt as if a feather had brushed against his shoulder. He said in a hoarse voice, "It doesn't hurt."
