Chapter 237 It’s all about the law of the jungle, unfairness
The leader of the Dark Night Clan knew he was in the wrong and did not get angry when faced with Ophelia's questioning.
Instead, Chuck, who was standing behind him, was a little displeased. "We're here to talk to the White Tiger King. What right do you, a little female, have to speak?"
As soon as he said this, the atmosphere in the room changed immediately.
Taylor stood in front of Ophelia, and Klein, who had been leaning against the wall, also stood up straight.
Zeref's face turned even colder, his eyes as cold as ice as he stared at Chuck.
"What qualifications do I have? I was the one who brought out the incandescent light bulb and the garlic."
"What? That thing is yours?" Chuck was incredulous.
The leader of the Dark Night Clan also looked at the little female in front of him again.
"Our princess is from the fifth family of the Holy City and is also the patriarch of our Fu tribe." Taylor stepped forward to reveal Ophelia's identity.
Chuck's surprise grew stronger and stronger.
He glanced at the several males in the room. They were all very powerful, but they were willing to be under a small female.
And he made this little female the patriarch!
"Before we talk, Chief of the Dark Night Clan, I want to ask if my daughter is okay?"
Although she heard that Wendy recognized the Dark Night Clan leader as her father after she lost her memory, she didn't know what the Dark Night Clan leader's attitude towards his daughter was.
"Wendy is very good. Ale and I like her very much. We definitely haven't treated her unfairly."
"Humph, not only did they treat the clan leader well, they almost worshipped her." Chuck was indignant.
Ophelia glanced at Chuck. "Leader of the Night Tribe, if your people still maintain this attitude, I don't think there's any need for us to continue this discussion."
"you."
"Chuck, you go out first." The leader of the Dark Night Clan raised his hand and gestured.
Chuck was unwilling, but the Dark Night Clan leader's eyes were full of pressure, so he could only obediently guard outside the door.
Without the annoying people, the atmosphere in the room became much more relaxed.
Ophelia smiled. "Thank you, Chief of the Dark Night Tribe, for taking care of Wendy. When she returns, I'll give her five green crystals as a token of my gratitude."
The Dark Night Tribe leader smiled grimly. "Wendy is very cute. Even without these crystals, I wouldn't hurt her."
"Okay, then let's get down to business." Ophelia restrained the smile on her face and looked serious.
"Has the Dark Night Clan leader investigated why our White Tiger Clan members became puppets?"
The Dark Night Tribe leader nodded. "Chuck was wrong in this matter. When the Great Elder asked him for some poison, he gave it to him without thinking twice."
"I didn't expect it would cause such a big mess for the White Tiger Clan."
"We can hand over the antidote and restore your people to normal."
Ophelia and Klein didn't expect the truth to be like this. Even now, the Great Elder dared to hide it from them.
"So, the White Tiger Clan puppet matter has nothing to do with you."
"Although this matter is caused by the Great Elder, we also have responsibilities." The Dark Night Clan leader did not deny that they were also responsible.
"Thank you, Chief of the Dark Night Tribe. However, our people saw with their own eyes that Chuck sucked the blood of his companions. What do you say about this matter?"
"Chuck sucked human blood? That's impossible." The Dark Night Clan leader immediately retorted.
"What's impossible? The bodies of those tribesmen haven't been dealt with yet. If you want to see them, I can bring them away now."
The Dark Night Clan leader said coldly, "No need."
"Chuck, come in."
Although Chuck was outside, he could still hear the conversation in the house.
"I did this, Chief."
The Dark Night Clan leader was heartbroken. "Why did you do this?"
He knew since birth that the Dark Night Clan lived by sucking blood and feared the sunlight because they were cursed.
He hated this way of living, so after he ascended the throne, he strictly forbade his tribesmen to suck blood and required them to feed on the blood of prey.
But he never expected that the most trusted male around him would actually obey his orders.
"Chief, the reason why we, the Dark Night tribe, need crystals to provide energy is because we don't drink human blood."
"I found that my strength increased faster after drinking human blood." Chuck said confidently, and he didn't think there was anything wrong with what he did.
The Dark Night Clan leader's eyes widened in shock. "Chuck, you actually thought that? You knew that such an action would shorten your lifespan, so why did you still do it?"
"Chief, this world is a world of the jungle. If you are weak, you will be bullied. We don't have much time to live, so why should we live in such a miserable way?" Chuck didn't have any regrets.
Ophelia and others looked at the scene in front of them, not sure whether the two were acting or the Dark Night Clan leader really didn't know about this.
"You, you."
The Dark Night Tribe leader closed his eyes. "It's my fault for not taking good care of my people in this matter, little female. I apologize."
He stood up and bowed to Ophelia.
Chuck felt heartbroken when he saw his most respected patriarch bowing to a little female for his own reasons.
He clenched his fists. "Chief, this was my own doing. It has nothing to do with you."
"If you want an explanation, I'll give you my life." Chuck's hands turned into sharp claws, grabbed his chest directly, and pulled out his heart.
"Chuck." The Dark Night Clan leader was caught off guard and his eyes turned red when he saw the still beating heart.
"Chief, I was wrong about this."
"Ophelia has already given her life to you, please don't kill all the Dark Night Clan." Chuck knelt on the ground and pleaded in a low voice.
Ophelia looked at him with an uncertain expression.
For a moment she didn't know what to say.
Chuck closed his eyes without waiting for her answer. The Dark Night Clan leader was heartbroken and hugged her in his arms.
Although Chuck is not his biological son, he has kept Chuck by his side since he was a child and has long regarded him as his own son.
"The Dark Night Tribe leader is here to ask you. He taught us that our tribesmen need his blood to detoxify." Klein showed no emotion at all about Chuck's suicide.
Those who do wrong should be punished.
So many members of the White Tiger tribe became neither human nor ghost because of his poison.
Now he only paid with his life as atonement, which was too cheap for him.
A tear fell from the corner of the Dark Night Clan leader's eye. "I can hand Chuck over to you, but please leave his body intact."
At this point, Chuck also sacrificed his life to atone for his sins.
He couldn't stop Taylor and the others from using Chuck's blood to detoxify, but he still hoped to give Chuck a last bit of dignity.
"Okay, I promise."
Taylor and Klein then moved Chuck out of the stone house.
Half an hour later, all the puppets of the White Tiger Tribe drank the antidote that came out of Chuck's body, and then everyone gradually regained consciousness.
"Chief."
"We're so glad you're okay, Chief." The tribesmen were overjoyed to see Klein safe and sound.
Klein looked at his tribesmen, who, even as puppets, were still thinking of him wholeheartedly. His nose felt sore and his eyes reddened.
"Thank you."
