Chapter 90: Can you please stop being angry?

Chapter 90: Can you please stop being angry?

Based on her understanding of her grandmother, calling someone out with a cold face to chat alone is definitely not a good thing.

Shi Huai tiptoed to the door and eavesdropped.

As expected, what I heard was my grandmother's stern criticism.

"Shi Huai is a simple-minded person, are you the same?"

"I handed Shi Huai over to you, and this is how you protect her?"

Zhou Jibai spoke in a low voice, without any rebuttal or explanation, and directly admitted his mistake: "It's my fault. I frightened Shi Huai this time."

"Fortunately, God blessed her and the child this time, and they are safe and sound." Shi Langyue closed her eyes and couldn't imagine where Shi Huai got the courage to go up to the rooftop with her belly bulging and hit people with a brick.

Zhou Jibai hummed softly.

"Zhou Jibai, Shi Huai is my only child. If you can't take good care of her, just give her to me. I am old enough to support her and the child!" As she spoke, tears wet Shi Langyue's eyes.

Zhou Jibai clenched his fists tightly, veins popping out on the back of his hands. He said solemnly, "Grandma, give me another chance, and I will definitely protect her and keep her safe for the rest of her life."

Shi Langyue sighed lightly and ignored his words. She took out a red envelope from her pocket and stuffed it into Zhou Jibai's hand.

The heavy weight of the red envelope made Zhou Jibai subconsciously want to push it away, but when he looked into Shi Langyue's serious eyes, he stopped moving his hands.

"I know your Zhou family isn't short of money, but this is the money I'm paying for nutritional supplements for my granddaughter and great-grandson. I'm not doing this for show in front of you."

Zhou Jibai said respectfully, "Yes, you are right."

Shi Langyue didn't go in to see Shi Huai again, nor did she say anything more to Zhou Jibai, and left. Zhou Jibai sent her all the way to the hospital entrance, and asked the driver to take the old lady back personally before leaving.

Shi Huai heard every word her grandmother scolded Zhou Jibai. She sat in the rocking chair by the floor-to-ceiling window waiting for Zhou Jibai to come back.

Through the bright and clean windows, Shi Huai can take in the entire hospital scenery.

The window of her VIP ward was right outside the hospital's tree garden. The weather in Guangnan was warm, and even in December the trees had completely withered. The yellowed branches and leaves looked like they were dyed with colors by the dusk, and it was a spectacular sight.

It's afternoon now, and there are quite a few people walking downstairs.

Just when Shi Huai was still wondering why Zhou Jibai hadn't come back yet, he moved his gaze and saw a very familiar figure sitting under the banyan tree in deep thought.

The Guangnan Hospital where she is currently admitted is also the hospital where she and the blind man met.

Shi Huai was slightly stunned, his hands climbed up to the glass window, and his heart couldn't help but tighten.

The man sitting under the banyan tree raised his head slightly again. Although the distance was a bit far, Shi Huai could still vaguely recognize that the person sitting under the banyan tree was Zhou Jibai.

The overlapping figures of Zhou Jibai and the blind man who had occupied his sixteenth summer made Shi Huai a little dazed, and a bold idea popped up in his mind.

But the thought was fleeting. She bit her lip, feeling that her idea was a bit too far-fetched, too fantastical. How could such a coincidence happen in the world? Besides, Zhou Jibai had never been blind; she had never heard anyone mention it.

Recalling the memories of old friends here now is disrespectful to Zhou Jibai. She should cut her losses in time.

Shi Huai collected his thoughts, took a deep breath, took out his cell phone and called Zhou Jibai.

Through the glass window, she watched Zhou Jibai quickly take out his phone and click the answer.

But Zhou Jibai didn't say anything, his expression remained cold and tense, as if he was waiting for her to speak first before he was willing to respond.

"Honey, I want to eat mangosteen. But the shell is so hard to peel. Can you come over and help me peel it?" Shi Huai made up an excuse.

Zhou Jibai hung up the phone without saying a word.

In Shi Huai's eyes, he immediately stood up and ran towards the ward after hanging up the phone.

After Shi Huai hung up the phone, he immediately slipped back into bed and lay down, waiting for Zhou Jibai to appear.

There was a noise at the door. Shi Huai tilted his head and smiled sweetly at the person at the door. He patted the empty space beside the bed and took the initiative to invite: "Baby, would you like to share the double bed room with me?"

Zhou Jibai stopped where he was and did not continue walking towards her. The sudden burning sensation in his ears made his whole body stiff.

Another foul.

Seeing that Zhou Jibai still didn't move, Shi Huai flirted with him again: "You're still angry, little darling."

Zhou Jibai turned his face away and ignored her.

He walked to the bed and took out the mangosteen from the fruit basket and peeled it.

Shi Huai ate the mangosteen flesh handed to her by Zhou Jibai with lukewarm attitude. She could never adapt to the dull atmosphere in the room and Zhou Jibai who never said a word.

"Don't be angry, okay?"

Shi Huai's gentle and proactive gestures did not completely calm Zhou Jibai down.

Zhou Jibai: "Take a nap."

As he said this, he tucked the quilt in for Shi Huai.

A look of loneliness passed through Shi Huai's eyes.

These past few days, Zhou Jibai has been in a cold war with himself.

She even missed Zhou Jibai's sharp tongue.

She could barely tolerate Zhou Jibai, who loved to argue with others. At least most of the time, Zhou Jibai was just trying to make her happy.

She doesn't like the cold Zhou Jibai.

Zhou Jibai glanced at Shi Huai who had fallen asleep, then leaned back in his chair lazily and relaxedly, letting out a long breath.

He rubbed his eyebrows in annoyance.

When Shi Huai looked at him with those bright eyes, his heart beat violently and he almost blurted out the word "good".

Logically speaking, since Shi Huai personally gave him a way out, he should have taken it.

But he could sense that his wife was as cunning as a fox, using seductive tactics to try to get him to submit.

If he easily forgives Shi Huai every time, he will still do dangerous things like the rash action he did that day.

The cold war was also a torment for him. He would feel soft-hearted whenever he saw Shi Huai's face.

Zhou Jibai hadn't slept well these past few days, often waking up from his dreams. The first thing he did when he opened his eyes was to check on Shi Huai beside him. Only when he confirmed that he was still beside him, sleeping soundly, could he feel a little relieved.

The atmosphere around Shi Huai was quiet and peaceful. Zhou Jibai's eyelids felt heavy and he fell asleep soon.

When he opened his eyes again, the ward was empty and he was the only one there.

Zhou Jibai's mind went blank, his brows furrowed, and he immediately got out of bed to look for Shi Huai.

Going to the bathroom?

Not in the toilet.

He searched the ward thoroughly but still couldn't find Shi Huai!

Panic spread in Zhou Jibai's heart, and he was going crazy.

How come he disappeared without a word again!

I took out my cell phone and immediately called Shi Huai, but I caught a glimpse of Shi Huai sitting under the big banyan tree in a daze through the floor-to-ceiling window.

Zhou Jibai frowned and immediately went downstairs to look for her.

Shi Huai wore a hospital gown, her hair tied into a casual side braid that fell along her left shoulder, just below her chest. She was as pretty and elegant as apricot blossoms in the warm spring, but her face wore a hint of worry, and she would sigh softly from time to time.

Just as she was thinking about what to do to make Zhou Jibai happier, her shoulders suddenly sank and warmth enveloped her whole body.

Shi Huai looked up and saw Zhou Jibai with a stern face and sinister eyes staring at him.

He didn't say much, just covered her with a blanket and turned away.

Shi Huai blinked his eyes in confusion, but he did not dare to be negligent. He wrapped himself in a blanket and followed Zhou Jibai's steps.

"Wait for me."

The tall man in front of her didn't intend to pay attention to her, but he slowed down his pace, fearing that the woman behind him would stumble.

"husband!"

"Zhou Jibai!"

"If you're angry, I'm going to be angry too!"
