"Hurry up!" Chunyu shouted.
"Running down the mountain won't help." Xiao Si looked around, then pulled Si Si into a cave on the left. By the time the three of them entered the cave, the snow had already covered everything.
A lot of snow rushed in through the cave entrance. Sisi breathed a sigh of relief, but suddenly felt a gaze fixed on her. She took two steps back and bumped into Xiaosi's arms.
"Don't move, there's something behind you."
Chunyu clearly noticed it too, and dared not move.
They didn't know what kind of territory they had accidentally wandered into. Sisi pursed her lips and quietly turned her head. In the darkness of the cave, a pair of blood-red eyes were filled with terror.
"It has red eyes," Sisi whispered.
Xiao Si held her breath and carefully sensed the breathing inside for a long time before whispering, "It's a snake, a thousand-year-old red venomous snake, a female, incubating eggs."
What should we do?
Spring Rain's voice trembled slightly. There was no way forward or backward; they couldn't just stay stuck here forever, could they?
Before we could get an answer, there was a sudden noise inside. The snake came out, swimming very slowly and constantly flicking its tongue, which was quite torturous in the current environment.
None of the three moved. No one knew if she would suddenly attack them when she came out. This snake had cultivated for a thousand years and had long since become a spirit. They had also broken into her nest and disturbed her incubation of eggs.
Reflected in the snow, Sisi could see its appearance clearly: a snake as tall as a person, with a triangular head, scarlet eyes, and incredibly sharp teeth.
"It's over."
Chunyu closed his eyes; he was the closest to her.
But the snake showed no intention of eating him; instead, it swam towards Sisi. Xiaosi pointed his sword at it and said coldly, "Step back."
It stopped, flicking its tongue as it looked at Sisi. "You smell like my sister. Is she with you? Was she born yet?"
Sisi looked confused. "I didn't take your sister."
“You smell like her.” It was very stubborn. “I won’t hurt you, but I’ve been looking for my sister for a long time. Tell her to come out and see me.”
"What does your sister look like?" Xiao Si asked.
She shook the snake's head. "When I left, it was still an egg."
Egg?
Sisi suddenly remembered that the centipede demon in Fog City had given her an egg, which she then gave to Little Gem after she emerged from the Book of Phenomena.
It now seems that Little Gem was happy to accept the egg because it met someone of its own kind.
"That egg is in Wanbaoshan, no..."
“It’s in your purse,” it interrupted her.
Sisi was taken aback. Sure enough, she found the egg in the pouch. This pouch was prepared by her senior brother. Could it be that he even guessed this?
The moment she took the egg out, the shell cracked completely, and a red snake crawled out.
The mother snake was very excited, and the little snake recognized her. The two snakes happily intertwined.
The avalanche outside had stopped, and just as the three were digging a hole to leave, the mother snake suddenly called out to them.
“Let my sister come with you, and I’ll tell you how to get up the mountain.”
Chunyu was somewhat shocked. They had turned misfortune into a blessing just like that? This... this was too easy.
After the mother snake said goodbye to the baby snake, the baby snake wrapped itself around Sisi's arm. The mother snake then broke open the hole, revealing the sky outside. "What you see may not be real. Truth and falsehood, falsehood and truth, are all in a single thought."
Sisi didn't understand what these words meant, so she didn't explain further and went back into the cave.
"Could she be saying the snow-capped mountain is fake?"
Sisi grabbed a handful of snow, which was icy cold, and then hopped around on the spot.
"It's absolutely true."
“Look there.” Chunyu pointed to a spot, and Sisi’s eyes widened instantly.
A small snowdrift appeared in the area that had been covered by the avalanche, with a bit of fabric peeking out from it. The fabric was exactly the same as the clothes that Long'er was wearing.
"This time it should be Long'er, right?" Chunyu was still a little scared, this scene was clearly the same as before.
Sisi looked up at Xiaosi, who shook her head. "It's not Long'er, it should still be that ferret. Don't move."
The three of them walked away from the ferret and went uphill. After a long while, when they could no longer see the snowdrift, Sisi rubbed her eyes and it reappeared right in front of her.
Moreover, the footprints they left behind have disappeared.
Sisi looked to her left and saw that the hole was still there, which meant they had returned to where they were before.
"We're back..."
Chunyu swallowed nervously. "This is so strange. How long have we been gone? You can't possibly still be stuck in the same place. Could we have encountered a ghost wall?"
What is "being trapped in a maze"?
"It's not a ghost wall."
Sisi looked at Xiaosi, and he said again, "It should be a limitation. If I'm not mistaken, no matter how far we go, we'll come back here, unless..."
“Unless you dig through that snowdrift.” Sisi bit her finger. “I think I understand, but if you don’t dodge an avalanche, you’ll die, but if you do dodge, you’ll be stuck in a cycle.”
"So the key is the avalanche."
Chunyu glanced at Xiaosi. "You mean we have to let an avalanche bury us? No, that's too dangerous."
It is indeed dangerous. No one knows whether being buried by an avalanche will result in death, but the current situation is a dead end. They cannot leave this place, let alone go up the mountain.
The only thing that has changed is the avalanche.
"How about this, my junior brother and I will give it a try. You hide in the cave, and we'll hold onto the rope so you can rescue us."
Sisi conjured a long rope, and Chunyu pursed her lips. After a moment, she made up her mind, "Forget it, let's go together and give it a try."
He stepped forward and dug through the snowdrift, and there was the ferret inside. Just like before, it chuckled and ran away.
Then came the avalanche.
Xiao Si grabbed Si Si's hand and asked, looking down, "Are you scared?"
"I'm not afraid."
The heavy snow buried them, but the expected cold did not come. The three of them shivered slightly, and the snow-capped mountain in front of them turned into an ordinary mountain.
A verdant landscape, filled with birdsong and the fragrance of flowers.
You guessed right.
Sisi gave Xiaosi a thumbs up, "Junior brother is really amazing."
"No," Xiao Si said, a little embarrassed.
Chunyu smiled slightly, "Senior brother is indeed quite clever. It seems that we will have to rely on senior brother if we want to get out of the illusory mirror."
Sisi nodded in complete agreement.
"No, I..."
Before they could finish speaking, a roar suddenly came from the woods, like the sound of an animal in pain. The three of them quickly exchanged a glance and headed into the woods.
"You beast, you dare steal my things!"
Upon hearing the sound, the three rushed over and saw the scene before them. Their faces turned pale as they witnessed Long'er killing a wild wolf.
The Snow Woman said that one must not harm the animals in the mountains.
Long'er had clearly forgotten, and was still wiping the blood off her sword. When she saw them, she greeted them disdainfully, "You guys really took a long time to arrive."
“Turn around,” Sisi pointed behind her.
