Chapter 77: A resounding victory.

When Sun Changjing arrived at the gate of the mansion, he could hear their shouts from afar, "Sir, please save us common people! Some people have already starved to death."

"Open the granaries and distribute the grain, sir!"

"Help us! Help us!"

Xu Zhenzhen said, "Sir, what should we do with these people outside? We don't have any grain in our granary."

They are all his own people, and Sun Changjing cannot stand by and watch them starve to death. He turned to You Rong and said.

"Rong'er, have a few capable maids cook some coarse rice from our mansion and distribute it at the entrance as porridge."

"What about us? We'll run out of food."

A resolute glint flashed in Sun Changjing's eyes. "I'll go and seize the grain. Don't worry, I will never let you go hungry. This grain was originally stolen from us by the Xiongnu, and we should take it back!"

You Rong covered her face and wept, "Knowing it was dangerous, you still went. If anything were to happen to you, I..."

"No, with Sisi's reminder, I'm sure I'll win big." Sun Changjing looked at Sisi, "Sisi, Daddy will win, right?"

Knowing that her father was stealing food to feed them, Sisi was moved to tears. "Yes, Father, don't confront them head-on. Go find a cave; the food is hidden there."

Father is a good man; he will surely be safe.

"Okay, Dad will listen to Sisi."

Sun Changjing placed his hopes on Sisi, believing in his own abilities as well as Sisi's.

"Set off!"

You Rong led her men to distribute porridge outside the mansion, while Sun Changjing's troops quietly sneaked into the area where the Xiongnu were stationed.

He had inquired beforehand and learned that the Xiongnu only numbered a few hundred, but just in case, he brought nearly a thousand men with him.

"My lord, they are all behaving extremely lazily. It seems they are deliberately trying to lure us there!" Their troops were lying prone on a mountain peak not far from the Xiongnu.

With a growing sense of vigilance, Xu Zhenzhen felt that the Xiongnu had ulterior motives no matter how he looked at them. He even suspected that they had dug a pit in front of the felt tent and were waiting for them to jump in.

Sun Changjing stared at the felt tent, presumably the bag Sisi had mentioned. The curtain was not closed, and the color of the burlap sacks inside could be clearly seen.

It seems they were deliberately lured over there.

"Send one team to find the cave. Once they find the grain, they should immediately carry it away. Another team should go around to the rear, while the third team should stay here and guard the area. Once they get the grain, they should immediately launch rockets!"

Caught in a pincer attack, it's a desperate gamble; whether they can get the grain depends on this one battle.

Sun Changjing's voice was authoritative: "We must succeed, do you understand? We bear the lives of the people of Wuzhou on our shoulders; we cannot fail!"

"Yes, sir!!!"

"Brother, do you think the city lord of Wuzhou will fall for the trap?" Inside the felt tent, a Xiongnu subordinate asked a man with a braided hairstyle sitting at a low table.

The man had a full beard, quite different from the people of Qingyuan, and his whole being exuded rudeness.

“They will definitely fall for it. Anyone with eyes can see the grain in the felt tent. Besides, they don’t expect us to move the grain to the cave. So many people in Wuzhou have starved to death. They will definitely come to steal it.”

If you try to steal it, you'll fall into their trap.

His subordinates fawned, "Brother, what a brilliant plan!"

"Hahahaha." The man laughed loudly and raised his glass. "Drink up, let's wait for them."

He set up countless traps outside, and to the east was a net of pits filled with countless horizontal blades, so that anyone who fell in would be cut in half.

There is a large net to the west, and a group of guards are hiding there. If they are captured, they will be shot to death with arrows.

The terrain to the south is unique, with huge rocks lying in ambush on the mountains. As soon as they stepped onto the path, huge rocks rolled down, and they could only be smashed!

Meanwhile, their men in the north were guarding the city, and no matter which direction the city lord's men came from, they were doomed to die.

Before he could even swallow his drink, a loud shout rang out from outside, "Brother, fire!"

puff--!

The man nearly choked, slamming his hand on the table. "What happened?! How could it catch fire for no reason?"

"They're here. There's a team on a mountain peak not far away. They're not coming down; they keep firing rockets!"

"How is this possible?" The man couldn't believe it. His men were so lax in their guard. Shouldn't he have taken advantage of the situation and killed the man?

Xu Zhenzhen's rockets caught the Xiongnu off guard. The felt tents were made of wool, and the fire started instantly. Some people didn't even have time to escape, and cries for help filled the air.

The main force was on fire, and the east, west, and south forces were anxious to come to their aid. However, they forgot that they had set a trap. In their haste, their own men fell into the trap they had set, resulting in heavy losses.

"Madman, madman!"

The man thought those people were crazy. There was plenty of food in there; didn't they want it too?

The fire grew larger and larger, and the Xiongnu were unable to resist and had to retreat. What they never expected was that Sun Changjing's men were also behind them.

"Sir, there's an ambush behind us!"

The man swayed and almost lost his balance.

"Run! Run up the mountain! Split up and run!"

Unfortunately, Sun Changjing's men saw through their plan and pressed their advantage, defeating them soundly and forcing them to hide everywhere. In the end, they still fell into Sun Changjing's hands.

The man spat defiantly, "Treacherous! As expected, you people from Qingyuan are all treacherous villains!"

Sun Changjing kicked him, "You're allowed to use tricks but we're not? Come to think of it, you Xiongnu are more treacherous. You even steal the people's grain. Bah!"

"We didn't cheat!"

He stubbornly refused to admit it, and Sun Changjing, too lazy to waste words with him, sneered, "We already knew the sacks in your yurts were straw, what are you pretending for? Aren't you just waiting for us to deliver them to your door?"
