In the Du family courtyard.
As soon as I entered the yard, I saw a young man in his twenties, with a fair and clean appearance, very gentle, wearing a long gray cloth gown that was washed to a pale color, and patched cloth shoes on his feet. He was sitting on the railing under the corridor, holding a bamboo flute in his hand. He looked like a leisurely traveler, with a temperament of watching the ups and downs of life with a smile.
In front of him stood a naive girl who looked about ten years old. She looked up at the young man stupidly. It seemed that there was only the young man in her slender eyes, and no room for anything else.
The young man reached out and touched the girl's head lovingly, smiling warmly: "Read, that's all you'll learn today."
Nian stared at the young man blankly for a long time before coming to his senses. He looked at the young man with some displeasure and asked, "Sir, are you going back again?"
The young man nodded with a smile and replied, "Yes, if Nian still wants to learn to play the flute, you can take this bamboo flute and learn first. When the teacher comes back, I will give you a new bamboo flute. How about that?"
Nian was stunned for a long time, her reaction was very slow.
He took the bamboo flute from the young man, slowly lowered his head to look at the flute in his hand, then slowly raised his head to look at the young man, and then slowly said: "Okay. How long will you be gone this time? It always takes a long time for you to come back."
Nian pouted sullenly, with a hint of resentment on his face.
Hearing this, the young man paused, his smile faltering slightly, his eyes wandering a little. "I don't know, but the master will come back as soon as possible to teach Nian to play the flute. Nian must listen to the other masters and not fight with others or get angry with me. Otherwise, the master won't teach Nian to play the flute, understand?"
The young man's tone was very soft, as if he was afraid of scaring Nian away, and every move he made was extremely gentle.
Nian was silent again, and after a long while, he replied with a short word: "Okay."
After receiving Nian's response, the young man smiled slightly and said, "Go back, it's time to practice martial arts."
Nian was silent for a long time before he smiled and said, "Goodbye, sir."
As soon as he finished speaking, Nian turned and left, holding the bamboo flute in his arms, with a satisfied expression as if he had found a treasure.
The young man watched Nian's slowly leaving back, and only withdrew his gaze after he completely disappeared around the corner. The casual and friendly aura on his body instantly turned into a cold and distant one. His voice was slightly cold: "You've been hiding for so long and you don't plan to come out?"
Wu Fang was hiding in the dark holding Ji Xingzhi. When he heard the young man say this, he frowned slightly in surprise, then cast a questioning look at Ji Xingzhi.
Ji Xingzhi was also extremely surprised by the young man's sudden transformation. This seemingly ordinary man seemed to have suddenly become a different person. Either he had schizophrenia or he had a hidden secret, but at the moment, the latter seemed more likely.
Recovering his thoughts, Ji Xingzhi nodded to Wu Fang and said, "Uncle Wu, put me down."
"Yes." Upon hearing this, Wu Fang carefully bent down to put Ji Xingzhi down, and then straightened Ji Xingzhi's wrinkled skirt.
Ji Xingzhi walked towards the young man, his face calm and composed, his tone surprisingly calm: "Is it tiring to live with a mask on?"
The young man was surprised to see that it was a man and a girl coming out. Suddenly, he heard Ji Xingzhi's words and his brows furrowed: "If you have any purpose, just go straight."
