Chapter 12 "Sister Shiyi".

Chapter 12 "Sister Shiyi".

Si Yue looked at him in disbelief, "You..."

Seemingly knowing what she was going to say, Xie Lin spoke in a neutral tone, sticking to the facts.

"You hit hard, leaving marks, you're in the wrong."

One sentence was enough to shut Si Yue up.

Okay.

Peng Zhi didn't hear their conversation. When she took the ice pack, she gave Si Yue a smug look.

It's getting late.

Originally, Song Shiyi and Si Yue were planning to return to school after finishing their meal, as they had a class at 2 PM.

Because of this delay, it seems impossible for me to get back in time.

So the two of them took leave immediately.

Song Shiyi was the top scorer in the college entrance examination. She had excellent grades and was also well-behaved and sensible. Her counselor approved her leave without asking any questions.

As for Si Yue, she was asked a few questions.

With Song Shiyi vouching for her, she passed smoothly.

They didn't care at all whether Peng Zhi would be disciplined for this.

They brought this on themselves.

Most of the customers had left the store. It's usually closed in the afternoon; it's the employees' break time.

So only they and their group remained in the store.

A midsummer afternoon is the perfect time for a nap.

Song Shiyi also had this habit. She covered her mouth and yawned, her eyes showing a hint of weariness.

I got home too late last night, and by the time I finished washing up and lay in bed it was almost 2 a.m.

There was another early morning rush, so she didn't get much sleep at all.

As drowsiness gradually crept in, she lowered her eyes, looking somewhat listless.

He Jinzhao noticed her expression and was about to say something when the police pushed the door open and entered.

He had no choice but to swallow back what he wanted to say and go to the police station with them.

There were too many people, and one vehicle couldn't accommodate them all.

The girls that Peng Zhi brought did not participate, so they did not need to go together; they were only given a verbal warning and then let go.

In the end, Xie Lin, Si Yue, and Peng Zhi rode in the same car.

He Jinzhao and Song Shiyi rode in the same car.

Si Yue originally wanted to be with her beloved turtle.

He was interrupted by the person next to him as he was about to speak.

"You want to be a third wheel?"

Si Yue choked, and said unconvinced, "...Who knows what your friend might do."

Xie Lin nodded and asked a question.

Where do we go now?

Si Yue looked at him strangely, "The police station."

What kind of transportation should we take?

"……police car."

Xie Lin raised an eyebrow. "So, what are you worried about?"

Si Yue: "..."

That makes a lot of sense.

Unable to refute.

In a fit of anger... she snapped.

She glanced at Song Shiyi, and seeing no sign of reluctance, she didn't say anything more.

However, she still glared at Xie Lin angrily, opened the car door, and got in.

Xie Lin shrugged indifferently and bent down to get into the car.

Meanwhile, inside another police car.

The car wasn't very spacious, and it felt a bit cramped. When the car went over a speed bump, it swayed slightly, and Song Shiyi's arm slid towards He Jinzhao due to inertia.

The scent of cedarwood mixed with the warmth wafted over from the boy, and she licked her lips, inexplicably feeling a bit dry in her mouth.

I guess I ate something too salty earlier.

She glanced over out of the corner of her eye and saw He Jinzhao leaning back in his chair, his eyes half-closed as if he were resting, but his hand hanging by his side moved slightly, his knuckles brushing against her forearm as if by accident.

The touch felt like an electric current. Song Shiyi abruptly looked away, her ear tips flushing red, and her cheeks burning.

She remembered that she had tripped over a pebble on the ground when she got on the bus, and He Jinzhao had reached out and caught her.

His hands were clasped behind her waist, his body heat seeping through the fabric, burning hot.

That was the first time she had been so close to a boy. Even Shen Yanci had only touched her head, and the distance between them had always been just right.

Looking back now, even my breathing becomes a little rapid.

"What are you thinking about?"

He Jinzhao's voice suddenly rang in my ears, with a lazy smile on his face.

Song Shiyi was so startled that her eyelashes trembled, and she turned her head to meet his open eyes.

The boy had already turned his head to the side, his long, narrow eyes curving with a smile, his breath brushing against her temples, causing a slight tingling sensation.

"Huh? You're ignoring me?"

He spoke very close to her, and Song Shiyi could see the small mole at the corner of his eye and smell the faint minty scent in his breath.

She opened her mouth to explain, but the words caught in her throat.

She forgot that she couldn't speak.

A hint of annoyance flashed in her eyes; she didn't know what was wrong with her.

Her earlobes turned uncontrollably red and hot, and she subconsciously lowered her eyes to avoid his gaze.

He Jinzhao chuckled as he looked at her, gently touching her burning earlobe with his fingertip: "Are you hot?"

"Sister Shiyi."

The touch was so light that Song Shiyi recoiled as if burned, but with the car door right behind her, she had nowhere to retreat and ended up pressing even closer to He Jinzhao.

She looked up instinctively, and her eyes met his.

There was a clear, distinct hint of teasing laughter within it.

Her heartbeat went off-beat, as if pulled by a thin thread. She instinctively wanted to raise her hand to press against her chest to cover up the palpitation.

She tilted her head slightly, concealing the unknown panic in her eyes.

That's strange.

She wanted to push the person away, but felt that it wouldn't be a good thing to do so.

They wanted to use sign language, so they were very close together that she would touch his body if she moved even slightly.

Now she dared not move at all.

At that moment, for the first time, she felt that being unable to speak was a terrible thing.

Song Shiyi's eyelashes were still trembling, her eyes were misty, and her lips were slightly parted, which made He Jinzhao's Adam's apple move.

He didn't move forward, his voice very low: "You don't dare look at me anymore?"

Song Shiyi shook her head and hurriedly looked out the window. A green shadow flashed past her eyes, just like the sound of her heartbeat, incredibly fast.

He Jinzhao looked at her tense back, his smile deepening. He deliberately moved closer to her, and the hormonal atmosphere in the air seemed to intensify.

It wasn't until Song Shiyi's shoulders started to stiffen that He Jinzhao slowly distanced himself from her, a clear smile playing on his lips.

"Next time you want to see me, you don't have to sneak around."

"It's not like I won't show it to you."

"After all, it's only natural to look at handsome men."

Song Shiyi's face turned completely red, and even the back of her neck felt hot. She could only bury her face even lower and dare not breathe too heavily.

She bit her lip, feeling as if there was something else mixed in with the air around her.

It makes you dizzy and causes your blood to rush to your head.

The lingering drowsiness I had was completely gone.

If you're going to talk, just talk. Why are you standing so close?

She just can't speak, not that she can't hear.

The naive little lamb had no idea that it had stepped into the big bad wolf's trap.

He Jinzhao looked at her reddened ear tips, her fingertips still warm from before, and chuckled softly, the tenderness in his eyes impossible to hide.

Ah, it seems like I've gone too far.

but--

The effect is good.

We need to work even harder.

Romantic R&B music played inside the car, adding a touch of ambiguity.

The police officer driving in front was so engrossed in the music that he was completely unaware of the undercurrents behind him.
