Chapter 15 Advanced Mathematics

Gao Ming looked at Wu Tong again. Children who love to study are always popular. She couldn't help but say, "Child, are you going to participate in a competition? If so, you don't have to buy them. Just walk down Renhe Avenue and you'll find the county library. They have these textbooks there. You can apply for a reading card with your ID card and borrow them directly!"

These are university textbooks. For students who only need them temporarily and will receive them when they go to university, buying them is not a very cost-effective thing. The library has comprehensive textbooks and it is easy to borrow them, so it is more suitable.

Wu Tong slapped her head. She was wrong. How could she forget about the library?

As the face of the county's culture, the library boasts a fairly extensive collection. While rare and exotic books may not be readily available, it does have a good selection of books covering a wide range of topics for the general public. Comrade Wu frequently borrows books on agriculture and machinery from the library. How could she have forgotten this?

It seemed like the teacher had once said that they could also borrow books from the library with their student ID cards.

Given her reading speed, buying it wasn't a wise decision. Her family's money came from her parents' hard work, so it was better to save as much as possible instead of wasting it unnecessarily.

Wu Tong sincerely thanked Gao Ming: "Thank you, Auntie!" She was really grateful to this auntie.

"Don't be polite. The textbooks you want are bought by very few people in the county, and the store doesn't have much in stock. My child is about the same age as you. If he could love learning as much as you do, I would be very happy!" Gao Ming waved her hand. She was just saying this casually.

Wu Tong left the house and turned back to where she was riding her bike. The library was on the other side of the same avenue as the First Highway, which was actually quite close to her home. The county library wasn't very large, a three-story building that also housed office space and a warehouse.

Wu Tong had been here before, but at that time he was just a small appendage of Comrade Wu. He came here purely for fun and would also take a look at some story picture books.

Wu Tong was also not very familiar with this place, so he went straight to the administrator for consultation as soon as he entered.

The library wasn't crowded; it was one of the few quiet places in the county. The administrator had a very leisurely schedule; most of the people who came were familiar faces, well-versed in the layout and their needs, so they were rarely needed. Their duties primarily involved registering books and keeping the place organized.

It was a rare occasion when someone came to ask, and the administrator was quite enthusiastic: "The advanced mathematics you want is on the third shelf in Area D. University mathematics and other mathematics are all in that area!"

Someone was reading in the library, and the two of them were talking quietly. Wu Tong followed the instructions, went to Area D, and found the textbook she wanted.

Advanced mathematics, analytic geometry, linear algebra... She took out the advanced mathematics course first and took a look. The content was quite profound. She had completed high school mathematics, but it seemed a bit difficult at first glance. If she wanted to fully understand it, she would probably need to enter a deep learning state to better study and understand it.

Wu Tong took three textbooks—analytic geometry, linear algebra, and advanced mathematics—to the registration desk. She had previously inquired about the book borrowing period, which was two weeks. Although there were still quite a few math books on the shelf in Section D, Wu Tong wasn't greedy. She'd first studied three, thoroughly understanding them before moving on to the others.

When she first started learning advanced mathematics, she gave herself more time and then adjusted her borrowing strategy based on her progress.

After leaving the library, Wu Tong couldn't help but use the side of a book to block the direct sunlight from the floor.

September was still a scorching summer, and she had just been going back and forth, driven by the desire to borrow books, and hadn't felt much. Now, emerging from the cool, shady library, the blazing sun was glaring.

Fortunately, theirs was the earliest one built, and the big trees on both sides of the road can block the sun, otherwise people would not have the courage to go out.

On the way, Wu Tong bought herself a popsicle to cool off; at that moment, she simply relished the refreshing taste. As far as she could remember, summer temperatures only grew hotter each year. She still needed to diligently practice the Chaoyang Ziqi technique, cultivating the state of being immune to cold and heat.

"Tongtong, you're back. Have you eaten?"

Wu Jingzhong heard the door open and leaned out of the kitchen. Teacher Jin Yu had a meeting before leaving work that morning and had just arrived home and was resting in the living room.

"Are you feeling hot? Sit down and cool down. Dad will open some watermelon for you to eat first!" He was on a day off from work today, so he went to the morning market to buy some small hanging watermelons and put them in a cool place in the room so that they would be refreshing when he ate them.

This small watermelon has a thin skin and sweet flesh. It is not difficult for one person to eat one. It is best to cut it in half and eat it with a spoon. Wu Tong has always liked it.

"Don't blow towards the air vent, or you'll get a headache!" Jin Yu reminded immediately. Wu Tong came back feeling hot and liked to stand in the air vent to cool down, which was the easiest way to get sick.

"I know!" Wu Tong took the watermelon her father handed her, scooped a bite, and then opened her wallet and handed the book money her parents had given her that morning back to Teacher Jin.

"Didn't you have time to go to the bookstore today? Take this and use it to buy books later!" Jin Yu handed the money back. The cost of her children's studies was the expense she cared least about.

"I was wrong. I can borrow the books I want from the library. A kind lady in the bookstore reminded me today about the library!" Wu Tong ate watermelon and waved her hand, asking her mother to take the money back. She found a more convenient place and didn't have to spend money.

"I've already borrowed it!"

After hearing Wu Tong's explanation, the couple clearly understood that their child had gone to the bookstore and then to the library. This meant their daughter had been running back and forth the entire time, leaving her no time to eat. Feeling sorry for her, Wu Jingzhong hurried to the kitchen to serve Wu Tong and Teacher Jin. He was home today, and he was the one cooking.

The couple had a good relationship and had always practiced a collaborative approach since their marriage, with laundry, cooking, cleaning, and shopping all done by whoever was more convenient. Wu Jingzhong's work was closer to home, and his schedule was more regular. Since Wu Tong was young, Wu Jingzhong had cooked more, and he developed excellent cooking skills.

Wu Jingzhong never shirks his responsibilities when it comes to household chores.

After dinner, Wu Tong chatted with his parents and then returned to his room, connected to the Enlightenment Stone Tablet, and entered a state of deep learning.

Wu Tong opened the advanced mathematics book she borrowed. It was the sixth edition of Tongji University, which was published two years ago. The first chapter caught Wu Tong's eye: Functions and Limits.
