Chapter 19: Explosion

Back to half an hour ago, Chen Qiusheng led Wu Tong into the office. There weren't many teachers on duty at the moment; the morning self-study teachers had all gone to the classrooms to supervise the class. The teachers who didn't need to supervise morning reading hadn't started yet, so the second-year science office was quiet.

Chen Qiusheng asked Wu Tong to wait for a moment, then handed her a math test paper and asked her to sit in his seat and do the test. With the idea of teaching Wu Tong a lesson, Chen Qiusheng found the test paper for this year's college entrance examination, which had just been released.

Information wasn't as readily available online as it would be later, and the Gaokao papers weren't readily available the moment the exams were over, making information resources easy to access. The one he held was a spare copy specially found by the senior class teacher for the current class to see.

This year's Gaokao was easier than previous years, with very basic questions. However, to do well, one must thoroughly master all the knowledge gained during the three years of high school. He wasn't deliberately trying to embarrass Wu Tong; he simply wanted her to understand that the Gaokao wasn't easy and didn't allow for any slacking.

Wu Tong took the paper and raised an eyebrow. "Gaokao?" She'd already done a lot of previous years' exams, so this year's wouldn't be a problem for her either. After a quick glance, she picked up her pen and began working on it.

For Wu Tong at the moment, basic questions were already within his grasp, with all the answers deduced in his mind and pen. In the office, the only sound that could be heard was the continuous sound of Wu Tong's pen, without any stuttering.

This made Chen Qiu Sheng very interested. This was really possible!

Whether or not a student can do it, the teacher can tell by their performance. He glanced forward. It's only been a few minutes? He's already finished the multiple-choice questions? The simple steps outlined on the scratch paper he provided proved Wu Tong wasn't just filling them out randomly.

Chen Qiusheng finally understood the astonishment of the two invigilators, Zhang and Liu, at this speed! If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would never have imagined that a student could solve the college entrance examination paper as if solving 1+1 was as simple as that!

Perhaps this is genius? True genius?

Chen Qiusheng was stunned for a moment, and when he came to his senses, Wu Tong had already handed him the test paper from last night. Chen Qiusheng checked the time and saw that only a little over twenty minutes had passed since he had given the child the test paper.

Chen Qiu Sheng was in a complicated mood. From last night to today, he had gone through so much trouble for this child!

He pulled out the answers he'd brought down with him and double-checked them. He got all the multiple-choice questions right, all the fill-in-the-blank questions right... and all the essay questions right. This meant Chen Qiusheng had a perfect score on the Gaokao! It seemed no one in the current senior year could match this speed and score!

It really made him see it!

Being able to achieve a perfect score on the college entrance exam through self-study, honestly, as a teacher, I have mixed feelings. Is the teacher useless, or is the student just too talented? He imagined that any teacher seeing such a situation would inevitably have some internal doubts.

······

With such results, and if other subjects are the same, keeping this child in the second year of high school is indeed a waste of his time!

After a moment's thought, he pulled another test paper from his desk. "Your full score is 150. You've mastered the knowledge you learned on your own very well. This is the comprehensive science test paper for this year's college entrance examination. I originally planned to explain the knowledge points I encountered in class as if they were real exam questions. You should take your time to study and get familiar with the question types. I'll communicate your situation and ideas with the school leaders!"

"Okay, Teacher Chen!" Wu Tong spread out the test paper and, using the same paper and pencil she'd used for math, continued working fluently. These questions were no longer difficult for her. To achieve her goal, Wu Tong had been giving her all from the moment she entered the office.

The science test paper has a lot of questions, so she has to speed up and try to finish it within 40 minutes before the class starts, so as to give her teacher more proof to the school.

Chen Qiusheng left the office, took out his cell phone, and dialed Duan Hong's number.

"Director Duan, it's me, Old Chen from Class 7. Wu Tong, the kid in our class, wants to skip a grade and take the college entrance exam early. I just asked her to do this year's math exam paper. She took 24 minutes and got full marks again. This kid has already taught herself the high school curriculum and has mastered it quite well!" The grade group leader is now also called the grade director. When discussing matters formally, Chen Qiu Sheng addressed the more formal title.

"Really?" Duan Hong could guess that this student had studied on his own in advance since he got full marks in this placement test. However, he was still surprised and moved by the fact that he had completed all the high school courses on his own.

"It's true, I saw it with my own eyes. Are you in the office now? Or should I bring the test paper to you?" The top class is in the building in front, and the teacher's office is also over there.

"She's doing this year's science exam in my office now. I originally wanted her to look at the question types and get a feel for it, but I see she's at it again. If she keeps doing it at the same pace as she did with math, it probably won't take too long before we know how well she's mastered the science exam!"

If the child can get high scores in comprehensive science, then he or she does have the ability to skip grades. As a teacher, it is rare to encounter such a special student, but as a teacher, it is always our responsibility to help students.

While the two teachers were communicating and discussing, the second grade class was in an uproar. Class 7 of the second grade was even more excited after Chen Qiu Sheng and Wu Tong left the classroom.

Those in the front row, with the best vantage points, lifted the ban and expressed their shock: "Oh my God... We're going to die! Five out of six subjects got full marks, and Chinese got 130. Are we going to die?"

"When did such a talented person appear in our class? He's already making such a fuss after the school just started."

"Wu Tong, when did Wu Tong become so awesome? Wasn't he only ranked 30 or 40 before?"

"733, is this the score a human would get? Are you sure the test paper isn't a spirit?"

"Is this what should be okay? 733 is okay?" Zhang Shumei heard the news from the front row, looked at the empty seat next to her and exclaimed in shock.

···After being stimulated by Wu Tong's good grades, most of the class teachers entered the classroom early and started lecturing at full speed.

In the elite class, Duan Hong's face darkened. "Did you have a wonderful summer vacation? Look at what each of you did on the exams. The top scorer isn't in our class. Do you know how high they got? Five perfect scores, 133 in Chinese, 733 in total. How about you? The highest score didn't even reach 700. How big of a gap can we have with them?"

"I won't talk about other subjects for now, let's just talk about math. How could none of you get full marks on such a basic question? What were you doing? Were you sleepwalking through the exam? With your attitude, would you be able to fire bullets on the battlefield of the college entrance examination? It's understandable that other classes didn't get full marks, but what about you? What knowledge point haven't we learned or touched upon?"

"We're both on summer vacation, but they studied hard and got a perfect score of 733 on five subjects. What about you? How far have you all fallen behind?"
