"Sister! How are you?"

9-year-old Xie Shen bent over, sneaked into the house, and saw Xie Yun washing clothes in the yard.

"I've been sweating, and my fever's gone. I'm going to wash the clothes I got dirty yesterday."

Xie Yun kept talking, his hands moving non-stop. He looked at his brother, whose eyes were rolling around, and said, "What are you doing? So sneaky."

Xie Shen didn't answer her. He bolted the door quickly, then ran to Xie Yun with one hand supporting his belly. With the other hand, he touched her forehead, then touched his own. "It's really not hot anymore. That's great."

He opened his shirt and took out a bright red tomato from his belly and handed it to Xie Yun, "Sister, eat it. I just picked it. It's very fresh."

Xie Yun put down the clothes in his hands, changed to a small wooden basin, and washed his hands with clean water to remove the soap foam on his hands. He reached out to take the tomato and rinsed it with water, then asked, "Have you eaten it?"

"Yes. I ate two in the garden."

As he spoke, he reached into the basin and began to rub the clothes. He then asked, "Sister, have you eaten the breakfast I left for you?"

"No. I drank some water this morning and didn't feel like eating."

"How can that be? Man is iron and rice is steel. If you don't eat for a meal, you will be hungry. You are sick, so you need to eat well. Wait, I will go and heat it up for you."

Xie Shen was like a little old man, muttering to himself, his mouth never idle, and he would run to the kitchen while talking.

Xie Yun grabbed him and said, "I don't feel like eating right now. My mouth feels bitter. I'll just eat the tomatoes and that's it. I'll eat with you guys at noon. By the way, why are you back at this time?"

"Mom asked me to come back to see you. If your fever hasn't subsided, she asked me to go to the clinic and get Doctor Zhu to check on you. When we left this morning, you were still running a fever. Mom gave you some water and put a wet cloth on your head. Seeing that you were sleeping well, she didn't call the doctor. She was worried, so she asked me to come back to check on you."

"Tell Mom that I'm almost well again and can go to work this afternoon."

"Go tomorrow. You had such a high fever this morning, you'll be fine if you take a day off. Mom has already asked for leave for you, so no one will say anything to you. I'll bring you a cucumber this afternoon."

"Be careful, don't let anyone find out."

"Hey, don't worry, I'm smart and won't be seen. I'm not like Er Gouzi, who would steal eggplants when he could steal anything else and then claim he didn't eat them. His mouth is purple, but he thinks everyone is blind."

Xie Yun couldn't help laughing.

Nowadays, all vegetables are truly pollution-free and organic. With the exception of lentils, which can be poisonous if eaten raw, almost everything else can be eaten raw. People who work in the gardens usually don't go hungry. When they do get hungry, they just pick some vegetables, rub them on their clothes, and eat them. Eggplant, cowpeas, cucumbers, tomatoes—whatever they can get their hands on.

However, no one eats eggplant unless absolutely necessary, because eating it will leave "evidence" that cannot be wiped off.

Her younger brother, Xie Shen, worked in the vegetable garden and not only ate the vegetables himself but also secretly brought some home for her. The young man was very clever and was never caught.

Xie Yun opened his mouth and took a bite of the tomato. It was sandy, sour with a hint of sweetness, and it was delicious. Moreover, this tomato was solid, unlike the tomatoes of later generations that were empty shells when cut open, without any tomato flavor.

As she ate, she casually remarked, "Tomatoes are almost out of season."

"Yeah. Not much longer. It'll be time to pull it out and plant something else in a few days."

"Alas, what a pity."

"What's the pity? Once tomatoes are out of season, radishes will be available."

Xie Yun ate a tomato and chased him away, "Go back to work quickly, or people will accuse you of skipping work."

"Why."

Xie Shen agreed, put down the clothes in his hand and ran out. When he reached the door, he turned back and said to Xie Yun, "Sister, if you don't feel well, go back and lie down. I'll wash your clothes when I come back."

"Got it, let's go."

Xie Shen ran away.

After Xie Yun finished eating the tomatoes, he took out the seeds and threw them into his own space. After sowing them with his mental power, he started washing clothes.

She had come into this world this morning. Her original owner, Xie Yun, had the same name as her, born in 1950, and was now 18 years old. Last night, under a cloudless sky, she and the other members of the commune had been moving corn from the threshing grounds to the warehouse. Honest and hardworking, she persevered until the very end, sweating profusely. On the way home, she got caught in the rain and developed a high fever during the night. When she opened her eyes again, she was no longer alive.

Xie Yun, now from the 21st century, is an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. She was lucky: the orphanage had a good environment, the director and social workers were very kind, and people from the community often donated money, so her life was not bad at all.

Xie Yun was smart and studious. In addition to attending school as per the regular schedule, he also learned a lot of miscellaneous talents from the volunteers at the orphanage, including singing, piano and dancing. He didn't learn them all very well, but he knew them all.

Xie Yun started earning money after entering high school at the age of 16. She worked as a tutor, distributed flyers, and worked as a salesperson, and gradually saved some money.

On her 18th birthday, Xie Yun strolled along a famous antique street in Beijing and bought a jade ring for fun at a stall for 20 yuan. However, she did not expect that a few days later, she accidentally scratched her finger, opened the space, and the jade ring disappeared.

After a brief moment of shock, Xie Yun accepted the reality.

There is land, rivers and a spring in the space, which can be used for planting and breeding. The only drawback is that she cannot enter it herself and can only control it through her mind.

Since then, Xie Yun has become even busier. She bought various seeds and planted them in the space. Fortunately, these things were not expensive and she could afford them. In the process, she developed super mental power, became sharp-eyed and sharp-eared, and had a photographic memory.

She also seized the time to learn various knowledge and skills, and worked hard to make money to stockpile things, especially various books and daily necessities. She stockpiled everything she could. After all, she had the space. Who knew whether what was waiting for her next would be a primitive society, fleeing famine, the end of the world, or a distant future where animals and plants had become extinct and had to rely on nutrient solution to sustain life?

Be prepared for a rainy day.

Xie Yun doesn't save money. He uses all the money he earns to stock up things and pay tuition.

She was busy until she was 32 years old.

Xie Yun decided to take a breather, a break, so she took the civil service exam and passed. She'd had the space for 14 years, and there was still no sign of a time travel. Xie Yun felt she might live to the end of her life in this world. It would be better to travel back in time after death than to travel back in time while still alive.

Xie Yun happily took up his post. Not long into his job, his boss was about to go on an inspection tour of the industrial park. Xie Yun and two colleagues went as a vanguard to tour the park, helping his boss identify the best spots and making all the necessary arrangements. Unfortunately, they were caught in the middle of a massive explosion at the chemical plant, and they were probably blown to pieces.

Xie Yun didn't even dare to think about that scene, as it was too horrific to watch.
