Confession
Under the red brick and tile wall, a slightly slanted shadow passed through the shade of the tree, carrying a sense of dejection.
Jiang Qing grabbed a corner of the test paper with heavy steps. Her hands seemed to hold a tremendous amount of strength, weighing heavily on her heart.
The girl frowned, had a bitter look on her face, and had no expression, but if you looked closely, you could see her soul wandering beneath her stiff body.
Lin Nanyan walked towards him and saw this scene.
"What's wrong?" He quickened his pace and took a few big strides forward to ask.
What happened? Lin Nanyan couldn't help but speculate in his mind. Was he criticized by the teacher? Bullied by classmates? Was he discouraged by his poor grades? Or...?
Before he could think deeply, he saw the girl walked straight past him as if she didn't hear anything, and slapped the test paper in her hand into his arms.
Lin Nanyan paused, unfolded the thing in his hand, and took a quick glance. It was a familiar blank test paper.
"Isn't it just a test paper? Why do you look like that?" He put away the test paper, turned around and slowly followed Jiang Qing.
Hearing Lin Nanyan's voice, Jiang Qing's defense broke down instantly.
Is this about a test paper?
No! It's super loud!
This is her hard work, a great work that she spent countless brain cells to complete!
More importantly, this is not a replica of the knowledge in her mind, but a strange, crooked, and barely acceptable building that was built with great difficulty after the building collapsed and the ruins were rebuilt.
It is a disposable consumable item!!!
She had just tentatively looked at the test paper, trying to dig into her subconscious and retrieve her vague memories, but—
"I have absolutely no recollection of the answers I wrote."
All the steps had to be overturned and started over again, and the backup had been lost. How could she not be sad!
Lin Nanyan's lips curved slightly, but soon returned to normal, fearing that Jiang Qing would get angry and embarrassed.
"Just rewrite it." Facing Jiang Qing's angry gaze, he spoke in a slow tone.
The relationship is not about you, so of course you say it so lightly. Could it be that she doesn't want it?
If Jiang Qing had a brain as sharp as his, she could also pat her chest and say comfortably that she would just rewrite it, because people like him could rewrite a paper they had already written in just ten minutes.
Don’t ask Jiang Qing why she knew this, because she had been broken through many times after traveling through time and space, and she had become numbly accustomed to it.
Hearing the teasing in Lin Nanyan's words, Jiang Qing opened her mouth to accuse him, "Are you a human being? Why don't you eat meat?" "Why don't you stand and talk..."
"I remember your answer."
!!!
"No..." Jiang Qing changed the subject abruptly, looking very surprised. "Really...are you serious?"
Lin Nanyan nodded under her expectant gaze, "I've checked your paper."
Because he had checked her, he was deeply impressed by her wrong questions and remembered them clearly. If asked, he could repeat them.
After getting a clear answer, Jiang Qing instantly regained her energy. That was true. She had shown him her paper last night. Isn't this a ready-made backup?
She was delighted and praised enthusiastically, "Nannan, you are really reliable."
Lin Nanyan's eyes were cold and clear, like a spring, staring at her, as if quietly expressing his dissatisfaction.
Fortunately, Jiang Qing remembered in time that she still had to rely on the brains of the people around her and not provoke them casually.
She stroked his fur skillfully and servilely: "Brother, you are my brother, Brother Nan Yan, please."
Lin Nanyan withdrew his gaze, and before he could take a step, he heard Jiang Qing muttering softly, "You are allowed to call me Jiang Jiang, but you are not allowed to call you Nan Nan. You are too overbearing."
Sure enough, Jiang Qing is still the same Jiang Qing.
Lin Nanyan pretended not to hear, strode forward, and threatened, "Are you still going to finish your paper?"
"Write it, write it now," Jiang Qing sounded the alarm. She trotted a few steps to catch up with Lin Nanyan, imitating Li Dongming's tone in a strange way, pinching her throat and pretending to speak. "Li Dongming asked me to hand it in to him this afternoon. He's absolutely crazy. He said someone accidentally wet my paper."
Lin Nanyan glanced sideways. It was obvious that she was vilifying the teacher. Li Dongming's voice was not so thin and sarcastic.
"Everyone knows that he got it wet while drinking tea. He is trying to cover his ears and steal the bell, covering his nose and stealing the fragrance, deceiving others and himself. He is trying to hide the truth and has a first-class skill in shifting the blame." Jiang Qing criticized the other party very righteously.
Well, this is the idiom possessed by the Chinese teacher.
"He holds his shabby thermos cup every day in the hottest weather, and he doesn't even put it away properly. He only knows how to fix it when it breaks."
Well, that’s what Aunt Wang said.
Lin Nanyan listened patiently, tilting his head slightly, watching the reflections of the surrounding buildings in the sun gradually paint on Jiang Qing's face, jumping and rotating, bringing a vivid scene.
"right."
"yes."
"Um."
He responded nonchalantly, as if in a trance, and suddenly realized that Jiang Qing had stopped talking. He saw the brim of the hat on the corridor and kissed the girl's right cheek in the dim light.
Soon, the light and shadow passed by, disappearing on the water, so fast that he could not catch any trace.
"Look." Jiang Qing winked and nudged Lin Nanyue with her elbow. Her eyes were wide open, as if she had been injected with stimulants and was full of enthusiasm.
Lin Nanyan's gaze paused slightly, moved away from Jiang Qing's cheek, and fell right in front of her where her eyes were pointing.
At the corner, there was a girl standing there quietly.
She was wearing a lavender long dress, and her long hair was blown by the wind, with a few strands of hair falling down and landing on the girl's fair face. Her eyes wandered, as if she was nervous, but soon turned back to look, with anticipation on her face.
"Looking for you, I won't bother you anymore."
Jiang Qing's cheerful voice sounded, but before the last syllable fell, the person had already walked away.
As she passed by the girl, she gave her a grateful smile.
Wow, what a beautiful girl when she smiles. Jiang Qing secretly gave her a cheering gesture and added a bright smile.
She fluttered away like a moth, her wings almost turning into a fan, as she fled the scene.
Lin Nanyue stared at Jiang Qing's back as she walked away, and only looked away when she disappeared.
The entire corridor was silent, with only the crisp sound of leather shoes falling that rang out and then stopped.
The girl stood still, lowered her head, not daring to look at the other person. Her gaze was aimless, and it fell vaguely on the envelope in her hand, where her fingertips were clenched tightly, almost making wrinkles on the envelope.
Her hand loosened as if it were burning, then she calmed down, raised her head and handed over the envelope.
"This is a letter I wrote to you. I hope you will accept it."
She mustered up the courage to look up at the boy. Her first impression was that he was very tall, extremely tall. Maybe it was because the distance was too close. It was the first time she was so close to him.
Her hands were shaking, but she didn't realize it. She just tried hard to take in the boy's expression, trying to judge his mood from it, but her brain was no longer able to process external information and she couldn't make out anything.
The boy stood against the light, his skin was so fair that it seemed to be glowing.
Did she see his face clearly? It seemed that she did, but it also seemed that she didn't. She just felt that the boy must be very good-looking now.
Her cheeks were burning and flushed, she felt ashamed and unmotivated. At one point, the girl wanted to shrink back and act like a turtle, but she held back.
It felt like ten thousand years had passed, but also like a blink of an eye. The boy reached out and took it. The collision of pink and white easily captured her heart.
She subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief but quickly tensed up again, so quickly that she didn't even notice the moment of relaxation.
Lin Nanyan looked at the envelope handed over by the girl. There was a pink heart on the light pink envelope. Because it was in the same color scheme, it was not very obvious, but it was not invisible either, hiding the girl's little ingenuity.
"Thank you," he said.
Her head was dizzy, but she still heard the boy's words clearly. Before she could process the meaning of this input information, she heard the boy's next sentence.
"sorry."
Sorry, sorry for what?
Oh, I'm sorry for her confession. Her head suddenly calmed down, the red fever subsided, and her ability to think finally came back.
"It's okay," she said.
Did he smile at her? It seemed like no, but it also seemed like yes. Was he trying to comfort her?
Seeing the boy about to pass by, she suddenly said, "Do you like..." She paused slightly and continued quickly, "Do you have someone you like?"
"No." The boy's voice came without hesitation.
He paused, as if waiting for the girl to ask any more questions. A moment later, in silence, the boy's figure disappeared into the distance.
The wind blew a white plastic bag and it got stuck in the corner of the wall, making a whistling sound.
The sound of small leather shoes sounded again, stopping in front of the plastic bag. There was a clattering sound, and water dripped, which was barely audible in the whistling sound.
It's just a rejection, that's all.
She raised the corners of her mouth, trying to keep it at a natural curve, but failed, so she stopped struggling and let herself go.
Her first love ended the moment she first saw the light of day.
But you had a premonition, didn't you?
When she saw the boy's focused gaze on the girl's profile;
When she saw the boy following the girl casually and naturally with a smile on his face;
When she heard the boy's gentle yet leisurely and patient response;
That was another side she had never seen.
So, guided by fate, she seemed to have some feelings, but still decided to give herself a result.
I clearly knew it a long time ago and I’ve clearly prepared myself mentally, so why am I still so sad?
Maybe it was because she missed a very good person, maybe it was because the cat's other boot finally landed, maybe it was because she finally reached the Yellow River.
She stood up and walked to the other side of the corridor. The sun was shining, the branches and leaves were crisp, and birds in the distance landed and flew up again.
The sky is blue, the trees are green, the school bell rings, and the students' reading voices soon become one, which can be heard from such a distance.
Her gaze dropped to the three figures in the open space below.
The boy stood beside the girl, feeling a little wary. Opposite them stood another unfamiliar figure.
The distance was too far to see the man's face clearly, but from his body shape, I could tell that he should be a very good-looking boy, but he would probably be difficult to deal with.
The three people seemed to be talking about something.
As she watched, she couldn't help laughing.
Since he didn't realize her feelings, she wouldn't wake him up. She would just treat it as a small punishment for her dressing up and the boy ruthlessly rejecting her.
Who made her a willful person?
Her gaze drifted off into the distance, and she turned around.
What is heartbeat?
It is joy, bitterness, timidity, and fearlessness.
Her heart beat, and it still beat for him, but she knew that someday it might rejoice for someone else.
Not in the past, not in the present, but in the distant future.
Future, what a beautiful word.
The little leather shoes tapped as they walked through the corridors, through the classrooms, through the tree-lined paths, and disappeared in the wind.
In the green trash can beside the road, the white plastic bag with damp water marks finally fell asleep quietly.
