I don't care
Jiang Qing took out her cell phone and looked at the strange message she received that morning.
[Lurking]
She replied, "Okay, comrade, stay safe." When she looked up, she saw a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
Jiang Qing looked up at the bright sign at the hospital gate, then looked down at the people in front of her.
Although the boy was wearing a hat and mask, black clothes and black pants, and looked fully armed, Jiang Qing still recognized him at a glance.
What's going on?
Why is Lin Nanyan here?
She subconsciously dodged, watched the boy enter the hospital gate, and followed him quietly.
Walking through the long corridor, Jiang Qing followed the boy from a distance. She knew how sharp his eyesight was to being followed, so she would never step out of line.
Fortunately, the boy's route was not complicated. After having sex with a strange middle-aged woman, he entered the ward with his schoolbag on his back.
Jiang Qing looked up at the ward number. Wow, it was only one floor away from Song Yao, whom she was supposed to visit today.
The structure of the room should be similar to that of the upstairs. She rolled her eyes, asked the medical staff for a mask, and put it on.
Seeing the nurse push the door open, she followed her, looking straight ahead as she walked into the other half of the room, pretending to be a family member of another patient.
In the ward, two people who were originally talking stopped talking when they heard someone pushing the door open.
Only the nurse's voice could be heard, "How's your appetite today?"
Jiang Qing's sight just reached the other half of the room, and she thought to herself, "Oh no! There's no one on the bed!"
In other words, there is only one patient in this ward.
Her deceptive behavior was just a cover-up for her loneliness. Jiang Qing closed her eyes and thought with regret that she shouldn't have been so reckless.
"It's okay, it's much better now." A familiar voice came, and Jiang Qing suddenly opened her eyes wide.
How could it be him?
She quickly pulled open the curtain that blocked the two beds and looked straight at the person sitting on the bed.
The boy had black hair with slightly curled ends, a thin frame and a ruddy face. When he heard the noise, he looked at her in surprise with his mouth slightly open.
Jiang Qing looked up and down, and apart from finding that the other person was wearing a hospital gown, there was nothing different about him from usual.
The nurse was also startled by the noise here. She originally thought that it was the patient's family visiting, but now it seems that it is not the case.
"Is this your family member?" the nurse asked hesitantly.
"Yes." Lin Nanyan nodded in agreement. He had noticed the girl's footsteps the moment Jiang Qing was wandering outside the ward door.
"That's good," the nurse looked at the notebook next to the bed and flipped through two pages. "It's nothing serious. Maintain your normal diet and don't eat anything else..."
"What did he eat?" Jiang Qing was attracted by the nurse's words.
"This..." The nurse looked at the patient lying on the bed, who was now eerily quiet, and shut up decisively. "According to regulations, we cannot disclose the patient's privacy. If you want to know anything, you can ask yourself."
She signed the ward rounds book. "If you want to be discharged, you need to be evaluated and approved by the doctor. You can go through the discharge procedures at any time after that."
As the nurse left, the ward door was closed again and the room fell into silence.
Jiang Qing sighed, took out her cell phone, and typed a few words.
[I encountered a little accident here, please wait a moment]
The next second, a text message was sent back.
[Okay, I'm not in a hurry]
After reading it, Jiang Qing raised her eyes, pulled over a chair, took off her mask, and sat in front of the bed, as if she wanted to compete with the other person to see who could outlast the other.
She looked at the boy's face, which had become much paler, on the hospital bed, and felt that he looked even more like a patient now than before.
"Wang Huacheng," she asked, "didn't your mother take you back to your hometown to visit relatives?"
"I..." Wang Huaqi licked his dry lips and looked at Lin Nanyan for help, "I..."
Jiang Qing had a blank expression on her face. "Don't look at him. I'm asking you."
Lin Nanyan avoided Wang Huaqiang's sight, hugged the puppy in his arms, and reduced his presence.
Seeing this, Wang Huaqiang knew that he could no longer rely on Lin Nanyan. He turned his head tremblingly and met Jiang Qing's gaze. He forced a smile.
"It's just... I have a stomachache and some intestinal discomfort, nothing serious."
Jiang Qing nodded: "Okay, stomach upset."
It seemed that Jiang Qing believed it. Wang Huaqiang's heart slowly calmed down, while Lin Nanyan turned his head silently.
Just when Wang Huaqing was about to relax, Jiang Qing suddenly asked, "What about last time?"
"Did you also have a stomachache when you left my house last time?"
Wang Huaqiang's smiling mask cracked, revealing the panic that could not be concealed underneath.
"Last time...last time..." He hesitated for a long time and couldn't utter the second half of the sentence.
Jiang Qing looked at him, "If it's just a stomach upset, why did you lie?"
Wang Huazheng didn't know how to explain. Jiang Qing obviously didn't believe what he said. He blinked his eyelashes nervously, closed his tightly closed clam shell, and kept silent.
"Okay, okay, okay." Faced with Wang Huaqiang's refusal to cooperate, Jiang Qing was speechless. She stood up, and the chair suddenly made a harsh sound when it rubbed against the floor.
Xiao Hei, who was dozing off, was startled and almost jumped up.
Lin Nanyan covered its ears and pressed it down again. Xiao Hei licked the palm of his hand above his head, wagged his tail, and curled up his short limbs obediently.
"It seems," Jiang Qing said disappointedly, "that you don't consider us friends either."
As she spoke, she glanced at the boy who was silently playing with the dog next to her, and her anger suddenly flared up. "You and Lin Nanyan should go together."
She turned and left. Seeing that Jiang Qing was really angry, Wang Huaqiang struggled to sit up.
The moment Jiang Qing opened the door, she heard Wang Huaqiang's frightened voice with a sobbing tone.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
Jiang Qing stopped and looked at the pale face of the boy on the hospital bed, and her heart softened for a moment.
But soon, her face regained its composure, she sat back in her chair, and looked at Wang Huaqiang quietly.
Wang Huaqing's eyes were red. "I'm sorry, I...I just don't know how to say it."
It was extremely difficult for him to confess this matter, just like now, he was on the edge of the cliff, but he still didn't know how to start.
Jiang Qing: "What about Lin Nanyan? You know what to say to Lin Nanyan, but you won't say anything to me or Song Shuang."
With Wang Huaqiang's personality, if he is not provoked, he will not be able to tell the details even if he is given another ten days.
"That's... different," Wang Huaqing stammered. Seeing Jiang Qing's raised eyebrows, he quickly explained, "I didn't say anything. He saw it."
Jiang Qing's tone stretched out, "What did he see?"
Wang Huaqiang looked at Lin Nanyan eagerly, and Lin Nanyan asked him with his eyes, are you sure?
Wang Huaqiang nodded with difficulty, then lay down and smoothly pulled the quilt over his head to block his vision.
Close your eyes and cover your ears, as if you can avoid the storm that is coming.
"I saw his medical report," Lin Nanyan looked at the man covered tightly on the bed, "He really didn't say anything."
"I also ran into him by coincidence yesterday."
Jiang Qing didn't bother to ask how they bumped into each other yesterday. She only cared about one question now, "What disease is it?"
Lin Nanyan lowered his eyes, "Have you heard of green cancer?"
Cancer...cancer?
Jiang Qing's heart sank to the bottom. She shook her head blankly, "No...no."
"Green cancer refers to a chronic disease with a long course and a lower mortality rate than true cancer."
"Crohn's disease is one of them. It is a chronic, transmural inflammatory bowel disease that can affect the entire digestive tract. The inflammation is "jump-like," with alternating normal and diseased intestinal segments."
"People with this disease will experience malnutrition, abdominal pain, and chronic diarrhea," Lin Nanyan recounted the information he had researched overnight. "Therefore, special attention should be paid to a healthy diet."
As soon as the words fell, the room fell into silence. In this suffocatingly quiet atmosphere, Wang Huaqing couldn't help but clench the quilt in his hands, and the beating of his heart in his chest became louder and louder.
"No, no more?" Jiang Qing blinked.
Lin Nanyan: “Yeah.”
Just as he responded, he was suddenly slapped on the back. Lin Nanyue was distracted for a moment. Jiang Jiang, indeed, has the demeanor of Aunt Wang.
"No, enteritis is enteritis. It doesn't matter if you say it's something like...something else." Jiang Qing was so angry that she almost exploded. She didn't care about the quarrel with Lin Nanyan anymore and slapped him without restraint. "Who are you trying to scare by talking about cancer?"
Her little heart was still beating fast, and she almost thought she was about to lose her dear friend Wang Huaqiang.
She said, how could she have cancer when she was still alive and well nine years later?
Jiang Qing stood up angrily and pulled back Wang Huaqiang's quilt.
"Isn't it just enteritis? You act like everyone has had it," she huffed. "At most, you're a little special, it's a chronic condition. Do you really need to hide it from us?"
The sky above his head suddenly brightened, and Wang Huaqing's eyes were stimulated by the direct light and some moisture was secreted from the corners. He looked at Jiang Qing, who was full of momentum, and saw her nonchalant attitude, and loosened his palm.
I felt the cold sweat on my spine belatedly.
He was stunned, like a fool, and asked hesitantly, "You don't care?"
"What don't you care about?" Jiang Qing asked back.
"I don't care that I can't have dinner with you like a normal person, I don't care that I never eat the snacks you give me, I don't care that I always disappear from time to time..."
Wang Huaqiang spewed out a series of words like a machine gun, as if these words had been buried deep in his heart for many years, so when he spoke them out, they were so smooth that they didn't even need to go through his brain.
"Stop, stop, stop," Jiang Qing interrupted him with a frown. "What nonsense! I'm your friend, not your mother. Why should I care so much about you?"
"I don't care, Lin Nanyan doesn't care, Song Shuang doesn't care, and Ye Meiyan and Chen Heng don't care either," she looked at the boy and emphasized, "Only you care."
She said, "Wang Huacheng, you're the only one who cares."
Wang Huacheng was stunned. He murmured, "Yeah, I'm the only one who cares."
I care so much about it that I still can’t get out of the shadow of my childhood after so many years;
They care so much that they would rather vomit until their lungs ache after a meal than refuse to eat together; they care so much that when interacting with others, they always observe other people's expressions, for fear that their troublesome constitution will be exposed;
I care so much that I carefully maintain my shallow self-esteem and live one day at a time by pretending to be deaf and dumb; I care so much that I live every day in fear as if I am dancing on the edge of a knife.
Wang Huaqi covered his face with his hands, and water seeped out from between his fingers.
Tears streamed down his face as if he could finally cry out loud in front of the two people in front of him.
Wang Huaqiang needs some space to himself, Jiang Qing thought.
She left the ward, and Lin Nanyan followed behind her, glancing at the girl sideways.
Sure enough, a smiling face fell down as soon as it walked out of the ward door.
