I would rather not

I would rather not

Jiang Qing suddenly picked up the camera from her chest, moved closer, and touched it again and again.

I felt a cool touch, and it was real!

She turned her head, raised her hand, and asked, "Where did it come from?"

Lin Nanyan: "I was eliminated from the publicity department of my dad's company."

"It looks quite new," Jiang Qing said, her eyes glued to it, "but the model is a bit old."

Lin Nanyan: ...

He took two steps forward and pointed at the deliberately distressed scratches on the camera casing. "See?"

The boy's tall figure approached, casting a shadow. Jiang Qing glared at him and said, "Stay away from me."

Lin Nanyan raised his hand and took two steps back. "Is this not necessary?"

"Even if I have someone I like," he said with a hint of joking, "given our friendship, there's no need to avoid suspicion. Could it be that—"

Lin Nanyan bent down, his warm breath spraying on Jiang Qing's face. He looked at her, "Do you like me?"

Jiang Qing looked at the person in front of her, and saw the little self in his eyes.

Like, what is it?

Is it the pain of seeing him with other girls?

Is it anger that he could fall in love with someone else so quickly?

Is it the despair of knowing clearly that you are trapped but unable to save yourself?

If so, she would rather not have it.

She doesn't want these negative emotions that are about to drown her.

She doesn't want to like him.

She didn't want to be so pathetic.

Jiang Qing took a deep breath, pressed her fingers on Lin Nanyue's forehead and pushed hard.

"Like you?" She mocked expressionlessly, "Don't daydream."

The girl stood high up on the stairs, looked down at him, and uttered something coldly.

As the two looked at each other quietly, the voice-controlled light above their heads went out, and darkness came over them, as if some hidden emotions were flowing.

"It's night now." Lin Nanyan said suddenly.

Jiang Qing: ...

"Since you've said that," Lin Nan reached out, took Jiang Qing's wrist, turned around and pushed open the door of his house, "Why avoid suspicion when you're being so open and honest?"

Jiang Qing was dragged in unexpectedly. She was pressed on the sofa and watched in confusion as the boys went in and out of the room and bathroom.

"Mouthwash, bath towel," Lin Nanyan stuffed the things in his hand to the other party, "and clothes."

"I've already prepared warm water for you, go take a shower first."

Take...a bath?

Jiang Qing's complex emotions were interrupted. She opened her mouth to say something, but Lin Nanyan suddenly turned back on his way to the kitchen and said, "By the way, try to finish within ten minutes. People who drink alcohol are suitable for sponge baths. Call me if you need anything."

"No," Jiang Qing finally found a chance to interrupt, looking puzzled. "Why should I take a shower at your house?"

Lin Nanyan, holding a teapot in his hand, half of his body was exposed at the kitchen door. He looked at her in surprise, "Do you want Aunt Wang to know how much you drank?"

Jiang Qing quickly shook her head, no, no, absolutely not.

Lin Nanyan retracted his half-leaning body, and a smiling voice came from the kitchen far away, but it was not clear.

"Smell your own clothes. Do they stink?"

Jiang Qing lifted her collar and sniffed. A strong smell of alcohol rushed into her brain. She frowned and pinched Li Yuan.

No matter what kind of alcohol it is, it always smells bad when you are drunk on it.

She took off the camera and placed it carefully on the coffee table, then picked up the towel and clothes, glanced at the busy figure in the kitchen, and turned into the bathroom.

The sound of water stopped after a while, and Jiang Qing stopped wiping her body and preparing to put on clothes, her face flushed.

Damn Lin Dagou!

What's the point of taking a bath? You want her crotch to be empty!

"Jiang Jiang," Lin Nanyan walked out of the kitchen and looked at the clock on the wall. Fifteen minutes had passed. "Showering for too long is not good for your health."

Jiang Qing pinched the underwear that she had washed while dizzy in the shower, bit her lip, and did not answer.

There was no movement in the bathroom for a long time. Lin Nanyan approached and knocked on the bathroom door twice. "Jiang Jiang, are you in there? Are you dizzy?"

"I'll be right out." Jiang Qing replied through gritted teeth.

The footsteps outside the bathroom door gradually faded away, and Jiang Qing felt relieved, but when she saw the bathroom in full view, her heart began to beat again.

What is going on?

“Squeak—”

The bathroom door opened and Lin Nanyan looked over.

The girl's face was flushed from the heat. She was wearing a dark red T-shirt with a wide hem that reached to the middle of her thighs, revealing a pair of slender white legs.

She stood there without moving, her hands on the sides of her T-shirt at her waist, slightly bent over, in a strange posture.

"Get me a coat," Jiang Qing said, not daring to move, fearing she'd reveal something. "No, two."

Lin Nanyan was startled back to his senses by the girl's voice. He lowered his eyes, turned back to the room, took off his coat and prepared to hand it over.

Jiang Qing yelled, "Stop!"

Lin Nanyan stopped.

"Just put it on the sofa and turn around." Jiang Qing gave the remote control command.

Lin Nanyan put it down obediently, then turned around and listened to the rustling noise coming from behind him. His ears were stained with a touch of gorgeous sunset.

Jiang Qing: "Okay."

Finally, it was tightly wrapped, and Jiang Qing finally felt a little safe.

Her voice returned to normal and she asked, "Do you think it's better for me to go home like this than to go home drunk?"

Lin Nanyan turned around and saw that the girl was wearing a tracksuit that wrapped her tightly, with a white shirt tied around her waist. The layers looked out of place, and he fell silent.

Jiang Qing guessed it from his expression. She sighed, "Forget it. It's so late. I'm going home."

"Wait," Lin Nanyan brought a cup of honey-colored tea, "I made some honey water to sober you up, drink it before you leave."

Jiang Qing's fingertips touched the wall of the cup. It was warm, not hot. She swallowed it in big gulps.

"Is there a plastic bag?" she asked after drinking it in one gulp.

Lin Nanyan took the empty cup naturally and asked, "What do you need a plastic bag for?"

Jiang Qing pursed her lips: "To pack dirty clothes."

"No need," Lin Nanyan turned sideways and picked up the key to the front door. "I have to do laundry tonight too. I'll give yours to you tomorrow after drying it."

Jiang Qing looked up: "I'll wash it myself."

Lin Nanyan pushed Jiang Qing's shoulder and walked out. "It's late. You should go home. Besides, Aunt Wang will smell the smell on your clothes."

Jiang Qing dug her toes into the ground, "I'll hide it. Go get me a bag."

Lin Nanyan didn't understand what Jiang Qing was insisting on. It was just washing two pieces of clothes, a simple thing to do.

But seeing that the girl was determined to have it, he let go of her hand, turned into the bedroom, and took out a paper bag.

Jiang Qing turned her head to listen to the boy's footsteps. When she thought about what she was going to say later, her face became hot.

Without even looking at the other person, she held up three fingers and whispered, "I want three."

"There are two sets of clothes in total, and I need three..." Lin Nanyan suddenly fell silent as he spoke. He realized something and all the blood in his body suddenly rushed to his face.

"Wait...wait a minute." He stammered, turned around and walked towards the bedroom, bumping into the door with his hands and feet, leaving a red mark.

Lin Nanyan covered his forehead and walked in like a wandering soul.

Jiang Qing stayed where she was, covering her face with her hands, trying to tighten her skin as the heat in her body rapidly expanded.

"Bang--"

The sudden knock on the door startled Jiang Qing.

"Who...who?" she asked, covering her beating heart.

"Your mother!"

!!!

When Jiang Qing saw Lin Nanyan peeking out of the bedroom, she ignored everything and started gesticulating with her hands.

Lin Nanyan quickly dropped what he was holding, strode closer, and sniffed.

Jiang Qing asked silently: "Anything else?"

Lin Nanyue shook his head and reached out to pull the zipper of the girl's clothes up again and again, covering her white collarbone.

After walking to the door, he looked at the girl who was hurriedly tidying herself up and asked silently.

Jiang Qing met the boy's gaze and nodded slightly.

Lin Nanyan lowered his eyes and opened the door.

"It's so late, Jiang Qing, you..." As soon as Wang Hong opened the door, she saw a particularly red and swollen patch of skin on the boy's fair face. She was so shocked that she stopped talking for a moment, "Xiao Nan, what's wrong with your head?"

Lin Nanyan looked up in confusion and paused for a moment before reacting.

"It's okay, I just bumped into it accidentally."

Wang Hong felt pain just looking at it. "Have you applied the medicine? Why is your face so red?"

Lin Nanyan replied calmly, "Yes, Aunt Wang, don't worry. The doctor said it's not a big deal and will go away in a few days."

"That's good." Wang Hong felt relieved. "You should be more careful next time. Your brain is a delicate instrument, you can't be careless."

Lin Nanyan smiled: "I know."

Jiang Qing rolled her eyes subtly, but halfway through, she saw Ms. Wang's deathly gaze suddenly shooting towards her.

She immediately lowered her eyes and acted obediently.

Wang Hong was furious when she saw her family's missing people. "You've been missing all day, and why do you insist on wearing Xiaonan's clothes?"

"Does it look good? Do you think it looks good?"

As she spoke, Wang Hong was about to pick up her daughter. Just as she got closer, she noticed that Jiang Qing's hair was wet.

She stopped in an instant and looked her daughter up and down.

Jiang Qing felt uneasy when being looked at, "Mom...what...what happened?"

"You took a shower." Wang Hong's pupils suddenly shrank, and she looked at Lin Nanyan urgently. The boy's hair was dry, and there seemed to be nothing wrong with his body.

Jiang Qing didn't expect her mother to come so suddenly. Her hair wasn't even dry yet. How could she hide it from her?

"Mom, I..."

Lin Nanyan: "Auntie Wang, we came back late today, and I fell on my bike and got covered in mud. Jiang Jiang was afraid you would worry, so she changed her clothes here."

Jiang Qing nodded quickly, "Yeah, yes, that's right."

Wang Hongsong breathed a sigh of relief. They were all children. What was she thinking about?

She looked at the lively Jiang Qing and said, "Come, let me see where you fell. Does it hurt?"

"It's okay, just the clothes are dirty." Jiang Qing let Wang Hong pull them up and down to examine them carefully, and said helplessly, "I'm really not injured."

Seeing that her daughter was safe and sound and indeed not injured, she finally put on a stern face.

"What time is it? Why aren't you home yet? If your dad hadn't gone out to take out the trash and seen the lights on at Xiaonan's house, how long would you have stayed?"

Looking at the face-changing master, Ms. Wang, Jiang Qing muttered softly, "I was just about to leave when you came."

Wang Hong raised her iron palm and said, "You still dare to talk!"

Jiang Qing immediately shut up and pulled Lin Nanyan in front of her to provide physical protection.

“Surprise!”

The lights went out, and in the darkness, a familiar and loud voice suddenly rang in his ears. Lin Nanyan looked over when he heard the voice.

Jiang Shanhai appeared from behind a huge cake with several burning candles.

"Surprised? Unexpected?"

The flickering firelight illuminated a middle-aged face with a gentle smile.

Wang Hong clapped her hands and followed suit.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..."
