Scallion Noodles

Scallion Noodles

The door opened and closed, making a loud noise before returning to silence.

In the kitchen, Lin Nanyan stood still with his hands on the table, staring blankly at the flowing water.

"Buzz--" The cell phone rang suddenly and he looked over in a daze.

His eyes fell on the name flashing on the screen, and the boy's eyes suddenly became sharp. He raised his hand to turn off the faucet and walked out of the kitchen.

Jiang Qing ran into the house carrying the packaging bag. Without caring about the gazes of Jiang Shanhai and Wang Hong, she rushed into the room, put the things away first, and then carefully poked her head out.

Jiang Shanhai kept winking at Jiang Qing, while Wang Hong beside him had eyes flashing with anger.

"Why aren't you having dinner?" Jiang Qing understood immediately. She clutched her stomach exaggeratedly, "I'm starving. I really want to drink the delicious soup Mom made."

Wang Hong's face darkened: "What are you drinking? Stand up!"

Jiang Qing touched her nose. It seemed that her previous tricks were no longer effective. She walked out angrily and stood still obediently.

Dad, please persuade him, Jiang Qing looked at her father.

I've tried to persuade him, but it's no use. It's not that I don't want to help you, but Jiang Shanhai looked worried and there was really no way I could persuade him.

"Have you communicated enough?" Wang Hong's sinister voice sounded.

Jiang Qing and Jiang Shanhai reflexively looked at their noses and their hearts, and behaved themselves timidly.

"Go ahead and spoil him. I want to see what kind of person he'll become." Wang Hong glared at Jiang Shanhai. "You'll be the good guy, and I'll be the bad guy!"

Jiang Shanhai didn't expect that the anger would spread to him even if he didn't say anything. He immediately became serious and looked scared.

"Jiang Jiang, why don't you apologize to your mother? Look how angry you made her."

"Go away," Wang Hong impatiently shook off his hand, "Shut up!"

Jiang Shanhai withdrew his hand awkwardly.

Wang Hong looked at Jiang Qing who was secretly glancing at her face, and spoke in a serious voice.

"What's been going on with you lately? Your grades have been dropping, and you've been skipping classes all the time."

Jiang Qing lowered her head and listened with fear and trepidation.

"Before, you skipped school to go to the art museum to study, but then what happened? You brought people to post flyers all over the campus. What happened?"

"Some time ago, I saw that you had a good attitude towards studying, so I didn't say much. But now? You're so focused on studying that you stay up late at home with a lamp on, and school is just for you to have fun?"

Wang Hong was almost pissed off by Jiang Qing's actions. "If you don't explain it to me, we won't have dinner at home."

"No...no more?" Jiang Qing looked up in surprise.

She almost thought that what happened today was exposed and was scared to death. It turned out that it was just digging up old things, so it was okay.

Wang Hong's face suddenly turned pale, and she angrily asked, "What else?"

"Tell me, is there anything else I don't know?"

Jiang Qing shook her head violently: "No more."

Wang Hong breathed a sigh of relief and silently repeated to herself, "Communicate, communicate!" She suppressed her anger and smiled kindly, "Then tell me your reasons. I'll listen."

Jiang Qing glanced at her cautiously and spoke quickly, "I accidentally lost my recorder. I was afraid you would scold me, so I wrote a lost and found notice."

The expression on Wang Hong's face froze.

Suddenly, she roared, and a bird outside the window flew away.

"Are you stupid? You can't find it after class!"

Jiang Qing covered her ears and slid to her knees skillfully: "Mom, I'm sorry, I was wrong."

Without waiting for Wang Hong to say anything, she quickly whispered, "I dreamed of my grandpa last night."

"What?" Wang Hong's anger had not yet subsided, but she was shocked by Jiang Qing's words and her face was confused. The two completely different expressions hung on her face, which looked a little funny.

But none of the three people present cared.

Jiang Qing said seriously, "Mom, I dreamed about grandpa."

Jiang Shanhai glanced at Wang Hong and winked at Jiang Qing.

"Don't talk nonsense. You were still young at that time, how could you remember grandpa?"

This is not something you can talk about casually.

Jiang Qing was unconvinced. "Although I don't remember what my grandpa looked like, the man in my dream gave me the feeling of my grandpa, and he even called me Xiaobao."

Jiang Shanhai suddenly lost his voice. When the child's grandfather was alive, he did call her "Little Treasure".

Wang Hong froze for a moment, her voice hoarse as she spoke each word, "What did your grandpa say?"

Jiang Qing blinked her big eyes.

"Grandpa cooked me a bowl of noodles, sprinkled with green onions."

"He said, Dabao, eat some noodles."

"He's happy after eating noodles. He hopes that Dabao will be happy and healthy."

Wang Hong listened in a daze.

Jiang Qing recalled carefully, "That bowl of noodles was delicious and fragrant."

"When he saw I had finished my noodles, grandpa walked more swiftly. He carefully glanced at the direction as he walked away, and suddenly turned around and called me, 'Xiaobao.'"

Jiang Qing said excitedly, "I even waved goodbye to grandpa."

"Why does Grandpa call me Dabao?" At this point, she looked up and asked blankly, "Do I have two names?"

Wang Hong covered her mouth. She stepped back in disbelief and murmured, "It really is my dad."

"Jiang Jiang," Jiang Shanhai said to Jiang Qing as he pulled Wang Hong into the bedroom, "Eat first. The food is warming in the kitchen. Your mother and I have something to take care of."

"Oh," Jiang Qing replied eagerly, "You haven't answered my question yet."

"We'll talk about it later." Jiang Shanhaiguan closed the bedroom door and answered loudly through the wall.

Jiang Qing looked at the empty living room, went to the kitchen, and put the food on the dining table.

She took a piece of white rice with chopsticks and put it into her mouth, slower and slower.

Across the wall, tears streamed down Wang Hong's face. She tugged at Jiang Shanhai's clothes and asked anxiously, "Did you hear that? Did you hear that?"

"It's my dad, it's my dad."

She burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably: "My father cooked scallion noodles for me."

Jiang Shanhai's eyes were red. He hugged Wang Hong, tilted his face up, and patted his wife's back with his big hands.

"Yes, it's your father, and he calls you Dabao."

Wang Hong lowered her head and didn't dare to cry loudly even if she wanted to.

She is a mother and cannot let her child hear her crying.

Jiang Shanhai was heartbroken. "Our house has thick soundproof walls. Jiang Jiang can't hear it."

Wang Hong's suppressed crying voice paused for a moment, but soon the heavy sadness overwhelmed her.

Jiang Shanhai could feel the person in his arms' back shaking constantly, with sobs in his chest, venting the grief in his heart.

After a long time, it seemed that she was finally tired of crying.

Wang Hong pushed Jiang Shanhai away and wiped her eyes.

Jiang Shanhai was almost pushed to the point of staggering. He stood up silently, shaking his numb right leg slightly.

Wang Hong turned around, her eyes, washed with water, becoming brighter and more moist.

"My father doesn't blame me," she said, tears welling up in her eyes again. "He really doesn't blame me."

Jiang Shanhai limped closer and said, "I've said it before. He's such a kind man. How could he blame his own daughter?"

Wang Hong: "Then why does he never appear in my dreams?"

When she asked this question in the past, Jiang Shanhai had no way to answer, but now he can say it with confidence.

"Because her grandfather took the wrong road."

"Look, if you weren't angry about Jiang Jiang skipping classes and wanted to take Jiang Jiang to visit the grave, how would we know that your father had gone astray all these years?"

Jiang Shanhai said softly, "Maybe he wanted to find you before, but couldn't find the way."

"It's all coincidence, don't take it to heart."

The food on the table gradually became cold, and finally there was movement in the bedroom, and two people came out one after another.

"Mom," Jiang Qing complained unhappily, "How can you just walk away mid-sentence?"

Wang Hong's face had returned to normal except for a little redness in the corners of her eyes. "Well, what did you say before?"

"I said—" Jiang Qing emphasized her words, expressing her dissatisfaction, "Why does Grandpa call me Dabao and Xiaobao? Do I have two names?"

"Yeah," Wang Hong nodded, "Didn't you have a lot of names when you were a kid?"

"Your grandpa can yell whatever he wants, and you can just listen."

Jiang Qing: ...

Jiang Shanhai looked at the food on the table that was no longer hot.

"I'll bring it in and heat it up."

Jiang Qing: "Heat up your own food. I'm full."

"Okay, I'll heat you a cup of milk later." Jiang Shanhai tidied up the plates on the table and was about to return to the kitchen when Wang Hong suddenly called him.

"Lao Jiang, I have no appetite." Seeing Jiang Shanhai's disapproving expression, she said, "I want to eat scallion noodles."

"Great!" Jiang Shanhai beamed, "The noodles will be ready soon!"

Jiang Qing glanced at her father's cheerful back, then at her mother's expression. She said shrewdly, "I won't disturb you while you eat. I'm going back to my room to do my homework."

She ran into the room, and only slowed down her pace after entering.

After sitting in the chair for a while, she turned on the computer and went online.

The stack of photos Song Yao sent were neatly arranged in her email.

Jiang Qing clicked on them one by one.

It was still the familiar street, the familiar people, the lights were dim, and the two people were in different postures.

Some put their hands on each other's shoulders, some lit cigarettes, and some patted each other on the back.

It seems that the two of them are on good terms now.

But why did Li Qingyun kill Li Liang on the first day he was released from prison?

If nothing had happened during those years in prison that was unbearable to Li Qingyun, then it would be a bold guess—

Li Liang played an important role in this murder and was even the mastermind behind it.

Li Qingyun felt that Li Liang had ruined his life, so he chose to retaliate after being released from prison.

A very logical thing to do.

She turned off her computer and picked up her phone.

[How is the news investigation going? ]

Soon, there was a reply.

Marshal Fei Peng: I have some news, but for more information, please wait a moment, things are a bit complicated. We'll probably have a result tomorrow.

Jiang Qing put away her phone and looked out the window.

In the dark night, the moon hangs high above the branches.

When does the sun rise?

Will it be a good weather tomorrow?

She shook off her worries, walked to the bed, and took out her clothes from the paper bag and put them away.

But my hand touched something cold.

Jiang Qing looked over in confusion. It was a familiar texture and structure.

It's a camera!

The camera hanging around her neck that night.

Jiang Qing suddenly recalled her drunken boasts, and she threw herself on the bed and wrapped her head with the quilt.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh

After a while, Jiang Qing, steaming all over, came out of the quilt with her frizzy hair. She lay on the bed, hugged the camera, looked at it for a while, and couldn't help kissing it again and again.

Never mind, the camera is not guilty!

Stars dot the night sky and the earth is silent.

Some people were fast asleep, some were wide awake, and some were arguing.

But it doesn't matter.

As the black sky gradually turns white as the dawn breaks.

The next day, the sun rose slowly as usual and shone on the earth.
