Visiting graves

Visiting graves

"Yes, crystal clear."

The green bus swayed and stopped along the city road towards the predetermined track.

A soft music came from the cell phone of some passenger in the carriage.

The scenery outside the window passed by, and after passing several stations, Jiang Qing got off from the back door.

Lin Nanyan pulled Jiang Qing and walked against the current through the crowded crowd, turned behind the platform sign, and hid in Jiang Qing's blind spot.

The night is filled with darkness, the sky is full of stars, and a half moon hangs high in the sky, casting a clear light on the ground.

Jiang Qing, carrying his schoolbag, repeated the path he had walked countless times.

When she turned the corner, she stopped abruptly, and her long shadow was broken by the horizontal wall.

Jiang Qing retracted her outstretched foot at lightning speed, her heart pounding with fear. "Were we discovered?"

"It doesn't look like it," Lin Nanyan carefully observed the other side through the rearview mirror on the corner of the street, "She didn't look back."

"That's good." Jiang Qing slowly exhaled.

Lin Nanyan looked at her lively expression and asked, "Are you so afraid of being discovered?"

Jiang Qing was speechless and muttered softly, "You don't understand."

"She's gone." Lin Nanyan reported the latest situation.

"Hurry, hurry, follow me." Jiang Qing grabbed Lin Nanyan's hand and ran, diligently following him as if he were a paparazzi.

"Wait," Lin Nanyan gently pulled the girl's hand as he turned the corner, "She just stopped and looked in this direction."

Jiang Qing looked over there and saw only a large brown trash can half her height on the corner of the street.

She hurried over to take a look. "It's a garbage dump. There's nothing in it."

"Never mind that for now. We can't lose the person."

Seeing that Jiang Qing was about to leave her sight, she bent down and followed him.

Lin Nanyan took one last look in the direction of the trash can, then turned around and strode away.

Downstairs in the apartment building, Jiang Qing and Lin Nanyan watched a boy come down to greet Jiang Qing. The two of them went upstairs talking and laughing.

"Who is he?" Jiang Qing asked quietly with only one eye showing.

Lin Nanyan replied: "Jiang Yu, Jiang Qing's younger brother, a junior high school student."

"A middle school student," Jiang Qing sighed, "A middle school student has grown so tall. If you hadn't told me, I would have thought he was my older brother."

"What do kids eat these days? They're all so tall."

Lin Nanyan: "...If you eat more protein and exercise, you should still be able to grow taller."

"Come on," Jiang Qing refused to listen to his words. "When you took me to exercise before, you stood out, but what about me?"

Jiang Qing looked at Lin Nanyan with resentment, her heart ached whenever she mentioned him.

Although she is only about 1.6 meters tall, she is not short in the crowd. But because there is a big guy standing next to her, she always feels a lot shorter.

Especially since Ye Meiyan was taller than her, with a slender figure of about 1.7 meters, and a pair of her dream legs, long and straight, simply amazing.

As for Song Shuang, she chose to ignore her. There was no difference between them.

Lin Nanyan avoided her gaze upon hearing this and asked, "We've arrived home safely. Are we going home now?"

"Where else can I go if not home?"

Jiang Qing turned around and walked away with her short legs in a menacing manner.

Lin Nanyue, carrying two backpacks, one pink and one black, looked at her pretending to be angry with amusement.

"Wait for me," he said.

"No wait," Jiang Qing sped up, not forgetting to look back and provoke, and then she jogged, "Don't you have long legs? Don't run, just walk and catch up."

Lin Nanyan almost laughed out loud when he saw her movements. He stretched out his long legs, taking two steps at a time, and striding forward.

Jiang Qing immediately noticed that the distance between the two was getting closer, so she screamed and ran even faster.

"Don't come over here!"

The curtain of night gradually dissipated without anyone noticing.

When the first ray of sunlight fell on the head of Jiang Qing's bed, the cell phone rang suddenly, startling the sleeping girl and causing her to turn over and sit up suddenly.

I glanced at my phone, turned off the alarm, and fell asleep peacefully.

After this happened twice, Jiang Qing turned off the ringtone for the third time, closed her eyes and comforted herself that it was the last five minutes, only five minutes.

Time ticked by, and the next time I regained consciousness, Ms. Wang was knocking on the door loudly.

!!!

Jiang Qing sat up with disheveled hair and glanced at her phone in a daze.

Seven twenty.

It’s over, it’s over, I’m going to be late.

Jiang Qing jumped off the bed like a monkey, changed her clothes, put on her shoes, and smoothed her hair that was blocking her view.

"Mom, I'll be right there."

Wang Hong watched helplessly as her daughter with a messy hair flashed past her like a gust of wind and started jumping around the room.

"Dad, where's my hairband?"

"Have you seen my homework book? The blue one."

"I'm going to be late for breakfast, hurry up..."

I saw Jiang Shanhai hurriedly carrying Jiang Qing's schoolbag and preparing to take Jiang Qing out while she was changing her shoes.

Wang Hong leaned against the door frame, admiring the chaotic work of the father and daughter, and suddenly said, "No need to go to school."

Jiang Shanhai casually closed the door that had been opened, walked into the living room carrying his pink schoolbag, and looked puzzled, "What do you mean I don't have to go to school anymore?"

Jiang Qing also looked at her mother with a dazed expression.

Wang Hong sat at the dining table and took a bite of a sweet bun. "I asked your teacher for leave. I'm taking a day off today."

Jiang Qing immediately started brainstorming. What did her mother mean by this? Was she mad at her for skipping class yesterday?

My brain is working so fast it's almost smoking.

She cautiously probed, "If I'm not going up, what's the point of going?"

Jiang Qing bit the last word and acted cutely in a flattering manner.

"Go to the grave!" Wang Hong uttered the three words word by word.

"Mom, I was wrong..."

"Today is your grandfather's tenth anniversary, your mother..."

The sound of Jiang Qing quickly sliding to her knees and the sound of Jiang Shanhai explaining mixed together, forming a symphony.

"What did you do wrong?" Jiang Shanhai asked puzzledly.

Jiang Qing's expression froze, and she stood up from the ground expressionlessly. "Oh, it's okay then."

Although Jiang Shanhai was still a little confused, he didn't forget to tell Jiang Qing, "Since your mother has asked for leave for you, you should go to your grandfather's grave and kowtow. Don't act naughty."

Jiang Qing let out a long "Oh" and seemed absent-minded.

Wang Hong saw this and said nothing more, "Come and have dinner quickly. After dinner, fold the gold ingots and we'll go to the grave together."

Jiang Shanhai: "I..."

"Stop, go and look after your shop."

Jiang Shanhai lowered his head dejectedly, holding a mouthful of fried dough sticks and walking out with his bag.

Jiang Qing put down her schoolbag, took out her cell phone from her trouser pocket, and started typing.

Wang Hong knocked on her desk with her chopsticks. "What are you doing?"

Jiang Qing didn't even raise her head. "Tell Lin Nanyan."

"If we had waited for you to tell them, they would have been knocking on our door long ago," Wang Hong picked up the buns and put them in Jiang Qing's bowl. "Xiao Nan and I already told them. Your dad made these with cabbage and meat filling. Eat them quickly. They won't taste good if they get cold."

Jiang Qing nodded, but did not stop moving her hands.

After clicking send, he obediently took his phone to the bathroom to wash his hands, and then came back to eat.

On the other side, Lin Nanyan watched Jiang Qing enter the school. He slowly turned around and walked towards the intersection in the distance.

The exclusive ringtone in his trouser pocket rang, and Lin Nanyan clicked it.

[Jiang Maomao: What should I do? I'm late. How's my senior doing?]

He typed: Senior sister arrived at school safely.

[Jiang Maomao: That's good. My mom has asked for leave for me today. You can go to school by yourself. Don't miss me too much.]

Lin Nanyan smiled unconsciously. After replying, he put away his phone smoothly with one hand and then took a step forward.

He looked at the person standing on the street opposite him, and his smile slowly faded.

Jiang Qing sat on the ground folding gold ingots. After much difficulty, she put all the expanded gold ingots into a large black plastic bag. Then she patted her waist and stood up to take a look at the message.

【Lin Dagou: Not really.】

[Lin Dagou: I’m on vacation too]

An address is included with the message.

There was a gap between the three messages.

Jiang Qing was just wondering why Lin Nanyan had a day off today for no reason when she heard her mother calling her, "Jiang Jiang, hold the flowers, we're leaving."

"I'm coming." Jiang Qing turned off the phone and answered loudly.

She picked up a large bunch of yellow flowers and followed her mother with the ingot in her hand.

Wang Hong rode a small electric scooter with Jiang Qing across the entire city. Gradually, there were fewer and fewer people on the roadside, and the road under their butts became more and more rugged.

Jiang Qing was holding the flowers and was shaken so much that she couldn't even speak complete words.

Until they reached a small dirt road in the country, Wang Hong stopped the car, and Jiang Qing got out rubbing her butt. Her forehead was sweating from the sun and she was almost sticking out her tongue.

Wang Hong saw Jiang Qing's miserable state and handed her a bottle of water. "Is that all? We still have to go up the mountain."

She pointed to a mountain in the distance, standing tall and straight. Jiang Qing looked over there, and with just that one glance, she almost fainted in front of her mother.

Fortunately, her mother was joking. Grandpa did not live on the top of the mountain. There was a small mound in a small plain around the foot of the mountain. That was where Grandpa lived.

"Mom, why doesn't grandpa live in the cemetery?" Jiang Qing put down the things in her hands and watched her mother light the fire.

"Your grandpa died young, and back then everyone said he should be cremated, but I know he wanted to be buried in peace."

"I buried your grandfather here. It's close to my hometown, and the control wasn't that strict back then."

"In the middle of the night, your father, our relatives and I carried the coffin and buried him underground."

Jiang Qing's eyes reflected the blazing flames, and black ashes were flying all over the sky.

She whispered, "Grandpa must be very happy."

Wang Hong's face was flushed red by the heat of the fire. "Yes, your grandfather should be happy in the underworld."

"Jiang Jiang, I forgot to bring the candles. Please go to the car and get them." She stood up and said to Jiang Qing.

"knew."

Jiang Qing agreed and walked down the mountain. Halfway down the mountain, she remembered that her mother had not given her the car keys.

If I had just picked up the candle, I'm afraid the miserable cries of the electric scooter could be heard all over the mountains and plains.

Unable to afford the trouble, Jiang Qing chose to turn back halfway.

Near the edge of the field, she suddenly heard crying.

Jiang Qing had never heard her mother cry, but at that moment she turned around almost instinctively and hid.

It seemed that Wang Hong was the only one left in the empty wilderness.

Then, she could finally cry out loud.

She knelt on the ground, almost crying like a child.

"Dad, I am unfilial. I am the one who harmed you."

"How could you bear to leave me alone like this?"

"Dad, I'm so unfilial that I couldn't even preserve your bones properly. That's why you can't rest in peace in the underworld."

She spoke incoherently.

"Dad, have you ever blamed me? Even if you didn't say it, I know you must have blamed me. Otherwise, why wouldn't you come to see me in my dreams for all these years...all these years?"

In the end, Wang Hong cried so hard that she couldn't speak, and could only sob intermittently with her mouth open.

Jiang Qing squatted on the ground, covered by overgrown weeds. She bit her lips and tears streamed down her face.
