Chapter 9 Practicing Supernatural Abilities

Chapter 9 Practicing Supernatural Abilities

The next day, at dawn. Blood-red sunlight barely pierced through the clouds, bringing an eerie glow to the deathly silent city.

Nguyen Ning, fully armed once again, stood downstairs at the apartment building.

Unlike before, she was now filled with a new kind of anticipation and eagerness. The cool touch of the water droplets that had gathered in her palms from the previous night still lingered, and the water-like energy within her was lying dormant, waiting to be summoned.

Her goal today was clear: to leave the neighborhood, find lone zombies, and practice her newly awakened water-based abilities in real combat!

The zombies in the neighborhood have been cleared out; she needs a larger and more dangerous "practice ground."

I cautiously passed through the rusty gate of the residential compound; the street scene outside was even more dilapidated and desolate than inside.

Abandoned vehicles blocked the road, broken glass and debris were scattered everywhere, and the walls were covered with dried blood and suspicious scratches. A heavy stench of decay filled the air, and the occasional faint roar from afar added to the eeriness.

Ruan Ning clung to the wall, moving swiftly like a ghost, her mental perception at its maximum, searching for a suitable target.

Soon, she found a zombie gnawing on something in a convenience store on the street corner. It had its back to Ruan Ning, was wearing a tattered sanitation worker's uniform, and moved slowly.

"It's you."

Ruan Ning took a deep breath, refraining from her usual rush into close combat. She stopped, hiding behind the wreckage of an abandoned bus, concentrating her mind and channeling the water-based energy within her.

Energy flowed along specific pathways to her right hand. She raised her hand, palm facing the sanitation worker zombie about ten meters away.

At first, the energy flow was somewhat sluggish, and her control over her superpowers was far less effortless than wielding a machete. She tried hard to recall the feeling she had in the space last night, concentrating her mind intensely—

Buzz...

In front of the palm, moisture in the air began to rapidly gather, emitting a faint buzzing sound. A slightly turbid water sphere, about the size of a fist, quickly condensed and took shape, its surface constantly fluctuating, appearing very unstable.

"go!"

Ruan Ning silently urged himself, his mind driving the movement!

The water sphere wobbled as it shot out, its speed not fast and its trajectory somewhat erratic.

puff!

The water balloon finally struck the zombie on the back with a dull thud. Water splashed everywhere, soaking a large part of its sanitation worker uniform.

The effect was... almost negligible.

The zombie was only knocked forward a step by the impact, and stopped eating in a daze. It turned around slowly, and its cloudy eyes immediately locked onto the direction where Ruan Ning was hiding. It let out a startled roar and staggered over.

"The power is too weak, and the control isn't precise enough." Ruan Ning made the judgment instantly, but she wasn't discouraged. The first real battle couldn't possibly be perfect.

She looked at the charging zombies, her eyes turned cold, and instead of retreating, she took the initiative to meet them!

When the distance between the two sides closed to about five meters, Ruan Ning raised his hand again!

This time, she changed her strategy. Instead of concentrating the entire water sphere, she focused her energy on her fingertips and attempted to shape it!

laugh--

A water arrow, slightly thicker than a chopstick and about half a foot long, suddenly shot out! It was more than twice as fast as the water ball from before, and carried a sharp, fierce aura!

Pfft!

The water jet hit the zombie's face precisely, piercing its rotting nose and penetrating deep into its skull!

The zombie's forward charge abruptly halted, its roar ceasing abruptly. It swayed, the murky light in its eyes quickly dimming, and finally collapsed to the ground with a thud, dark red blood mixed with water gushing from the hole in its nose.

It was a success!

Ruan Ning breathed slightly, feeling that nearly a third of the water-based energy in her body had been consumed, but her eyes sparkled with excitement.

Although its power is far less than that of a machete, and the penetrating power of the water arrow is limited, it is indeed a long-range attack! Moreover, she successfully completed the entire process from condensation to shaping, and then to precise firing!

She walked to the zombie corpse and carefully examined the wounds caused by the water arrow. The penetrating power was indeed insufficient; against harder bones or stronger zombies, it would likely have been difficult to kill them instantly.

"We need something more refined, faster, and with greater penetrating power!" Ruan Ning summarized his experience. "Or, we could develop other forms of attack methods."

She wasted no time, skillfully using her dagger to search for the crystal core, but to no avail, and then continued to explore forward.

For the next few hours, Ruan Ning wandered through the ruined streets, specifically looking for lone zombies to target.

She kept trying to compress the water ball to increase its density and impact, so that it could cause obvious dents when it hit zombies, and even break their fragile bones.

Practice the speed and accuracy of water arrows, from aiming at the torso to specifically targeting vulnerable areas such as the eyes and mouth.

They even tried to create a small puddle of water under the zombies' feet. Although it could only make the zombies slip slightly and could hardly cause any effective obstruction, it was still a rudimentary form of controlling the situation.

Each time she used her superpower, she gained a deeper understanding of the flow of energy and a more refined control over the water element. She could feel that with continuous practice, consumption, and recovery, the water energy within her body seemed to become more vibrant and solidified, and the recovery speed also subtly increased.

As the sun set (which looked even more eerie against the blood-red sky), Ruan Ning had successfully killed seven or eight zombies with her supernatural abilities. Her energy had been depleted several times, but she replenished it through rest and a small amount of spiritual spring water.

Although exhausted, she was in high spirits.

She stood in the middle of an empty street, watching a wisp of steam, as gentle as a swimming fish, linger around her fingertips, and a confident smile curved her lips.

Water-based superpower, Level 1, Beginner level.

But this was just the beginning. She believed that as long as she continued to develop and practice along the path she had set, one day her water would no longer be a symbol of weakness, but a destructive torrent that would strike fear into the hearts of all enemies!
