Twenty girls stood in the open space outside the dormitory entrance. The afternoon sun was like a red-hot iron, baking the ground so hot that steam was coming out.
Jian Yunxi could clearly feel the beads of sweat running down her spine, leaving dark marks on the back of her camouflage uniform.
"Hold your chest high! Hold your head high! Push your shoulders back!" The instructor's voice was like a sharp knife, cutting through the sultry air. "Add another ten minutes!"
A few barely audible sighs were heard from the team.
Jian Yunxi pursed her cracked lips and stared at a crack on the wall of the dormitory building in front of her. Her vision was a little blurry, not sure if it was due to sweat or dizziness from the scorching sun.
"Instructor, this is not fair!" Guo Xinyue's voice suddenly exploded from her right, "The playing cards do not belong to our dormitory!"
Jian Yunxi secretly thought that this was not good. If he raised any objections at this time, the instructor would probably get angry.
As expected, the instructor walked up to Guo Xinyue and said, "During military training, any entertainment activities are prohibited, let alone playing poker. If you make a mistake, everyone will be punished. This is the rule."
"Besides, I saw it with my own eyes. The cards were in your hand, and you are still trying to pick on others!"
The instructor's face was as gloomy as the sky before a storm, and the team was dead silent.
Jian Yunxi tugged at Guo Xinyue's sleeve again, meaning that they could talk about this matter later. The most important thing now was to finish standing at attention as she could hardly stand.
The girls from other dormitories stuck their heads out in front of the dormitory building and looked in, their eyes full of sympathy.
I don't know if she was irritated by those looks, or if Guo Xinyue really couldn't stand the grievance. She stretched out her hand and pointed at the small girl who showed her head. "She gave me the playing cards. She put them in the interlayer of her schoolbag and brought them in. We didn't play with them in the dormitory. I was going to return the playing cards when you saw them."
"Besides, this is all my fault. The other people in our dormitory are innocent!"
Jian Yunxi had no time to care about Guo Xinyue. Her calves began to tremble uncontrollably, and the sweat flowed into her eyes, causing a stinging pain. Then the familiar dizziness came, and Jian Yunxi's eyes went dark and she fell down.
"Yunxi!"
…
Jian Yunxi was awakened by the sobbing. Her head hurt, her arms hurt, and even her knees were burning.
She opened her eyes and found Guo Xinyue crying. "What are you doing, Xinyue?"
"Yunxi, you're awake! Woo woo woo..."
Guo Xinyue was crying so hard that she was out of breath. Sun Qimiao went to get some water. When he came back and heard Guo Xinyue crying, he thought something had happened to Jian Yunxi again and rushed in scared.
"Guo Xinyue, I'll be angry if you do this again!"
Sun Qimiao yelled at Guo Xinyue, and Jian Yunxi was also shocked. He had never seen Sun Qimiao so angry.
"Yunxi, are you hungry? Miaozi has gone to get you some food. The doctor said you must drink a drip of diluted saline when you wake up. I'll make it for you right away."
Jian Yunxi then realized that she was lying on the hospital bed, with a fever-reducing patch on her forehead and a piece of gauze on her right elbow. She just wanted to sit up when she felt a sharp pain in her knee.
"Don't move!" Sun Qimiao hurriedly held her down. "The school doctor said you have heatstroke and hypoglycemia. You've also been given medicine for the scrapes on your elbows and knees."
"You scared me to death!" Guo Xinyue sobbed, "I suddenly fell down and almost hit my head on the steps! If it wasn't for Instructor Chen's quick reaction..."
Jian Yunxi knew that Guo Xinyue and the others must have been terrified. Chen Shasha was also scared half to death when she was in her senior year of high school.
"You still say that!" Sun Qimiao was indeed a little angry.
Guo Xinyue shut her mouth.
"It's okay, I don't blame you. I just had low blood sugar to begin with, and heat stroke is something that no one can control."
Jian Yunxi was not being too sanctimonious; she was just telling the truth.
It’s just that Guo Xinyue was indeed a little impulsive today, and Jian Yunxi thought that he had to think carefully about how to enlighten her.
"It's all my fault, actually. Alas, I did learn a lesson."
While Jian Yunxi was still unconscious, Sun Qimiao had already scolded Guo Xinyue.
"Do you think it matters who holds the poker cards? Does it matter whether we play poker or not? The instructor cares about whether you abide by the rules of military training. Besides, you may be caught with the poker cards!"
"But……"
"No buts, no one blames you, but you insisted on arguing about who is right and who is wrong, and ended up getting Yunxi into trouble! Luckily she is not seriously injured, otherwise how would you explain to Yunxi's family!"
"I……"
Guo Xinyue does think very simply. In her eyes, one is one and two is two.
She originally thought that if the people in the neighboring dormitory had not secretly hidden the playing cards, why would she take them?
So it's all the fault of the dormitory next door.
After listening to Sun Qimiao's words, she realized how wrong she was.
The student in the neighboring dormitory was wrong, but the instructor didn't notice it, and they didn't give you the playing cards on their own initiative, so you, Guo Xinyue, deserved to be bumped into by the instructor.
"Yes, I deserve it. I've also implicated other people. I really deserve to die!" Guo Xinyue was about to cry as she spoke.
Jian Yunxi thought: No matter how independent a girl looks, she is made of water. Look at these tears.
"The meal is here!" Huang Miao's voice rang out. She was about to come over after getting her meal, but the instructor asked the canteen to add a dish of pig blood tofu, saying that it was to nourish the student who was bleeding.
Jian Yunxi was indeed hungry. Her low blood sugar was so severe that her hands were shaking when she tried to pick up the cup to drink water. Sun Qimiao was so scared that he thought she had fallen and was injured.
Several people had dinner in the infirmary. The doctor reminded Jian Yunxi not to let the injured area come into contact with water, and to wrap the gauze with plastic wrap when taking a bath, and to change the gauze on the elbow frequently.
