After dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Lu accompanied Li Meiling to stroll around the Bird's Nest. Jian Yunxiao was not interested, but was still dragged away by her mother.
Jian Yunxi and Lu Yang followed behind. Perhaps because there were elders around, she was embarrassed to hold Lu Yang's hand.
There weren't many people at the Bird's Nest in the afternoon, and only groups of tourists were taking pictures.
Ms. Li Meiling looked at the blurry photos on her phone and felt a little regretful: "I should have bought a camera earlier so that I can use it when I go out with his father in the future."
"Don't worry, Meiling. I'll bring my SLR camera from home tomorrow and take some good photos of you at the Summer Palace."
Mother Lu agreed that she would be the tour guide so that Jian Yunxi and Lu Yang could focus on reviewing for the exam.
Of course Li Meiling agreed, as she felt more confident having a local by her side.
So in the next few days, the relationship between Lu's mother and Li Meiling progressed by leaps and bounds, and Jian Yunxiao felt a toothache when she saw it.
"Sister, you don't know, Aunt Meng and Mom get along really well, like lost sisters from the previous life."
Lu Yang's mother's surname is Meng and her given name is Wan, which is indeed a bit like her name.
"Go away, what do you know? Haven't you noticed that your Aunt Meng is full of knowledge? She speaks and acts very comfortably and without any hesitation."
Li Meiling had no worries about Lu Yang's family background, it couldn't be better.
But there was something in her mind that she had always wanted to ask Jian Yunxi.
"Xixi, your cousin Jiang Mu once said that Lu Yang's major is best suited for studying abroad. What are your plans?"
Jian Yunxi knew that her mother had wanted to ask her since she heard about this, so she lost her composure at the dinner table that day. She thought Lu Yangyi had been abroad for several years.
"Mom, if Lu Yang really goes abroad for graduate studies, that's great, after all, some technologies are still in the hands of Americans. But if Lu Yang doesn't want to go, it's also good for him to stay at Tsinghua University. It's up to him anyway."
"What will you do if he really goes abroad?"
"Mom, I have hands and feet, and I will go to graduate school later. Whether he goes abroad or not will not affect our relationship. Besides, we can't see each other every day now!"
Li Meiling looked at Jian Yunxi's innocent face and thought that this child had not yet experienced the blow of reality.
Now that we are in the honeymoon period, nothing can happen. But what if, what if Lu Yang really goes abroad? We are in China and the other is in the United States, with the vast Pacific Ocean between us and a time difference of more than ten hours.
He gets up when you fall asleep, and when you want to chat with him, he has fallen asleep again.
Relationships are influenced by too many factors.
But seeing that Jian Yunxi looked full of expectations for the future, she couldn't say any of her guesses. She only hoped that when that day really came, the damage she suffered would be minimal.
In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Lu also noticed Mrs. Jian's concerns about whether Lu Yang would go abroad in the future. Although they knew their son very well and knew that he would not do anything treacherous, who could be sure about matters of the heart?
However, his future should be decided by himself. Whether he chooses to stay in Tsinghua University or go abroad, they need to provide all the logistical support.
Jian Yunxi herself was a very slow person in some aspects. She had thought of countless possibilities, just like the point she had insisted on in the debate before, that even if the campus lovers graduated, nothing could stop their feelings.
What's more, she always felt that she could be with Lu Yang until the end.
During the two years they were in love, they had never argued once, let alone quarreled. She also never believed the saying that "love is developed through quarreling."
When you have an argument, you say all kinds of unpleasant things. How can you continue to get along well with each other without any grudges?
Anyway, Jian Yunxi felt that he couldn't do it.
Lina once said that she was too idealistic. What couple doesn't quarrel? For example, she and Yu Guanghui live together now, and they often quarrel over who cleans the house.
"Yunxi, you don't know that living together is really the best way to test love. You don't know that Yu Guanghui threw his socks everywhere when he first took them off. I was so annoyed. Fortunately, I cured him."
Jian Yunxi couldn't imagine Lu Yang throwing his socks around. She had lived in Lu Yang's rental house before. The room was incredibly clean. Even his white T-shirts were washed spotlessly. The first thing he did after taking a shower was to wash the dirty clothes.
She also didn't believe that Lu Yang would become an unhygienic person in the future.
Jian Yunxi attended two more days of classes and finally had time to spend with his mother and sister. Li Meiling thought that since they were in Beijing, she had to treat Jian Yunxi's roommates to a meal at the "Bai Laoye" Xinjiang restaurant outside the south gate of Peking University.
Jian Yunxi from the dormitory often comes to this restaurant. The big plate chicken and lamb skewers are its signature dishes. The prices are affordable and the portions are large, making it the perfect restaurant for student gatherings.
Li Meiling booked a private room, and the round table was already filled with yogurt, naan and cucumber salad. Jian Yunxi and his three roommates, Sun Qimiao, Guo Xinyue and Huang Miao, arrived early and were looking through the menu together.
"Hello, Auntie!" Seeing Li Meiling come in, the three girls stood up and greeted her.
"You're welcome. Come and sit down." Li Meiling greeted them with a smile. "I heard from Xixi that you guys take good care of her. Auntie would like to thank you here."
Guo Xinyue responded the fastest: "Auntie, you are too polite. I feel like Yunxi is the one who takes care of me, haha!"
As he was speaking, the waiter brought over a steaming large plate of chicken. Large pieces of chicken were piled between golden potatoes and bright red peppers, and the belt noodles were soaked in thick soup, which smelled delicious.
Li Meiling enthusiastically invited the girls to eat: "To be honest, this is my first time eating Xinjiang food. I think you can all get used to it."
"Auntie, we are used to it. We usually like to eat here, and you should eat it too."
