Chapter 169 If Love Has Time Difference

At 1:23 in the morning, Jian Yunxi’s QQ profile picture was still lit.

Lu Yang glanced at the dialog box. Jian Yunxi's last message was sent two hours ago:

[The intellectual property case assigned by Judge Gu is very difficult, but very interesting! The rules of evidence are similar to those of the South China Sea Convention~]

It was followed by a little yellow bean expression with shining eyes.

He checked the time—the girl wasn't asleep yet.

I typed and deleted on the keyboard, and finally sent a message:

[Yunxi, why aren't you asleep yet?]

As soon as the message was sent, a video request popped up.

On the screen, Jian Yunxi was sitting cross-legged on a bed covered with case files, her bangs pinned up with a cartoon hairpin, and on her nose rested the blue-light blocking glasses that Lu Yang had given her.

"Ah, Lu Yang, you haven't slept either, let's chat, my mind is a mess."

"Can you study it during the day? You need to rest. You've never slept so late before."

"But……"

Lu Yang's face suddenly moved closer to the screen: "No buts, anyway, your current train of thought is stuck, maybe when you wake up you will suddenly have an idea. Be good..."

"You're right." Jian Yunxi yawned again.

Lu Yang felt extremely distressed and was not at all reassured.

"Lu Yang, are you on the flight tomorrow night?"

"No, it's tonight. It's already 1:30 in the morning, so, Yunxi, you really need to rest."

"Okay, I'll go to sleep then, kiss me."

Jian Yunxi pouted and moved closer to the screen, and Lu Yang smiled and gave her a kiss.

Sure enough, when Jian Yunxi got up, she was able to sort out the precedents regarding the "prior use defense" that had been bothering her for a long time.

She happily sent a message to Lu Yang: "Lu Banxian, your calculations are really accurate."

A few seconds later, Lu Yang's reply came: "Okay, half-immortal girlfriend, it's time to get up and go to work."

Jian Yunxi spent two days sorting out the key points of the intellectual property case assigned by Judge Gu. When she placed the sorted documents on Gu Chen's desk, Judge Gu was flipping through an old file.

Without even raising his head, he said, "Leave it there." Just as Jian Yunxi was about to leave, she suddenly heard a "click"—Gu Chen closed the file and his eyes fell on the catalog page she had sorted out.

"The summary of the requirements is very clear." He pushed his glasses, "But the Regulations for the Implementation of the Trademark Law cited on page 17 have been abolished."

Jian Yunxi's heart skipped a beat and he quickly opened the document. Sure enough, he found his own negligence in the comments. How could he make such a mistake?

"I'm sorry, Judge Gu. I'll take it back and change it."

Gu Chen nodded and motioned Jian Yunxi to go out.

Jian Yunxi felt annoyed. Gu Chen was really a capable man. No wonder he was a judge at such a young age. Tao Xi had a good eye.

By the time Jian Yunxi had time to check QQ on his phone, Lu Yang had already arrived in San Francisco.

"We have arrived in San Francisco safely and are now preparing to take a car to our apartment."

Like in some schools in the United States, there are no dormitories.

Younger students will choose to live in a Chinese family, while most adult students will choose to share an apartment off campus, which allows them to share the rent and expand their social circle.

Some students from well-off families will rent an entire independent house.

For students like Lu Yang who participate in the cooperation program between the two schools, Stanford has prepared a single-family apartment for them to stay and live in. It is right near the school and is very convenient.

Lu Yang's school selected 6 students, including him, Wang Pu, and students from other classes.

Wang Pu is actually here to test the waters first. He plans to study computer science at Stanford in the future.

Each student has an independent room, with a brand new ThinkPad and a welcome brochure on the desk. The cover page is printed with the logos of the two schools intertwined.

After Lu Yang put down his luggage, the first thing he did was to take a picture of the palm trees outside the window and send it to Jian Yunxi:

"Arrived safely, the apartment is in a good condition"

It was 10:30 p.m. San Francisco time, and 1:30 p.m. Beijing time. He thought that Jian Yunxi might have just finished lunch and should have time to look at his phone.

As expected, not long after the message was sent, the phone screen lit up, and Jian Yunxi's reply was filled with envy:

"Wow, that's great! Take more pictures. I want to see Stanford's campus, classrooms, and the sky over there."

When he saw Jian Yunxi's message, he seemed to be able to see Jian Yunxi's sparkling eyes and a curious look on his face. The corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise:

"Okay, no problem. What did you have for lunch?"

Jian Yunxi didn't eat a good lunch, but she didn't want to make Lu Yang worry, so she said:

"It was hot, so I didn't feel like eating. I just ate something. Sister Tao Xi gave me two bottles of yogurt. I have to say that the yogurt tasted pretty good."

Lu Yang knew that Jian Yunxi had always had a good appetite and the weather was just an excuse.

"What's wrong? Didn't work go well today?"

Well, Jian Yunxi knew that she couldn’t hide it from Lu Yang.

"I feel so useless and I made a really stupid mistake."

Lu Yang had the urge to fly back at that moment. He hated that he couldn't be there to comfort Jian Yunxi. Even a hug would be helpful.

"Yunxi, don't underestimate yourself. You have always been excellent."

"Everyone told me it was just a small problem and that many people have made the same mistake, but I just felt a little depressed."

Because Jian Yunxi heard someone say behind his back: "So what if he's a top student from Beijing University? He's no different from me, a second-tier university graduate. He made the same mistake as me."
